List of Heidi Cough's Reviews
I ended up with Dr. Cough almost by accident; I had been trying to make a new-patient appointment with another doctor in this group who was not available. I had an urgent situation and was in a lot of pain. We had relocated to OC during the pandemic and I had no established relationship with a GYN in this area (had briefly tried another GYN in Newport but that did not go well). The scheduling staff got me in quickly with Dr. Cough, who happened to have one opening. What an amazing find - she was kind, knowledgeable, and as it turned out, specialized in the issue I was having. She listened, and I never felt rushed. As she explained my situation and how she would treat it, I realized that that the doctor I saw in Newport had given me faulty guidance on this issue 6 months ago - if I had been told what Dr. Cough told me, I could have prevented the issue altogether. When I left Dr. Cough's office, I nearly broke down in tears with relief, knowing that there is now someone I can trust to treat this issue. Front desk staff and her nurse were all helpful and kind as well, and the facility looks brand new. Even with a 30 -40 minute drive, it is now worth it to me to see Dr. Cough as my regular GYN.
I’m went to her in 2019 with concerns of hormonal issues. I had having hot flashes and they had found cysts on my right ovary. Her response was “everyone is peri-menopausal until their period stops and then they are in menopause.” She didn’t offer guidance or assistance in getting help other than taking birth control which I have many issues with physically. I found her yo be rude and dismissive. I can’t help but wonder how people who become doctors don’t have to learn about having compassion or trusting patients when about their own bodies. I just now saw my records from 2019 and it says I have anxiety. This is what is on my chart because I tried to talk to a doctor about my issues and she lacked the skills to help me. And now I’m there doctors use that as a baseline instead of talking to me and trying to figure things out. I had a similar experience with the next doctor and can only assume this is why. Of course I have anxiety about this. I’ve had pain and difficulty for 5 years and no help. It Makes perfect sense to me. Also, should be mentioned that I went to emergency surgery rooms and multiple doctors for two years with specific symptoms. They all put anxiety on my chart and then one day I was finally diagnosed with chronic Lyme disease. Had one doctor out of many been willing to listen and trust me that I was not ok it could have an accrue infection that would have been cured with antibiotics but now I have a life long chronic disease.
Major Gaslighter I hate to give this review because I used to love Dr Cough, and I've seen her for over 10 years -- but in the past few years I've had concerns about PCOS and endometriosis which she consistently blew off. I had my GP order a pelvic ultrasound after my testosterone came back high and Dr Cough was offended it was even ordered. The radiologist's report said suggestive of PCOS and I had many follicles -- Dr Cough still said no, and basically made me feel like I'm a crazy hypochondriac. Now I'm seeing an endocrinologist dealing with horrible PCOS and suspect endometriosis due to excruciating pain and Dr. Cough is not even trying to offer any help other than birth control. I will be searching for a new doctor, very disappointed.
Extremely hard to schedule an appointment. Left 5 messages in the past 3 weeks with no call back. If you're able to go with a different OBGYN, I would do so.
Attentive, caring, and all around wonderful doctor!
Dr Cough is a fantastic OB. She was my doctor throughout my whole first pregnancy and did an amazing job listening and advising me, without ever judging my decisions. She was very warm and reassuring at EVERY appointment and always took the time to talk with me. I never leave reviews but I was looking for her phone number and saw that she only had a 3.6 stars rating, which is very inaccurate. She is a 5 star doctor!
I came to Dr. Cough with my wife for unexplained infertility after 5 years of trying. She did all the tests and said everything is fine and provided no clear path to conceive. A year later we researched a fertility doctor and are parents of a baby girl. We went to a different practice for OB.
My appt with Dr. Cough was great. I made the appt for my annual pap with her after reading some really good reviews about her, and then months later my husband and I moved to North Carolina. I flew back to California to keep the appt with her since it was just easier and I didn't know of any doctors in North Carolina to go to yet. Once I was in the exam room I waited probably less than a minute before she came in! I was immediately blown away by how warm, friendly, and genuine she was. She was very thorough and took her time talking with me and going over my family medical history. I felt like she really cared about who I was as a person, which seems to be a rare quality these days with doctors. I will more than likely just fly back to California for my annual with her because she is that wonderful!! Thank you Dr. Cough!!
Dr. Cough is awesome doctor, takes care of patients very well and listen to patients. Supporting staff is also very caring.
I am a 60 year old who does not enjoy pelvic exams (who does?). Dr Cough is my new doctor. She was on time, explained everything she was doing , was gentle and thorough. Her office was organized, staff friendly and professional.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
