Barry Donner, Md's Online Review Report Card

I highly recommend Dr. Barry Donner at Saddleback Medical Group in Laguna Hills, CA. As an expert gastroenterologist, Dr. Donner has provided exceptional care and has significantly improved my health. His extensive experience in the field is evident, and I have confidently recommended him to many friends and family members. The office environment is very clean, and the staff is consistently helpful and professional. Dr. Donner’s expertise and dedication to his patients are truly admirable.

DO NOT waste your time w “Dr” Donner. This guy has forgotten how to treat a patient. There is no way all these glowing reviews are real! The first red flag was the fact that I had to have a phone consultation for my first visit, no in person appointment. He was extremely rude front start to finish during our call, which lasted a whopping five minutes. During those five minutes he barely listened to me, interrupted me several times and told me that “99% of the time nothing is wrong with my patients.” Told me that he would do an endoscopy for me if that’s what I really wanted but that “guaranteed he would find nothing wrong.” What???? No mention of looking at my previous tests and that “most people learn to live with it.” He also took a personal call during our call and then went on and on about why he had to take the call. Hinted that my issue was a symptom of anxiety, tried to tell me I should see a different doc and when he could tell that I was fed up with his nonsense, told me again nothing was wrong. So completely unprofessional!

If I could give less than one star I would. I don't understand how Dr. Donner is receiving any positive reviews. Of the other reviewers who gave him one star, I couldn't agree more with their experiences. Dr. Donner was incredibly short with me during our phone consultation (that I waited MONTHS for). I felt truly dismissed by him. It seemed as though he was minimizing my pain and attempting to write it off as something minimal without doing any further testing. He constantly interrupted me during the phone call and seemed rushed to get off the phone. At one point I even asked him if there was somewhere he needed to be or do because he seemed so incredibly NOT present. Dr. Donner went on to perform my colonoscopy and was just as rude the day of my procedure. I was told by a nurse that he would come by to answer any questions. Dr. Donner did not do this. I am incredibly disappointed in this doctor. If you're looking for a GI please consider looking elsewhere.

I also can’t believe he gets any stars took forever to get an appointment it was on the phone very short seemed rushed he wanted to get my old records I called for my records and they told me it was better for the dr to call for them gave them all the information I did the tests he told me to get never heard from them about the results called them the dr called me to take more of the medication I was taking tried to tell him that my insurance company would not pay for it without a prescription he was very short with me and hung up on me I never write reviews but I was very disappointed in my care

Dr. Donner gives you good old fashion personal health care. He's very professional, he cares about his patients and resolves your health issues through every avenue of testing. He has years of experience and is very knowledgeable in his field. I highly recommend him if your looking for great advice and above and beyond health care service!

If I could pick no star for your staff, I would. Unfortunately I had to pick at least one star. This is for the admin staff not Dr. Donner. Dr. Donner has been my Colonoscopy doctor for 10 years, I had good results twice and I was very happy with his process, he is very professional and I give him 5 stars and recommend him 100%. Unfortunately he has the worst admin staff and it is going down by each year that passes by. Previously they were slow to reply and did not show any courtesy for anyone's time. But I still went back to him because he is a very good doctor. This year, I recommended him to my husband-- he had his consult appointment at the end of September 2022 and to date with weekly calls still we have not been able to set an appoint for his procedure. I got involved in January and I excused them for their lack of follow up and blamed it on Holidays. I called back for my husband to set up his appointment and mine together in January. I did connect with the assistant on the 2nd call who never answers the phone no matter what time of the day you call, She said they called him back and his phone message was full. He gave them his work phone and he checks it daily, never full! even if it was, shouldn't you call again a few days later? I did not argue and accepted the excuse and told her lets do better now. She can call me. My phone is never full and she called once at 4:57pm the next day left a voice mail for me while I was driving home. They are gone after 5pm. They also take a two hour lunch and you can not leave a message between 12 and 2pm. I called her back the next day and a few days later, that was two weeks ago and am yet to receive a call back. Doctor Donner -- You are a fantastic doctor, no nonsense, professional and a very reasonable doctor. Please look in to the way your assistant/admin staff is handling the appointments. No one wants to have a consult and 4 months later we still are trying to connect with your staff who take two hour lunches and never answer the phone. To be fair -- Do not take my word for it, you should audit your staff to find out for yourself. Many call tracking software are in the market. Hire a mystery callers, etc. There are customer relation companies you can hire to assist you improve this part of your practice. All your patients will thank you Profusely! Even if you leave an alternative to the black hole assistant phone, that would be an improvement. Can we get some help here ???

I Scheduled an appointment With Dr. Berry Donner, at that time I talked with Tracy and waited 3 months for it ; just now they told me : " we don't work with your insurance but you can pay cash" ....It's ridiculous, they have no regards for patients.

Very professional answered all my questions made me feel very comfortable with the procedures
