Carlos Martinez, Md's Online Review Report Card

My husband James had been delaying eye surgery because he did not trust the previous doctor he was referred to. This year, he was referred to Dr. Carlos Martinez at Eye Physicians of Long Beach. At the initial visit, his staff took his medical history and performed diagnostic tests using state of the art technology, then we met Dr. Martinez who is personable, a good listener and communicator. Dr. Martinez is an MD, a Board Certified Ophthalmologist and Surgeon who has extensive training and experience necessary to treat eye conditions. After several appointments, Dr. Martinez earned our trust and confidence in his abilities. Without hesitation, James agreed for Dr. Martinez to perform his cataract/glaucoma surgery. As expected, the surgery went well! Dr. Martinez restored my husband's vision. Dr. Martinez is the best of the best! He is a healer and a beacon of goodness that shines light unto his patients. We are fortunate to have met him in our lifetime.

Recently had cataract surgery. Dr. Martinez was great. He clearly explained the process and the results were fine. I did have a bad experience with one of his staff, Cory. First, I had to ask her name because she didn't introduce herself. Then when describing my eye condition to her issues post surgery, she told me in a rude way not to describe anything else unless I first stated which eye I was referring to. (hint, it was the eye I just had surgery on & there are other ways of making requests and speaking to patients). A little later another staff popped in and mentioned something to her. She sighed and started to complain to me about how stressed she was because her computer entries were not being saved properly. I felt like saying that maybe she forgot to type which eye before doing the entries. Plus excuse me, but I had to take off early from work, drove an hour in traffic, and am still healing from surgery . I was stressed too but I didn't take it out on the office staff. Her whole attitude was pissy, unprofessional, and rude. The other staff that I dealt with were fine. I give a 5 star rating for the doctor and 4 for staff. 1 star for Cory.

Great place, they know their stuff. They have a lot of good eyes and stuff there.

My eye surgery went really well and Dr. Martinez, was great! He explains everything thoroughly in a way that gives you confidence. Had both my eyes done with him and I am very happy with the result! I highly recommend Dr. Martinez who I found to be an excellent surgeon and caring doctor. I also found the assistants very thorough and professional. The office wait can be long sometimes and the ladies in front office are a little dry, but overall is a good place and Dr. Martinez is wonderful!!

I went to see this doctor after l switch from another office in Huntington Beach, I was very pleased from the get go the office people including Allen were very helpful and professional a lot of human touch that l was missing from my previous doctors l am looking forward to a long lasting patient/doctor relationship

This is conveyor cataract surgery. This is financially motivated medicine. You are no more than a file folder and a dollar sign. Staff are poorly trained robots. Surgery went horribly wrong.

On Fri day July 7, 2023 Be careful sending your love ones to this facility. The staff does not glove or mask they touch the computer, writing Pens, equipment, even scratch their head, rub their Face and ,touch the patient without gloves, Mask or washing their hands.! Brian is kind and Knowledgeable, being sanitary would help! My 84 Year mother was brought to Dr. Carlos Martinez after the short exam My Mothers appointment was at 10:30 AM and was not seen until 1:30 PM Dr. Martinez told my mother that she "had a stroke in her Right eye" I requested some type of pain medication for my mother, I was told "it would be sent to her pharmacy" (which by the way was not sent to the pharmacy) that Friday afternoon. 07/07/ Exiting the room, Dr. Martinez was close cuddle with a female in the hallway who appeared to be upset- total unprofessionalism! I called at 3:45 following up about medication to pharmacy still no return call! Pharmacy stated "there was no Prescription called in for my mother" Saturday, July 8, 2023 Our Family brought Our mother to the emergency room in Long Beach Memorial was examined by the ophthalmologist on duty . He informed my mother and family Reason for so much pain My Mother was with the eye pressure of 70 Normal eye Pressure 15-20 on Dr. Carlos E. Martinez outgoing messages to public states a phone number that can be called or use for emergency purposes. Additionally that we can leave a text message. ( Eye Physicians of LB: Mrs.Bea's appt is today, Sep 21 at 4:05 PM. If you have questions call (562) 799-2020. Reply HELP=help. STOP=End msgs) There was no doctor on-call that returned the phone call , Nor ANY RETURNED PHONE CALL !! My mother was seen by Dr. Bei Ling in Long Beach. Dr Bei immediately assessed my mom extreme compassion, Dr. Bei was set to take vacation. However, she stayed on to assure my mother would have this procedure in the next few days seeing the eye pressure Dr. Bei helped her with a Eye Procedure 07/21. My mother Eye Pressure is now at 15 thanks to Dr Bei stepping in. Here's the worst ! Here we are in September 21,2023 continuous calls from Eye physicians of Long Beach for a returned appointment. ( which, by the way, I called and removed my mother from any further appointments at Eye physicians of Long Beach. Today I make a phone call to once again remove my mother from the roster or any further phone calls I spoke to! "Isabel " states that she is "" currently at the office today" Isabell is sick with the virus and at work. I suggested that she go home and get rest being in the medical field. I admire the heroism of her trying to work however, it doesn't support the fact that our nation has suffered COVID-19 along with any virus spread! Isabel stated "" you can talk to your daughter that way but don't talk to me and hung up The phone on me ! The reason for my call was to request that my mother be removed from the roster of physicians eyes of Long Beach is making sure they keep the appointment not following up. Be careful sending your love ones to this facility. The one star that I posted was for BRIAN, the MA, however... The entire staff needs to glove and mask, or at least wash hands in between each patient and scratching their head and rubbing their face. Dr. Carlos E. Martinez pay more attention to the conduct of your staff and their delivery to the public, additionally, do not book so many individuals on the same time and date appointment. It's inconsiderate and uncomfortable for seniors that have served this country with dedicated commitment. Dr. Carlos E. Martinez. May have had successful cases However, this is my mother place yourself in our position to watch her in the ER room for 20 hours before roomed in unbearable pain until this day. Never a returned phone call or follow up call only a confirmation call to keep appointment. UN HEARD OF! UNREAL! INHUMAN !!!

Rude and seems to be surgery happy My mom went through cataract surgery with him and he was short and condescending throughout the whole process. A year later she went for a follow-up and instead of addressing her concerns, he told her she needs more surgery and one on the other eye which she doesn't have any problems with. Seems like his ego drives his behavior not concern for his patients.

Dr. Martinez is very kind, competent. and professional. He readily answered my questions to my satisfaction.

Carlos has been my eye doctor for at least 20 plus years even though I now live in Arizona 250 miles away and see him 4 times each year. My vision is too valuable not to do the drive and see the best.
