John Issa's Online Review Report Card

I've had the same problems as everyone else's reviews. The first thing this man said to me was, "what's wrong it better not be complicated". I was in the E.R having seizures... Incredibly unprofessional and rude. 1 star is to much. 0 stars would be to much. This dude shouldn't be a doctor.

Recently our family member was hospitalized at Los Alamitos Medical Center with complications of advanced lung cancer. Dr. Issa was the "hospitalist" assigned to the case. Upon discharge there were SEVEN prescribed medications given but never called into the pharmacy by this so called attending physician. Our Family only found out about these medications once our family member had to be re admitted a second time to Los Alamitos for additional issues with breathing. Upon the discharge from the second visit there was a list of medications prescribed by this Dr. (from the first time in the hospital) that were never called in. He did not follow through on care that resulted in a potential life threatening reoccurrence. Not only did Los Alamitos not communicate these meds with us we found them on the discharge paperwork upon further investigating we learned they were never called in by this so called Doctor. So for weeks our family member went without 7 medications! Absolute recklessness. Negligence doesn't even begin to describe his lack of integrity. It is deplorable - hence his 1 star rating. For anyone seeking medical needs from this Doctor our advise would be to please take heed to our review. Do not put yourself our your loved ones in this mans care! (I won't even dignify his so called title) Elevated investigation will be sought.

My 93 year old father in law was told by this doctor he would be discharged at 10 AM. The doctor didn't actually give any orders. The family waited all day, contacted the nurse who eventually got ahold of the doctor, who told her he was going to discharge him but had forgotten. Two hours later there was still no discharge order. The doctor did not return any calls to his exchange. Very questionable. And while you could say we should be thankful a frail man survived, that's another story, there were a number of mistakes and delays of care that were more the hospital's fault so we can't necessarily put those on the doctor.

While visiting family in the area, my husband was assigned to Dr. Issa after being admitted to LAMC through the ER and diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer shortly thereafter. Dr. Issa semed scattered, disorganized, and disinterested. Very dismissive of our concerns, "Ho-hum" responses. Contradicted himself from sentence to sentence, leaving us confused. Difficult for the nurses to reach him. If it weren't for the wonderful nursing staff and specialists, we would have felt totally unsupported, though we didn't expect Dr. Issa to be an expert in any area covered by the specialists. He seemed always in a hurry to be done with us, and some of the things he said just didn't track. The prescriptions he left for us on discharge were incomplete and hand-written, so they could not be deciphered by the pharmacist, who was unable to contact Dr. Issa for clarification. This resulted in stress for our family and delay in my husband's receiving relief from some symptoms. I do NOT recommend Dr. Issa.

If I could give minus stars for this pretend Dr. I would. My wife admitted herself to the ER at Los Alamitos Hospital for difficulty breathing. She was diagnosed with congestive heart failure. While she was there she contracted COVID19 and the hospital did everything they could to get her to leave. After two days she was transferred from ER to the regular floor and Issa was in charge of her case however she cannot remember ever seeing him in person. All of her meds and treatments were done by nurses who were for the most part very good. They transferred her out of their hospital to a COVID shelter for homeless people at 4:30 PM on a Sunday afternoon to fulfill the rest of her quarantine period. I don't know how this man is allowed to practice medicine or how this hospital is allowed to treat patients this way without severe actions being taken. I was told by the hospital administration that they just didn't have the room to keep her. What a terrible, dangerous joke this place is.

One star is too good for this man. I won't even refer to him as a doctor. He attended my Mother at Los Alamitos Medical Center referred by Dr Weisch. Mother had been admitted with a diagnosis of double pneumonia and given Zerthromyacin IV in the ER. The following morning found her remarkably improved and it appeared there would be a positive outcome THEN Dr Issa took over her case and she ended up in ICU that afternoon followed by her medication being turned to generic: given a heavy duty diuretic and denied any fluids at all. Thinking this a very temporary thing to relieve her system of excess fluid I said nothing but neither did DR Issa. As more time went by I tried to access him to determine what was happening and he NEVER talked to me ONCE. The nurse told me he was sitting right next to her one time I called and refused my fall. I then realized Mother was receiving no liquids or nourishment of any kind...still no communication then they intubated her so she couldn't speak and restrained her so she couldn't tear out her tubes. The one time I confronted a doctor caring for her I was told to leave him alone and let him do his job. Only the nurses spoke to me and they gave me positive reports. I had become upset over what was happening and tried to get another doctor on her case but no one would do that. Finally, my personal doctor, who wasn't on staff there, sent a specialist to check on her. The day he was there I was told Mother was doing much better and would be off the ventilator the next day. She was because she died two hours after they told me that. After all was over I got her medical records and the lady in records told me to do what I had to do about the DR that it wouldn't hel;p my Mother but could hel;p others. Oh and in those records was the report of the specialist my personal doctor sent. It read "Prognosis poor. Family needs to be talked to." No doctor ever spoke to me or gave me information about Mother. If I had it to do over I would take her out of that place and get her to where she would have had proper care. In my opinion the care DR Issa gave her contributed to her death.

Shows up for 30 seconds.arrogant,nurses can’t stand him.....I discharged myself AMA,within minutes as it was obvious he no interest in any patients...

My mom was taken to the hospital by ambulance when I thought she had a stroke. He is her doctor and after three calls to his exchange, he never returned the call. I finally spoke to him in the hospital when his supervisor paged him. He was uncaring and rude. I filed a complaint and the supervisor wrote it up and submitted it to the record. Avoid this quack, whatever you do. He is not fit to be a caring doctor.
