List of Compassionate Cancer Care & Research Center's Reviews
Fantastic place for cancer treatment. Dr. Eric Lee is one of the best oncologists I have ever met. He is compassionate and cares about his patients. He puts their needs first and gets results. Thank you so much.
This place may give the best care in the entire world, but I have been trying to reach them to make an appointment for more than 2 months. I have sent them e-mails, filled in the on-line request for consult form three times, and have called the Laguna Hills office 4 times asking for help. However, the bookings are done ONLY through the Fountain Valley office, and it is impossible to reach a human. The answering loop just cycles through over and over and never even gives you a chance to leave your name and number. I have worked in the medical field my entire working life and have NEVER been met with such a lack of customer care.
I have been utilizing this doctor's office for years. First, I visited for myself when I was diagnosed with testicular cancer in 1991, and then for my mother, who was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Currently, Dr Jhangiani is taking care of my dad. Conveniently located, clean, and professional.
Compassionate Cancer Care - while the name of this medical group implies a high level of compassion, the staff fell short of meeting the expectation. First and foremost, if you have a generous amount of time to spare, then Compassionate Cancer Care might be the right place for you and your family. The wait times were incredibly long, stretching a routine office visit to an exhausting 2-3 hours at times. The excessive waiting period can be quite frustrating/exhausting, particularly for individuals with pressing commitments or those who are already dealing with the emotional and physical toll of cancer. Furthermore, we were disappointed with the unprofessionalism displayed by the front desk staff in person and over the phone (not all of the staff and normal occurrence but often enough that it's noticeable). Dealing with rudeness is never pleasant, especially in a medical setting where empathy and understanding are crucial. The negative attitude and lack of compassion from the staff only added to the stress and anxiety of the patients and their families. Another area that needs significant improvement is the accessibility to the doctor for urgent matters. It's always a struggle to get a hold of the doctor/nurse practitioner when urgent concerns arose. Receiving timely medical advice or attention is of utmost importance when dealing with cancer, and the difficulties we faced in reaching the doctor were disheartening. Additionally, the phone system at Compassionate Cancer Care needs urgent attention. We experienced the frustration of having to call repeatedly, often 4-5 times, only to be put on hold for an extended duration of 15-30 minutes. To make matters worse, our calls would occasionally be dropped before we could even speak to someone. This level of inefficiency and lack of reliability is simply unacceptable, considering the gravity of the situations patients and their families may find themselves in. In conclusion, Compassionate Cancer Care has the potential to live up to its name, but it requires significant improvements in various aspects. The staff needs to demonstrate a higher level of empathy and professionalism, the accessibility to the doctor should be improved, and the phone system needs to be more reliable and efficient. We hope that these issues are addressed promptly so that future patients can receive the care and support they truly deserve during such challenging times.
We have had wonderful experiences with Compassionate Cancer Care located in Fountain Valley, CA. The staff at the office have always been friendly and helpful. We have had to use them on multiple occasions. My brother had been diagnosed with testicular cancer when he was in his 20's and was treated by Dr. Jhangiani, before Dr. "J" formed Compassionate Cancer Care. Then, in 2005, we found out that our mother had pancreatic cancer and was given 90 days to survive. We then reached out to Dr. J regarding our mom and with his intervention, our mom survived a good 7 years. Now, here we are 10 years later, and Dr. J is once again keeping our 96 years young, dad well. There have been times when with our dad, he was not well, and when we would call the doctor office, explained the issue, the office would get us in.
Dr Payman SALIMI TARI and his staff overdosed me on chemo meds and could of killed me and also potentially did permanent severe damage to my organs!! I had to spend a week in the hospital with horrible nausea and headaches. And they refuse to tell me how the overdose happened!! DO NOT GO TO THESE PEOPLE!!!
Dr. Eric Lee went above and beyond to fight for me to have excellent care. He worked tirelessly to consult at least a dozen other doctors that are the considered some of the best in the country to make sure his own plan of care for me was congruent with others that specialized in Lymphoma. He helped save my life and fought for me to have my biopsies, chemo, and radiation done promptly. He really cares about his patients. Dr. Lee and his team are an excellent example of how people should treat their patients. They have a lot of patients so please be patient with their staff. Also pro tip...don't ask what your chance of survival is...remember that number doesn't matter because it's not your number. Don't let your mind go negative right away and dont give up on yourself. Tomorrow is not guaranteed for anyone anyway. You get to decide how your care is done here. Wonderful experts!
I have received excellent medical care from this office for over a decade now. While I do not have cancer in the traditional sense of that word, I have a myeloproliferative neoplasm, or blood disorder, characterized by the excessive production of platelets. (Any unchecked cellular proliferation to excess that shows up in the blood apparently gets classified as a kind of cancer, and that's why my insurance sends me here, although I would seek treatment from Dr. J. even if my insurance didn't send me here.) Anyhow, they treat a lot of patients at this office, and there are several different doctors that I know of who see patients at this facility, but I'm pretty sure my doctor is the main doctor. The Head Honcho. The Big Kahuna. You get the idea. Dr. Haresh Jhangiani has been practicing medicine in the specialty fields of hematology and oncology since the year I was born. And I'm 43, although I usually try to get away with fooling people into thinking I'm somewhere in my 30s. I will maintain this pretense for as long as humanly possible.) Dr. Jhangiani is a wonderful doctor. Don't let his no- nonsense demeanor fool you, because he genuinely cares about his patients. He's been awarded with just about every accolade and honor a physician could ever receive. There are lots of shiny plaques visible in the reception area of the office, which is adjacent to Fountain Valley Regional Hospital, but even without noticing those, one can easily tell that Dr. "J." really knows his stuff. He recently performed my second bone marrow biopsy a few weeks ago. He also performed my first one in 2013. Thanks to him, I didn't have to suffer through the procedure; even though it was sore afterwards when the sedative wore off (there's simply no way to avoid that), he is one of the few doctors, and the only one I know of, willing to give his patients IV sedation to make the procedure tolerable. I cannot imagine someone having to endure a bone marrow biopsy with no sedation, but apparently sedation-free is the norm. I am very grateful to Dr. Jhangiani for his compassion, his expertise and his technical skills. He is a truly wonderful doctor, one I will be with for life!
Great customer service front and back. Dr's look into details to the visit... they make you feel that you are heard not like other Dr's offices. Dr. YU is a caring dr most definitely would recommend this clinic
Terrible customer service. I tried calling to confirm the time of an appointment for my family member and was greeted by a automated menu that kept repeating itself after I selected the appropriate department. When I finally got an answer from someone they just hung up. I had to call again and was rudely greeted by someone who hungup before I could even finish asking all my questions.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
