List of Carlos Martinez's Reviews
Dr. Martinez is very kind, competent. and professional. He readily answered my questions to my satisfaction.
I really like Dr. Martinez. He is clearly knowledgeable about the care of my eyes and I trust him fully. However, whomever is in charge of scheduling and the customer experience...they need training. The wait to be seen is excessive. I am a very busy person, as many are, and it is routine at this office to be there in excess of 1.5 hours for an appointment. If all of the staff focus on the experience that they would like to have as a patient, this would be a home run practice.
Carlos has been my eye doctor for at least 20 plus years even though I now live in Arizona 250 miles away and see him 4 times each year. My vision is too valuable not to do the drive and see the best.
Staff was friendly and informative. Dr. Martinez was professional and informative about Medical procedures as well as Nutritional advice for eye health.
Someone a prior review was inked to the wrong person so I am rewritingI have been seeing Dr. Martinez for over 5 years. I have few eye conditions he is monitoring.I have total trust in Dr. Martinez skill and expertise. He is an excellent, caring physician.I am extremely happy that he is my ophthalmologist
I have been seeing Dr. Martinez for over 5 years now.I have total trust in his expertise.Dr. Martinez cares about his patients.I am extremely happy he is my Ophthalmologist
Incompetent staff! Given incorrect information from Tina, Indria, Elsa and others etc. Day of surgery called with questions regarding what I could consume before procedure. Could not receive an answer from anyone. Was put on hold for twenty minuets. only to resort to contacting Oscar the CEO for assistance. Second call from Oscar I was advised to take my business somewhere else. because I yelled at his staff ! sadly the patient has no validity. this is after I had taken medication and set up my transportation etc. feel bad for Dr. Lars Hertzog. Disenchanted with Dr. Martinez, tried to sell me different lenses for $3,450.00 each plus $1,600.00 for my astigmatism. Told him I did not want a Ferrari just a Porsche at seventy three basic lenses good enough. I felt I was at a used car dealership. Also the rhetoric was beyond acceptable. Bottom line If you want malarkey, I urge you to see them. If you have a brain this is not the place for you. They do not value intelligence! Indria tells you one thing and does another( she hates driving from Ontario to her job) too much malarkey ! Tina does not listen, told me she does not make the appointments with memorial care. Memorial care expressed that the doctors do the appointments not the center. who's on first. Kari Joseph gives lip service spoke to her with issues how the front office does not identify themselves when answering the phones or advise you on basic protocol, which then turns into you having to make a second appointment . I am shocked beyond! Hope to speak with Lars and get his perspective.
Eye Physicians of Long Beach processes a lot of patients, the waiting room is typically full, and wait times typically exceed 30 minutes. They have a tendency to lose track of the purpose of your visit and want to perfrom redundant tests whether you need them or not. The doctors I encountered (Martinez & Moarefi) were rude, did not answer all my questions and concerns, and became argumentative - they seem to have forgotten who their customer is. Also, information provided by technicians is inconsistent with what the doctors provide. If you don’t want to feel like you’re one of the cattle, I would stay far away from this place.
All I can say, Dr. Martinez is a rare type of doctor who actually genuinely cares about the patient. When my regular ophthalmologist bailed out on me a few hours before a long awaited, and a few times rescheduled surgery, he stepped in and saved my day. First, I was shocked and didn't take the news very well, but he found the right words to convince me that he will help me. And he did! Now, I have my sight back, and I am so profoundly grateful that he volunteered to be there for me.
Felt like I just got scammed. They charge me 200$ for less than 10 minute talk. They didnt even touch the eye that I came for. I waited longer than what I was there for. Ridiculous. Worst experience ever.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
