Outstanding in everyday. My PSA kept going up, we monitored it, then had biopsy. Cancer found but small. Monitor some more, PSA up so MRI and biopsy. More cancer found, prostate removed. All cancer removed and had not spread outside the prostate. Slow and steady monitoring, testing and then final decision. I highly recommend Dr Randall

The procedure did not go as planned, but I did not want to give a bad review, and I followed multiple times with little to no response from the office and still didn’t want to give a bad review. This latest time for a follow up, I was in the waiting room for an hour and finally had to leave without seeing anyone.

Dr. Randall has been great before he joined the OC Urology Associates practice. He was very professional, patient oriented and attentive. Since he joined the OC Urology Associates practice the experience has gone down. Seemed that he could not spend more than few minutes per patient any longer. The office crew is definitely not as friendly and professional as it was before. Scheduling appointments has become a nightmare. My last experience - got a message that my appointment has to be rescheduled because the Dr will be on vacation. So far so good, understandable. However the next available date is more than 2 months after from my original date. And the final straw - few hours after my appointment got moved by 2 months, I got a call by very rude administrator asking for insurance details. After explaining that I was not at home to reach my information, she concluded that she will cancel my new appointment. So I am looking now for new physician.

I would rate the offices ability to answer phone calls, return messages, and ease of scheduling as very poor. This Doctor is experienced and skilled surgeon. He primarily treats male issues. Poor people skills.

One word it’s “terrible “

Perhaps Dr. Randal is great in the operating room with text book surgeries, but on the first office visit he came across very prideful and arrogant. Definately a bad first impression for both my wife and I. Will be looking for another urologist. On the plus side the office staff is friendly, and the wait time minimal.

If I could give Josh Randall a zero or negative star, I would. I have several issues concerning medical services my husband received from him. I will only mention the few most important ones. The first and most significant (life or death) issue involves a dilemma we had been dealing with for some years as my husband’s PSA gradually increased. After having had three negative biopsies by a different doctor in another state, we moved to Orange County, California and began seeing Josh Randall every six months to continue tracking my husband’s PSA and hopefully solve the dilemma, did he or did he not have prostate caner. At that time his PSA was 18, it is suppose to be 0 (zero). Unknown to us a year or so after he started seeing Randall, a new diagnostic MRI became available for use in diagnosing prostate cancer whereas up to that point only the PSA test, digital exam and biopsy were available and were not very reliable. Having access to my husband’s previous medical records in addition to having been seeing him for over one year, at which time there was an increase in his PSA, Randall dismissed its significance due to his negative biopsies. He simply did not believe my husband had prostate cancer. In addition he never did a DRE as had all our previous urologists, citing the fact that digital DRE's are unnecessary and not helpful. It wasn’t until our internist ordered a PSA on my husband, which came back at 28, that action was finally taken. To our horror, our internist became alarmed and emphatically told us my husband needed to see his urologist immediately. When we explained that my husband had just been to see the urologist (Randall) fairly recently, he became more alarmed and told us in no uncertain terms that my husband needed to be followed up with some meaningful testing and treatment. Following his advice we saw Randal and told him what our internist said. Randall then ordered another PSA followed by an order for a Prostate MRI. When we learned the Prostate MRI had been available for close to two years we were both confused, as we could not understand why Randall had not sent my husband to have it done sooner. The Prostate MRI revealed a distinct mass in the anterior portion of his prostate. His score was a 4 + 3, which put him in the moderate to advanced cancer category, (fairly aggressive), however it appeared that his tumor had not spread and was still confined to the prostate capsule. After further testing to confirm the cancer had not spread to the lymph, bones or chest, my husband had a prostatectomy with lymphadenectomy. His surgery at The City of Hope in Duarte was in January 2018. By the grace of God, the lymph pathology was negative and it indeed appeared that they got it all. As with other cancers, the five-year post-op point will be the best defining factor. Needless to say, after having the prostate MRI we stopped seeing Josh Randall and haven’t looked back in his direction until now to right this cautionary review. We have been told by every medical person my husband has seen that my husband is very lucky. There is absolutely no excuse for Randall not sending my husband to have the prostate MRI as soon as it was available. Another issue regarding Josh Randall, which actually came up a year or so prior to my husband’s prostatectomy, involves a small kidney stone he had in his right kidney that was not bothering him, however, his kidney function was at 76%, and Randall recommended a lithotripsy to remove the stone. My husband let it go for a bit since he was not in any discomfort, but after being hounded by his staff about it and being reminded that his kidney function was down to 76%, he finally agreed to have the procedure, which uses shock waves to break up the stones. I don’t know if Randall used too much force when applying the shock waves, but my husband has had pain in the right kidney area ever since. When we contacted his office following the lithotripsy about the pain he was having, we were told the “doctor” would call back. We never got a call back from Randall or anyone else in his office, not even just as a matter of practice to see how my husband was doing following the procedure. When we complained about it, Randall simply scuffed at us and put the blame on his staff. To make matters worse, my husband’s kidney function is now 56% (down from 76% before the procedure), and he still has occasional pain in that side.

As my PSA continued to rise over the past five years. I contacted Dr. Josh Randall. He looked at my numbers, did a DRE, and told me I was fine; not to worry, to come back in six months. It turned out that I had Prostate Cancer. I found out from another Urologist, who insisted on a biopsy. If you're looking for bedside manner or a friendly, doctor, Randall is fine. If you're looking for competence, look elsewhere. Continuing with Dr. Randall could have been a fatal mistake.

My first experience with Dr. Josh was very impressive. He's a great listener, takes time to work with you (doesn't make you feel rushed) understands "personalized medicine" and gave me full confidence that he could treat my condition. I highly recommend him to anyone!

Dr. Randall is talented, up on the latest surgical techniques, has a great bedside manner, and explains everything. I wish some of the office staff was up to par, they are awful at times. Long waits on hold, calls not returned as promised, and sometimes saying things are "protocol" rather than asking the doctor.
