Coastal Kids Pediatrics's Online Review Report Card

I will not be returning to this office and have recommended to all of my friends that go here they change their pediatrician as well. Our childs primary doctor has been changed which we did immediately upon leaving this office. We had our child vaccinated at 2 & 4 months, but after having two extremely scary experiences with vaccine reactions we decided to wait until he is a little older to continue with vaccinating. This was at his 6 month check up. Dr Laura Gordon is who we saw. When she asked why we are deciding to not vaccinate at this moment, I explained to her that I am not against vaccines (I am a registered nurse, have all my vaccinations, and have previously vaccinated my child), Im just a terrified mother who wants to do whats best for my child and proceeded to describe the reactions he had. Instead of trying to reassure me or create a plan for moving forward such as possibly spacing out the vaccines to monitor for reaction, she pulled out a binder and showed me the vaccine policy. She stated that if I dont vaccinate him he will not be seen anymore. I told her I understand and she condescendingly told me how passionate she is about vaccinations and then said so is that all then? and walked out. She completely dismissed and of my concerns while talking to me in a very condescending manner. After leaving the room, I could hear her speaking with other staff about my decision. I am absolutely disgusted with the way she handled our visit and her awful bedside manner. This was the worst experience I have ever had with a doctor.

I think the doctors and the staff are great but I knocked off two stars bc of the time management issues.  Every time we visit any coastal kids office, its about 15 minutes of care and over an hour of waiting.  In my opinion, this is not acceptable.  I really think this problem could be solved by booking less appointments.

2 starts for the front office on several occasions I walked in recently and the lady up front asked me if I was going to pay my bill I wasnt even aware I had funny (statement was sent to my home a week later ) anyway I was confused it was a no show fee when in reality me and my sons dr and spoken several times because my son had rsv 3 months prior flash forward my son coughed like clear your throat and shes like looking at him all rude and then goes how old is he can he put a mask on first off shes stupid because she has his chart in front of her so look at it for his bday he isnt even two thankfully I love his dr so I stick around because many things in the past have gone wrong over referrals for XraysToday I called because I went twice to cvs for my sons nebulizer they said they havent received anything I called Monday they said they would talk to the dr nothing I called today same thing she also told me that the fax didnt go through ... so why not pick up the phone with your hand and call it in .. I even said I can pick up a prescription ( which you apparently according to her cant do ) even though its been done before I go back to the cvs at 4:50 to find out its not called in wow shocking I call new port they said dr Harris isnt even there today which I also mentioned to Isabelle was her name

I absolutely love this practice, my children have been patients here since 2007 with my eldest daughter. I have worked medical and the doctors i worked for recommended this practice, as their own children were also patients. I havent been disappointed, and what better recommendation could you get than from a place a doctor takes their kids too. I love Dr. Jenny Hoffman, she takes time with us and remembers my children and their interests (with a busy practice that means a lot) The staff is awesome too!

Dr. Appt at 1115 and still not called back at 11:50. So disrespectful when doctors are this late.

While I understand some patients require far beyond the allotted estimated appointment duration, asking a customer to wait over an hour with a newborn is unacceptable. I ended walking out because I had to pick up my son from school. I was given no notice of the additional delays and the wait time I was told was complete inaccurate. We love Dr. Nylander here, but will not be continuing on with this practice because of mismanagement and lack of transparency regarding expectations around wait times.  At least the admin waived the cancellation fee.

I am very upset with this office and the way they are billing. Unethical billing without informing the patients in advance.The doctors are nice, but a few love to collect money rather than helping the patient.This office charges the patient not a flat fee, but based on the time the doctor spends to ask a lot of questions and at the end, they have no solutions, and they refer you to another doctor.I am so disappointed for not knowing the fact that they bill patients for the duration of the visit when clearly the doctor is trying to figure out what is going on with the child. This is not right. They need to figure something out to inform the patients in advance of what they are expecting to get billed for.

Was not very impressed by the overall services provided. The staff was fairly new it seemed and very few knew what to do. The nurses on duty were not very good at handling the newborns. I even got charged a $20 fee for transferring the records to a different Pediatrician outside of the coastal kids network and this was the first time I had to pay for transferring of medical records anywhere, so not sure how common that is. They have some good Pediatrician on the roster, but they barely have time to hear you. Also, the online portal where they are supposed to upload their reports/records etc is very very archaic. Many of the staff had conflicting opinion about how the system worked. Overall, expected better services from a South OC franchise.
