I rarely leave bad reviews for anything, but feel compelled to for this office. Please don't make the mistake I made - avoid this office at all costs. Scheduling is a nightmare, I have never had an appointment run on time (often over an hour late), it took almost 3 months for them to coordinate properly with my insurance for an MRI (resulting in me needing to directly reschedule the MRI four times), and now almost 6 weeks since I managed to actually get the MRI I still have not been able to go over the results with the doctor because she's called over an hour late to each of my three attempts at a phone appointment. I'm giving up and seeking out another practice. Horrible.
I had an excellent experience with Dr Choan, her staff are efficient, and I loved the careful and precise way Dr Choan asked questions to really understand my personal history and had read the referral notes and all my prior examinations from my referring physician, well versed with my case,. Very please to have Dr Choan managing my care.
Difficult to get an appointment. Usually call back next day. Not on any local hospital staff. Office follow-up very poor. First visit she spent whole time talking about herself and her degrees.
Dr. Choan diagnosed me and her treatment plan was effective. At my visits she took the time to explain things and answered all of my questions. Getting a next day/same week appointment was easy, with Addie her scheduler being extremely helpful to me. The reason for 2 stars is the office communication (specifically related to medications) can be better and automatic prescription refills can be smoother. I also requested my medical records to someone over the phone and never received them. I also think Dr. Choan overdid the exploratory testing and I found it odd that I had to pull up MyChart to show her my test results during our appointments. This office just requires too much work for the patient to receive adequate care and medication updates. I have since found another neuro whose office functions in a more organized and thorough manner.
Doctor does not listen to me. No followup. No prescriptions filled. Staff does not return calls. I need to leave messages on voice recorder, and still no return call from staff. Staff is friendly, and so is doctor when I visit office, however, there is no organization in this office. I will be finding a different doctor. The only reason I gave one star review was to say Definitely Not.
Dr. Choan is such a thorough doctor. She takes the time to explain everything, giving you options and coming up with a plan. I have never had to wait past my appointment time but that does happen in ALL medical offices for reasons we can't see. I saw the reviews and some were pretty bad in this regards. Overlook those reviews and you will find an incredibly knowledgeable doctor.
The NO FOLLOW UP DOCTOR. Terrible. She doesn't follow up after office visit. MRI IN June and no results given by doctor.
Dr. Choan was thorough and helpful for me, for the most part. But she made a stupid mistake that I had to pay for. I told her that I fainted once while I was working out. She determined that I'm completely healthy and at no risk, but she was legally required to report me to the DMV. I have no problem with the law, if she has to report me then so be it. She told me there's a 99% chance the DMV won't do anything. She pretty much guaranteed me that nothing would happen. But Lo and behold to my surprise, I get a letter in the mail saying my license was suspended. So I had to go days without my license, jump through hoops to get it back, and I had to pay Dr. Choan $45 for her to sign my form. Thanks a lot. Do not recommend.
Read the reviews and go elsewhere! This office is terrible. Staff and doctor don’t return calls, call in prescriptions when they say they will, fill out orders for follow up appointments etc. Dr. Choan and the staff are unprofessional and completely disorganized. Be prepared to have numerous messages ignored (even by a referring doctor). Unbelievable experience.
Dr. Choan is a very caring doctor to my husband who is well into his 90's and has dementia. Because of my husband's age, many doctors simply dismisses his medical issues because they don't think he has much time left. Recently, I've had one doctor who failed to notice the nutritional deficiencies identified in my husband's blood test. When Dr. Choan reviewed his latest test results, she saw the deficiencies and took them seriously enough to explain what kinds of meals and dietary supplements he should take to improve his condition. In fact, Dr. Choan has spent time outside of her office hours to explain to me the plan of action. She’s the first Doctor I have ever met with such a good heart. I highly recommend her. Irene Cheng

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
