Review Summary
Dr. Brian Su received overwhelming positive feedback, with patients praising his skillful surgical expertise, attentive care, and compassionate demeanor. However, there were a few negative mentions, primarily citing receptionists' disrespectful behavior and indifferent attitude. Overall, the practice excels in delivering exceptional spinal care yet it needs better administrative processes.ScoreDoc Score

List of Brian W. Su's Reviews
I experienced significant neck and shoulder pain, as well as pain radiating down the entire left arm, with associated numbness, tingling, cramping and weakness. The symptoms were brought on by weightlifting (which I have done for over 45 years) although I cannot point to any particular event that caused it. Conservative care failed to provide any relief, including epidural steroid injections in the cervical spine at C6-7. Surgery was the only option. I researched a good number of spine surgeons all over Northern California. I wanted a surgeon that was not only experienced and the best, but who also was personal, caring and compassionate. I wanted to get back to work as soon as possible and to working out. The symptoms were taking a toll on me because they were 24/7. My research took me to Dr. Brian Su. His credentials were outstanding. His videos on spine injuries and surgeries were very educational. I could tell he was surgeon who cared. I practice personal injury law and have for over 36 years. I consulted with many doctors that I knew and all of them indicated that Dr. Su was one of the best. When I met him for the first time, he was cordial, compassionate, understanding, and a good listener and he explained every option to me in great detail. I felt more than comfortable with him. He has an extremely busy practice and is highly sought after. Nevertheless, he understood I was in a great deal of agony and I simply just wanted to get back in the gym. Dr. Su performed an artificial disc replacement and fusion on me in mid August, 2022. After waking upon from surgery, I did not have any radicular pain. There was no more tingling or numbness or a stabbing pain in my shoulder pain. I was back to work in 8 days and after six weeks, I was back in the gym although lifting lighter weights for more repetitions. I am asymptomatic. I cannot begin to thank Dr. Su. He essentially gave me back my life after 8 months of tremendous pain. I will never forgot what he did for me. I cannot recommend him enough, as words themselves are simply inadequate to describe what he did for me. If you need a surgeon, Dr. Su is the best choice!!!!!
Dr. Brian Su absolutely changed my life. I'd been suffering with severe sciatic nerve pain since May 2022. My previous orthopedic doctor only told me I had an MRI of an 80 year old (I'm 54) and told me there was not much that could be done. I visited Dr. Su in Sept 2022 - he reviewed my MRI and found the problem - a cyst & bone spur. I had surgery with Dr. Su Oct. 2022 and immediately after surgery the pain and pressure was gone. Absolutely an amazing doctor/surgeon and person!!!!!Thank you for your gifted hands and kind heart.
Dr Su is amazing! My review isn’t a first hand account of surgery. Instead it’s one of how Dr Su saw me as a patient - taking the time to understand my symptoms and situation instead of just looking at my MRI and CT scan (though he did that too and saw things two other surgeons missed). After assessing me, he advised me NOT to get surgery and took the time to explain why as well as the risk for both scenarios. I was severely lucky to have been recommended to him and can’t recommend him enough to others.

He is an amazing doctor, he has a game plan and only does surgery as a last resort. I have full confidence in him when the time comes that I will have to bite the bullet and have mine !
I never anticipated that I would be climbing Mt Lassen three months after my spinal fusion!!Dr. Brian Su rocks! My only regret is not getting my surgery earlier. I could barely walk without unbearable pain before this. Thanks Dr. Su!
Still healing after neck spinal surgery January 30, takes awhile, had a problem with my shoulder (palsy to right arm due to some nerve damage) hoping Physical Therapy will resolve the problem… fingers crossed! Neck healing slowly but surely
My wife, Susan, herniated the L5 disc and was laying on the ground for 6 weeks before reaching out to Dr. Su, based on amazing recommendations from others in our circle. We started by watching his videos which were incredibly helpful in understanding what was coming. And, his patient, calm and thoughtful manner was great for my wife, as she had many questions and fears. She was worried post-op as the sciatic pain was ever present. He was incredibly responsive to her concerns, like no other physician I have ever seen. The surgery was truly successful and we did our first hike 10 weeks post-op. No sciatic pain any longer. We are grateful to Dr. Su, and highly recommend him. Seriously, he rocks!
Poor attention to marin community clinic patient referral. After waiting over a year i was met with an unwelcoming assistant and a doctor that will do me a favor and see me anyway. I left numerous messages to prepare and not one call back. to assistant and fulfilling all of Dr Su imaging he asked for . Big waste of months getting images just to be turned away t like you were an uninvited guest. He said shot might take away symptoms . He only takes surgery patients but he's the only one assigned to MCC. Made no sense.
I am a neuroscientist living in San Francicso and had a complex problem with my cervical spine. I consulted five highly regarded specialists who differed as to whether I needed surgery now and also what surgery should be done. Dr. Su’s clear, detailed explanation of the surgery stood out. He advised me to wait. Fast forward 3 years and my symptoms increased slightly. Dr. Su said that I could have surgery now or continue to watch it. Although I was apprehensive about lingering postsurgical pain, I opted to do it. To my delight, I was able to stop pain medications and go for long walks within a week. At 12 weeks postop, I have no residual pain, none, and have no impairment of my head movement. I attribute this remarkable recovery to Dr. Su’s superb skill. Uniquely among the surgeons I know of, Dr. Su does follow-ups for a year. He has an informal friendly manner and gives each surgery patient his cell number. His support staff is excellent. I feel fortunate to have gone to him for help.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
