List of Coastal Kids's Reviews
I was very disappointed with the practices no tolerance policy for vaccination. At my first visit with my newborn I expressed that I wanted more information as they were being pushy since I didnt give my hoursold infant an STD vaccine at the hospital before I decided on whether or not I wanted to vaccinate. The doctor said shed send someone in to give me information. Im not sure why she couldnt talk to me about it herself. Then the vaccine girl as she called herself came in and gave me a pamphlet on the schedule for vaccines. I said I wanted the information sheets for the vaccines and she told me I could find them online. It felt like the doctor couldnt be bothered to answer questions and the person who was sent in had no apparent medical credentials. The very limited info she did share was not even accurate. I ended up finding a different pediatrician who I am very happy with.
The best pediatricians in OC. Everyone is always so warm and welcoming. I appreciate that when the Dr is in the room she always explains the vaccines and what is going on. The visits never feel rushed. If your child is sick they currently have a drive up option which is wonderful. I’m very happy that I found a pediatric office that is so nice and friendly for my children to go to.
Physicians Assistant Jennifer Maccio is amazing. She went above and beyond to help us. She really cares about her patients. I will definitely be asking for her in the future.
I have been thinking of switching to a new pediatric center for a while as the staff is typically unwelcoming and unfriendly but debated staying based on convenience and I like one of the doctors. The nurses here can be pushy and unkind when your child is nervous about vaccines. On our last visit they made a rude comment to us about us having to pay for the vaccine out of pocket if my kid refused to take it. My kid took the vaccine just fine but this was upsetting to be treated like this as vaccines are covered by our insurance. I think for this place its all about money and not about their patients wellbeing. They charge you for everything. Lots of fees that are covered by insurance they will find a way to add a copay or fee for. I know what our insurance covers and our other medical offices we use dont charge random visit fees. Needless to say were looking into a new pediatrician. Skip this place unless you want to be overcharged fees for everything and deal with staff and nurses that will focus more on charging you for things than making you and your kids feel comfortable during visits.
Update Coastal kids did reach out to us after addressing this post. They asked us to fill out paperwork...again. No fee. We are debating if it is worth the effort. At least they cared enough to reach out. I appreciate that.
First I do not recommend using Coastal Kids. Customer service is TERRIBLE at the front desk and with records both inbound and outbound. My family recently moved from Colorado to California. Coastal Kids is relatively close to our new home. We called to get a new pediatrician for our kids and they seemed more than happy to help. We scheduled our kids checkups and made it into the office. Thats where things started to go sideways. The staff was only able to get two of our kids records. After a year they still could not get the third childs records even with us signing release paperwork over and over. Not sure why they couldnt get it right. The most recent checkup we cancelled because the office staff takes an incompetent stance and refuses to help obtain records. Basically get it on your own. Now my kids are two years out of bed on immunizations because of their incompetence. I immediately rescheduled with HOAG medical group and they worked with my Colorado provider to get records on the same day as our visit. Done HOAG also sent a records request to Coastal kids for their records. Its been three weeks and they just now called asking for $60 to send their crappy we did nothing because we didnt get the records records to HOAG. Really? Bottom line. Office staff is incompetent. Medical staff was professional. The facility is nice and in a decent location. Office staff worthless should be replaced made it impossible to manage my kids vaccinations. Extremely disappointed with Costal Kids.
We love our pediatrician at Coastal kids. In fact we followed her here after a short search following her departure from a previous practice. I have great insurance so I do not often have cause for concern. Yet I must say that I was alarmed by my bill for a 7yearold well check which is usually paid for entirely by my insurance company. There was a $50 charge for an eye exam done after sharing that he was struggling a bit in class. I am not a doctor but I am at least as qualified as a DMV worker asking drivers license applicants to read letters of a chart. The $70 bill to my insurance company was the perfect example of unnecessary inflated excess medical costs. Even the $20 my insurance company paid is almost unpalatable. Further it is a reasonable assumption that this would be part of a well check visit anyway. If that is not the case I think that there should be some kind of burden placed on the practice to inform the patient of potential costs. No this is not enough of a grievance for me to take my kids away from the only doctor they know. However this bothers me enough to share.
Back again this past Friday. Nothing like a child getting an ear infection right before the weekend. Again amazing service. I know I called last minute and I was offered an appointment. This is why they are amazing. Not only did they squeeze me in but they did not make me feel like a burden. WE LOVE COASTAL KIDS LADERA
We love Coastal Kids. Theyve been there from birth for our two boys. From initial check ins after delivery in the hospital being available on weekends routine check ups and timely responses to questions remotely theyve been there for us. The administrative support nurses and physicians are knowledgeable but take the time to get to know your family. Patient portals provide good information and appointments are seemingly always available. Annie has been a wonderful partner in the health and development of our children and is always available for our random questions. Cant say enough positive things.
The staff here is amazing and answered all my questions when I called. They were polite and provided great guidance to ease my mind.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
