List of Gail T Schoenau's Reviews
6/30 Appt: Great first visit, Gail acted like she cared about my 3 month long abdominal pain, signed me up for an endoscopy, ultrasound and bloodwork. I was so grateful. Gail was supposed to contact pharmacy for anti-nausea and anti-acid as discussed. Gail was supposed to give recommendation for primary care because I don't have one. 7/1-7/5 - I had called the doctor office every day asking when my medication would be sent to pharmacy, would only be able to reach an "answering service" to give my message to the doctor. Never got response from doctors office about my medication, nor did the pharmacy. 7/6: Endoscopy with anesthesia $$$. Doctor office sent in anti-nausea medicine to pharmacy almost a week late. 7/7: Ultrasound $$$. 7/7-7/10: Contacted "answering service" asking status on anti-acid medication. 7/10: Blood work $$$.7/10: Second visit with Gail Schoenau. My experience was the worst I've ever felt with a "doctor." I actually took down the statement below online 1x because I felt bad about sharing this experience and Gails reputation. After I discussed the situation with my fiance, we decided to repost - it's best new patients avoid this person at all costs, so here's my statement:I was quite offended today by Gail Schoenau. I've never left crying from a doctor visit, but that happened today. I've been dealing with constant stomach pain, gas, and nausea since April (3 months). My first visit with Gail was great, she signed me up for some rather expensive testing and procedures, I was willing to do anything to find the problem causing my illness, so I completed all testing and procedures as requested. I was grateful I found someone who cared about my health. I returned to Gail Schoenaus office today for a follow up appointment they scheduled for me. Instead of going over the results of the endoscopy or ultrasound, she came in, didn't say hi and didn't look at me, and told me she was concerned about how many anti-nausea pills I've been taking because it is habit forming. I told Gail I received only 8 pills from the pharmacy, and I've only used 1x pill when I couldn't see straight anymore/ needed to work. I was actually nauseated at the visit, but not nauseated enough where I'd take another pill.Gail became very defensive, pulled a paper out that showed she sent over 30+ pills on 7/6 (a week after when this should have been prescribed) at the pharmacy multiple times. I told Gail again I picked up only 8 pills, which was fine. I didnt know why this happened at the moment, I'll explain more below.Gail schoenau said everything looked good on the endoscopy and ultrasound, no bacteria, did not go into detail for anything, she gave me no time for questions. That was confusing to me because my endoscopy paperwork said I had inflammation coming from my lower intestines, and I wanted to see what kind of further testing might need to be required. Gail prescribed me 2x antacids. I told her I'd rather not take more meds but rather find the reason to my pain. Gail said that's exactly what we were doing, which is more testing. For your reference, there's no more current testing or procedures to do, I'm at a standstill with no actions to improve this. I don't understand why Gail said that.I told Gail I'd really like to be off all meds by October because I'm getting married. Her response was, "What does your wedding have to do with taking medication?" I said I'd like to be better, and dont like the idea of being on medication for a long period of time. Gails response was, "it probably won't be better by October."Then Gail asked me about my primary care. I again told her I didn't have one, and I needed a recommendation. She rolled her eyes! I'm thinking, you knew this and were supposed to give me your recommendation on 5/30! Gail did not ask me anything about my current pain or physical state. Her last statement in the office was quite bogus and stamped the approval she could care less about taking care of my health. From the point where Gail had a disconnection with the pharmacy was when I felt like she was treating me like I was drug-seeking, I felt like she thought I was lying about my pain. I felt like she was disgusted with me, not looking at me and her tone of voice was talking to me in a demeaning parental tone. She cut me off and brush off any questions I tried to ask. She walked out and didn't say goodbye. I thought she had a bad day, but clearly that was not the case. After Gail passed me in the hallway to another patient's room, you can hear everything. Laughing and catching up together.7/12 - Contacted Pharmacy about disconnection with anti-nausea meds. Conclusion: Gail Schoenau submitted 1x prescription of 30 pills 1x week late. My insurance allows only 8x pills a month, so that is what I received. Gail Schoenau failed to submit the anti-acids since 6/30. Gail schoenau again prescribed the anti-acid meds 7/11, this request has also not been given to the pharmacy yet.
Having been a medical health care provider for over 35 years, meeting Dr. Schoenau in a clinical setting was a breath of fresh air. Dr. Schoenau is professional, intelligent, communicative and caring. She combines up to the minute clinical knowledge with old school kindness. Many of my patients over the years sang her praises. Now I know why. Who could believe that a Gastrointestinal procedure could be a wonderful experience?! Me! Thank you Dr. Schoenau! You're the BEST!
I/we had the most odd experience with this doctor's office. I made an appointment for my boyfriend on 1/10 around 4:30pm for 1/19 at 9:50am. I had a whole conversation with the receptionist that day plus obviously have the record of my phone call in my recent calls, as well as in the notes in my phone. The day prior to the scheduled appointment no one called us to remind us of the appointment, which I found odd, so I called on the morning of to confirm. I spoke with Rosa, who says the office has absolutely no record of the appointment I made and even if we had made an appointment, that they would need to reschedule because the doctor would be out of office this week. Note, I am an executive assistant for a living and I have never once had this happen in 6.5+ years of my work so I am not sure how this mishap happened. Also, she neglected to apologize for their mistake and just kept saying they didn't have an appointment for us and that we would need to reschedule. Not awesome...
Amazing !!!
I have been going to Dr. Shoenau for a few years now and I've had nothing but a great experience interacting with her and the staff. She is attentive, caring and always looking to see how to help. I highly recommend.
Personable but offered me no plan of action.... or follow up! She finished our first appointment stating she was going to call the radiologist that did my ultrasound. And she sent me for another blood test which came out normal..... I thought that was caring and proactive. It’s now 2 weeks later and nothing has happened... did she call? Did she call and speak to the radiologist?Couldn’t reach? What happened? When there is no plan to help you heal, or to have NO game plan, it’s time to move on.... which I did. Found another GI doctor who has a solid plan, more tests and communication..and seems to really want to help. Also have a timely follow up appointment... so I would say there are better doctors out there that will be concerned about your health.
Dr. Schoenau admitted me into ER after i arrived to her office in severe pain. She called the emergency room and provided the hospital with information which made everything run smoothly for me. I appreciate the care and fast action of Dr. Schoenau. Previously, i have had a colonoscopy and 10 years later an endoscopy with Dr. Schoenau which were easy, comfortable, and no complications. She reviewed my labs and explained them to me in depth. I highly recommend her for any GI issues or internal medicine questions.
Dr. Schoenau is an excellent GI doctor and her staff are extremely friendly. Very little wait time, pleasant accessible office, first class care.
When your new GI doctor says she is going to call the radiologist regarding your ultrasound... that sounds caring .... but when 2 weeks pass and You don't get any call back from her on that conversation---- like zero--no plan of action-- it's time to move on. Which I have! She is personable and spent time but what was the point? I found a new GI doctor that is really concerned about helping me and is taking ACTION!
Dr. Schoenau saved my life! During a colonoscopy she discovered a very rare melanoma in my rectum. This diagnosis is usually fatal as it is found too late. Dr. Schoenau recognized what this might be and biopsied it so that I was able to have the proper surgery which saved my life. Following the surgery I had an abscess, for which the surgeon did not prescribe antibiotics until 3 weeks in. Then he said not to take them as I didn't need them. I called Dr. Schoenau who said, "Take them!"Overnight I was a different person. The pain diminished, my energy came back and I became hopeful again. The follow-up appointments with Dr. Schoenau have always been helpful and caring. She spends lots of time with me and explains everything well. The staff is wonderful. The office comfortable. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.
