I had a great experience. Going through this program I was able to take accountability, realize things, love myself, and treat others with kindness in a safe and supportive environment. The staff are super understanding and helped me achieve my goals in life. After going to this program I am in such a better place and truly believe I wouldn't be where I am now if it weren't for this program. At times I had challenges and things were difficult but it made me overcome so many things and make so many strides in my treatment and life in general. I am so grateful I had the opportunity to go through this program.

Don’t send your child here. EVER! Within 24 hours of checking our daughter into this place she was allowed to check herself out. Because…she’s 17. She was allowed to leave with no money, no cell phone, and no contacts in a state 1000+ miles from her parents

some of the staff here are complete assholes to you. some make fun of lgbtq+ people they swore were disrespectful toward us were completely unprofessional and when i asked for help i was often told "i don't care" "that sucks" "ok" or just flat out ignored. sometimes they would even kick the beds or yell at us to wake us up. most of the time "process groups" were just all of the clients trying to get at another one. do not recommend this place to anybody suffering mental illness.

My son went to the Center for Discovery in Long Beach in June of 2020. Our experience was very positive. Our admissions counselor, Kryshel was understanding, helpful, efficient and professional. From the moment we dropped him off, we knew we had made the right decision. The facilities manager, Alexis was very kind and professional during the intake process. My son's therapist, Randolph was excellent. He included us in our son's recovery. His follow through and communication were great. He held our son accountable and taught him strategies to use in the future. Even during COVID, with very limited options for getting out of the center, the therapist (Shelby) made an effort to utilize non-traditional therapy options, such as going on hikes, and cleaning up the beach. My son had nothing but positive things to say about this program. During our daily phone calls, he was always happy and positive. Our lives went from absolute misery to being a family again. I feel as though, my husband and I have this program to thank for that. I would highly recommend this program to any family who is having substance abuse and/or anxiety concerns with their teenager. Thank you!

If I could give 0 stars, I would. My daughter went to the "residence" in Long Beach for treatment for anorexia. I did not have any other choice as the other help centers had long wait lists. There was no one there that was a specialist in eating disorders. The other girls had many different issues..schizophrenia, depression, suicidal, autistic, violent behavior. My daughter and her roommate were terrified every night, and weren't allowed to close their door. I could actually write for an hour about how terrible this facility is, but will just say that I took her home after about 10 days, and she was a wreck. I'm writing this now because I was horrified to learn that "Dr. Phil" is sending some of his guests to CFD. Do not use this "facility".

I can't say enough about this place. Our son stayed at the location on 31st street - a beach house with only 6 boys. The therapists and staff have been easy to approach, super helpful every step of the way. They tailor their program to each client, truly. When my son tells me about the conversations that he's had with his therapist and other staff members (and they verify the conversations happened too), I am so grateful to have found this program. Peter (director) is well respected by all the staff, and that says a LOT. Shelby was our therapist, and she was with us every step of the way. We were terrified trying to make the right choice of who to entrust our son with to help get him on a healthy place. I'm so grateful for Center for Discovery! My son wants to stay in contact with many of the staff as he moves back home and forward in recovery. He even built a report with the nutritionist/cook! That says a lot to me!

My son recently finished the residential program and my husband and I are very happy with this program, the staff, the psychiatrist and especially my son's therapist. All were very respectful, amd easy to talk to. We have worked with many therapists and we feel this one really dig deep into the underlining issues and worked with my son and us in a very constructive, respectful and caring manner. My son has chronic depression anxiety for 7 years and had substance abuse problems. He came home more optimistic and hopeful than he has been in over 5 years!! He wants to remain sober and continue to going to AA meetings. The offsite AA meetings they took the boys to really opened my son's eyes and he realized for the first time that he needed to change his path. He also was able to really analyze his life and problems through this program and is using the coping skills. They provided us with a home contract upon discharge that clearly outlines how to proceed when he came home and how to address and all of our issues. We also felt the family sessions were very well planned and very comprehensive and prioritized family's needs. This helped significantly and we continue to use what we learned regarding communicating, validating, rebuilding trust and more. The group family sessions also added support as well as more strategies to support and move forward. Our therapist answered my phone calls or emails very promptly and thoroughly. I strongly feel my son is on a better path towards reclaiming his joy and his life then he has ever be We did another program before and it was a very bad experience for my son and he came out worse than when he began. I highly recommend the Atlantic program Center for Discovery.

By far the worst treatment center available. The staff are completely unprofessional and do not have any respect for the parents of the children there. DO NOT USE THIS FACILITY FOR ANY TYPE OF TREATMENT!!
