Have a neck injury and needed assistance today and went to the ER. I recommend anywhere but here. I literally walked out with instructions on how to install a baby seat in my car. I would love to say this is a joke but it isn't. I am left in pain and was given muscle relaxers for my slipped disc and nerve pain I brought documentation in for. Pick anywhere else...there is not a licensed doctor available in the ER. Go to a vet before here...the vet is more knowledgeable by far. If you go here, retain an attorney first, or search for one as I am after the fact
Great nursing staff great doctors with alot knowledge and patience. The reason for only 4 stars because they keep losing items. Lost my dads ID and insurance card twice.
I am in process of revising comments about Sharp which were once largely positive. Although I have received some good care at Sharp, I now feel that I hope I age rapidly and have nothing further to do with them. They are very likely to abandon care and leave you with a bill and a dent in your credit rating. If you have an unusual health problem, I advise going elsewhere unless you need emergency help.
Very rude nurses
I do not recommend the ER Department at Grossmont Hospital. My 7 month old preemie twins and 5 year old visited the ER December 15,2021. We were treated very POORLY. No privacy when registering. Lack of common sense from blonde Girl RN doing the intake. When I provided the RN with my kids symptoms Witch where cough with flem and breathing rapidly . I stated they had just had telehealth appointment with pediatrician and she stated possible bronquitis due to them being at high risk since they were born at 29weeks.RN mentioned she needs to undress the twins to verify they where breathing fast all while doing this outside In the cold 55 degree weather my boys where nice and warm and cozy until nurse strips them outside .I mentioned to her I was bothered and uncomfortable and stated how UNNECESSARY it was due to the weather. She had the nerve to tell me oh don't worry they are still going to go inside. Exactly my point why is she exposing them to cold weather when they will be evaluated inside. She responded that the boys looked comfortable and did not listen to my concerns. All while another male RN listened and did nothing .My boys health has worsen because of her actions what was only a cough withflem has now turned into sleepless nights coughing has got worser to the point they can barely breathe and now they're experiencing vomiting and runny nose.Nothing was done besides a rapid covid test waited 4.5 hrs for that to come back negative was given two plastic freebies to help take the flem out at home . PATHETIC.
The patient food is disgusting. The fish smells like it died last month & there is literally sandy gritty dirt on the potatoes. I would post a picture of proof if this review would offer that option.
On November 26th, I took my grandparents to the medical offices at Sharp Grossmont for their COVID booster vaccines; during the same visit I was going to get my booster, too. The person who checked us in was nice but it was a busy Friday and we were walk-ins so I could tell he was probably having a stressful day. However, it was frustrating that when he called us so that I and my grandparents could give our medical/insurance information, he told me that my grandparents had to go give that information themselves. Both my grandparents speak only Spanish and I told him that they don’t speak English; I was there to help translate for them. Thankfully, one of the people did speak Spanish but the other did not. I told my grandmother to confirm that it was ok for me to be present so I could give her information to the person putting it into the computer. I also gave my medical/insurance information. My grandfather was called in to get his booster first, so I saw the nurse who was helping him. I was also called in to get mine with another nurse. I answered a bunch of questions, got my booster and started to walk out when my grandmother was called by the nurse who gave me my booster. I walked back out to the waiting room and the nurse who was going to give the booster to my grandfather walked out and asked the same person who took his medical/insurance information if he spoke Spanish. I was confused because I initially wanted to go back with my grandfather but was told he would be taken care of. My questions are: Why did the nurse ask the person taking insurance information if he knew how to speak Spanish? Why wasn’t a translating service used? Why didn’t she check to see if a family member was present to translate? Thankfully, my grandparents were not there on their own. I told the nurse that I am his granddaughter and that I can translate. I went back with her to the room where my grandfather was, translated the answers to her questions, and he got his booster. On our way out, the nurse who had given me my booster was then waiting for me to translate for my grandmother. Again. Why wasn’t a translating service used? I was told that my grandparents would be fine without me. Obviously not because I had to step in twice. I am thankful that I had the option to take myself and my grandparents to this location to get our boosters as walk-ins. I also understand that hospitals are businesses and need to get things done quickly. However, I would have appreciated it if a translation service was used when the nurses could not effectively communicate with my grandparents due to a language barrier, especially when I was told by the person who checked us in that they would be taken care of without me, instead of allowing me to be with them in the first place.
Mom 86 years old fell & you know the story, wiped out, hospitalized for 2 weeks at Sharp Grossmont. Good care overall at skilled nursing 3rd floor. Not so good on 2nd floor. She was very painful, I complained about lack of pain control for her. Nurse confused the idea of sending a doctor a text as being the same as providing patient care. They had security escort me out. Much more efficient at booting me out instead of providing pain relief to mom.Comment about visiting- their policy is one visitor per hour on the 3 rd floor. Not 1 visitor per patient but a single person allowed for the entire floor! Telling me 2 or 3 people spread out on one floor is too much for the staff? Talk about lazy.
Quickest ER visit I’ve ever had. I was in the accelerated care area and didn’t wait more than 10-15 mins and overall it was only a 3 hour visit. My doctor and nurse were both very sweet. However, just like one one of these previous reviews I also got sick after visiting. I’m vaccinated so it’s likely the flu but even still, people shouldn’t be getting another sickness after going to get treated for something else.
I've needed several eye surgeries and needed a covid test before each surgery. My surgery time isn't scheduled until a few days before the surgery so I'm left scrambling to try to get my test. I'm calling multiple times every time. I have a surgery scheduled for Wednesday and the clinic has been closed for 2 days. I'm completely fed up.
Kind, courteous and compassionate staff. I am extremely grateful for the care I received. I was truly suffering and was provided with prompt, professional and genuine care.
12/9/2021- Once again this hospital leaves me with a sour taste in my mouth. The resource center person Daniel, can benefit from some customer service re training. What kind of hospital does not answer their ER telephone line after 20 minutes of waiting time? What a joke.
Kind and courteous very professional the nurses help me in a very Timely an efficient ways
This place saves my Mom life 🙏
A Great Hospital.
The Nurses here are incredible! Thanks you sharp Nurses for watching over me after surgery from getting jumped and having a broken face! If anyone is willing to help please I need it! $Bishopbrobro cash app
Honestly the worst ER. Waited for 3 hours to be seen even though the waiting room was nearly empty. I usually don’t go to hospitals! I hate it. But honestly this is the worst. No structure and staff members dismiss you like you didn’t have anything serious. Honestly they need to pay more attention to keeping the place clean and sanitized. Looks like a mess. If I could give a zero I would. Maybe they are understaffed or idk what’s the issue.Honestly I highly recommend the sharp ER down in Chula Vista. Great staff, super clean, the day I went was packed but very well organized and didn’t even wait 30 min to be seen. And I would like to add in that the GI Doctor Alexander Shpaner so unprofessional.
I had to have a pre-surgery COVID test to prove im well enough for surgery. My surgeon’s office helped me schedule an appointment. The “appointment” turned out to be in the Urgent Care. And my appointment was meaningless; I was told straight up that all dozens (plural) of walk-ins came before me. The wait time was over an hour. It was wall to wall people, sittings and standing wherever the could. No well person waiting area. Not allowed to wait in car and be called. Not allowed to wait in hall and be called. So much for making sure I stayed healthy before surgery. Ridiculous system.
The worst ER in San Diego County!Took my husband there when he was having his second stroke. His speech was slurred, he couldn't walk, and had lost vision in one eye. The doctor said he was not having a stroke and sent us home with a cane! I had to turn around and take back up to sharp Memorial ER at the advise of a paramedic not to go back to Grossmont. The ER doctor there said yes he was having a stroke. By then it was to late to give him the proper stroke protocol. My husband is more disabled than he needed to be because of the inept care of the Grossmont hospital staff. Wish I could give 0 stars, they are the worst.
Update 11/11/21 9pm, email has been sent. Let’s see if a response is actually going to happen.I wish I could give this place zero stars to leave a review. I have never felt so mistreated and insulted in my life. I saw Dr Gina Weaver and she dismissed me without even listening to all of my symptoms. She did not try to do any blood work or anything. Didn’t ask me about any medical history. I expressed being nervous it was a reaction to a new seizure med I was on, and she acted as if I was crazy for thinking so. It wasn’t until my nurse came in to discharge me and saw me crying because I was so frustrated and asked me if I was okay that Dr Weaver decided to do some blood work. I overheard her talking to another member of the staff saying “I’m just so checked out from this place.” If that’s the case, she shouldn’t be a doctor. Then came in with the results and said everything is fine and to see my PCP in a very rude manner and walked out before I could even say anything or ask anything. I appreciate my nurse noticing my aggravation and trying to fight for me for better care from the doctor.
