I was referred her to this place after moving to the LB area, saw Dr Osley and had my body check and skin issues addressed! She didnt use medical terms but called my spots pre cancerous and they needed to be froze off! Ok not my first rodeo with that and she also did a biopsy as I had a small suspicious area also not my first rodeo! She told me in 2 weeks I could come back and get results also have the spots frozen as I was leaving for vegas that weekend! Upon checking out the older woman i assume is a mgr or something spoke to me in medical terms and I wasnt sure what she was talkjng about! Rather than explain she spoke to me very passive aggressive and asked "didnt you go over this with her just now"? My response was i was gonna come back in 2 weeks and she said "No it says 6 mnths"! I started to tell her I didnt know the terms she was using and she wouldnt just be nice and explain! Instead I stood there getting upset as people were in waiting area and she told me to go back behind door into back! She didnt let up and I got pissed and told her "Before I get angry Im gonna leave this situation"! I walked out and canceled my appt!! I have one of the best insurances and can go anywhere and upon yelp searching there are many others to chose from with better reviews! Its really a shame as dr osley and her assistant were very nice! Its a group therefore I will get my results and go elsewhere because this Woman was a bit$h!!!!!
Incoming essay alert. This is the first bad review I've written in my entire life. My experience here was so poor that I feel obligated to warn others. I highly recommend staying away from this dermatology office, or atleast specifically Dr. Jackie Beshir. I came to Comprehensive Dermatology of Long Beach because over the last two years I've had issues with hair loss, I believe due to seborrheic dermatitis, which appeared around the same time. I have been able to get the dermatitis under control with medicated shampoo and steroid foam, but my hair has remained much thinner than it used to be, which was why I booked this appointment. As I am a woman only in my mid 20's, the hair loss has been very concerning and upsetting. I was really looking forward to this appointment, expecting that this dermatologist would have a conversation with me about my concerns and be open to figuring out what could be causing my hair loss, whether that was doing a scalp biopsy, bloodwork, etc. Boy was I wrong. Dr. Beshir spent literally five minutes with me. I'm actually not even sure if it was that long. As soon as she came in and asked me to explain why I was there, she immediately latched onto the fact that I had seborrheic dermatitis and didn't care to address the hair loss at all, despite this being the entire reason I was there. She looked at my scalp for a brief moment and said she saw a few white dots but it didn't look bad. She also looked at my chest where I had some bumps and said "What's going on with your scalp is the same thing on your chest". She explained the bumps on my chest were fungal, not bacterial (we'll get back to that part). She then prescribed me a medicated shampoo and steroid foam, two things that I already had been using the last year and a half. She could see on the computer that I already had these prescriptions. She said "Use these and then we can address the hair loss." I was so confused and politely said that I had been doing exactly that the last year and a half, I didn't think anything would magically be different. She looked at me with an annoyed expression and said "I don't have a cure for seborrheic dermatitis" Yikes. I was well aware that there's no cure. I think she could tell that I was kind of stunned at her attitude and response so she then said "Okay I can prescribe you an anti fungal medication". She said this would help with my chest and scalp. This medication did nothing for my scalp or chest. I went to a different dermatologist a month later. He scraped a sample from my chest to look under a microscope and determined the bumps on my chest were bacterial. Knowing that it was bacterial, I was able to treat it correctly and my chest is now completely clear. If Dr. Beshir had cared to take a few minutes to do this, she would have known it was bacterial too. I really didn't mean to type out a whole essay here, but I just couldn't believe how terrible this appointment was, so terrible that I'm still thinking about it two months later. I felt so disrespected and unheard. This doctor couldn't even set aside ten minutes for me. I wasn't expecting a miracle, I was simply expecting a doctor who was open to listening to me and wanted to help me, not rush me out of their office as soon as possible. Certainly for a place with the word "comprehensive" in the name and a $40 copay, I wouldn't think the bare minimum would be so much to ask for. It's extra crazy because in Dr. Beshir's bio it says she "takes the time to listen to patients" and "is committed to providing the highest quality of compassionate care" Like dude you're kidding right...? How can someone be lacking such self awareness? Do yourself a huge favor and stay away from this place. Unfortunately zero stars is not an option.
It's a good office with good dermatologists. Clean rooms. Free parking outside. They charge a service fee if you use a credit card. The price is a little high if you do a price comparison.
This dermatologist was recommended to me by my hairstylist. My Dr. was patient, smart and thorough. Really happy I found this place.
From my experience I'd say it's not with your time. My appt was over an hour with about 15 m with the doctor. The doctor spent most of the time pitching products and services. The back office staff is totally rude and arrogant. Why so arrogant? It's embarrassing. The front office - one nice and competent lady, the other two were bleh. The person who works in between also could not be bothered by simple questions. So rude. It's really not that hard to be decent to people. The back office staff should really try it. Not sure you are above everyone but you sure act like it. They need training or just hire better? I'd try another place if I were you.
As others have mentioned the front desk staff are incredibly rude. There is also 0 transparency in billing, you do not know what will be covered and how much it will be. If you're having a procedure done they should submit a preauth so the patient can know what their expected out of pocket costs will be. Their costs sent to the insurance company is high. I understand that's what practices do since they will only get a % reimbursed however my out of pocket cost might have been cheaper If I cash payed. No one know since they wont provide you with a price list. The office seems to be more focused on aesthetics I'm assuming since that is cash business.
I'm a patient of Dr. Katie Osley at Comprehensive Dermatology in Long Beach California. Being fair skinned and having spent much of my youth in the desert sun along with countless hours in the sun as an adult, I am having to deal with sun induced skin issues. Dr. Osley examined me and charted a course of treatment. It included removal of active actinic keratosis sites through conventional treatment("freezing") and proposing a more comprehensive approach involving photodynamic therapy. She explained in detail the process, its drawbacks and benefits. As I had experienced in previous visits, I was greeted by a friendly professional staff who took me directly to the treatment room. They explained in general what the process was and how it worked. Being wheelchair bound, a few obstacles were present and quickly overcome. Upon Dr. Osley entering the treatment room, she added additional details about the procedure and encouraged any questions. All were answered to my satisfaction. The procedure went as expected; nothing occurred that wasn't expected or planned for. The process itself involves some pain but not beyond what I had been prepared for. I can't say that the procedure is pain free, but the thorough explanation and professionalism, kindness and friendly nature of Dr. Osley and her staff reduced any anxiety and made the experience as pleasant as can be expected.
Sidenote: Hopefully, this time they'll actually acknowledge this review, as I've noticed their recent reviews have been really bad--with not even a single reply. That alone should tell you what kind of business this is. I have been a loyal customer of this business for over 13 years, even back when they were at their old location. I have purchased a product they call "Triple Action" multiple times without any issues. However, on my most recent visit, I was suddenly told that I now need a prescription and must pay a $250 consultation fee to obtain it. The frustrating part is that I have already purchased this exact same product from them on three separate occasions--without ever being required to have a prescription. When I questioned this, they admitted they had made a mistake, but this wasn't a one-time error. It happened three different times. If a prescription was always required, why did they repeatedly sell it to me before without one? And if they made the mistake, why am I the one expected to pay for it? To make things worse, they claim they have no record of me as a patient, despite the fact that I have been going there for over 13 years, even receiving facials in the past. They never provided receipts or paperwork for the three times I purchased the cream--just charged my card without documentation. I'll be pulling up those charges and posting them as proof. When I called to discuss this, Brianna was the one who initially spoke to me. She then passed me on to her manager, who seemed more focused on asserting authority rather than understanding the issue or offering a solution. Instead of taking responsibility for their mistake, they refused to acknowledge any fault. The least they could do is take me in as a client and discount the $250 fee since this issue was caused by their negligence--not mine. At the end of the day, businesses should care about their customers and the future of their relationships. But instead of offering options or making things right, this manager was dismissive and unwilling to help. Someone like that needs to be taught how to actually care for customers instead of shutting them down. This experience has left a bad impression, and I would caution anyone thinking about doing business with them.

I have been a patient here for over 12 years.. It is the best of all my Drs. offices in long beach. Tania and Maryann and all the girls in the front office are always very helpful and welcoming. Dr Hamidi is my fave dr (although i've seen them all) all the girls in the back office are just as kind and helpful as the girls in the front.. I feel most people take the time to write negative reviews and people don't take the time when it's good.. so here i am taking the time..i've had skin cancer and also used their cosmetic services. I will never leave this office until they close the doors and lock them :)..
