Saved my life, TWICE!! In 1992 he replaced my Aortic valve with a Mechanical Valve. In 2016 he repaired my ascending Aortic Aneurysm. I was 37 yrs in 1992 and in 1 more month I will turn 70 yrs old! 17 years, still ticking! Dr. Sakwa installed my St. Jude aortic valve at Beaumont Royal Oak, Mi. in 2005. Still going strong 17 years later without complications. I strongly recommend him and his team.

Aortic valve replacement I found out in early 2022 that my heart valve was in serious trouble. This led to a meeting with Dr. Sakwa for the surgical option, which I wanted and soon. I liked the fact there was a full expedite to get my heart valve replacement setup and done. All the coordination was handled through Dr. Sakwa's office for scheduling, pre-op and eventually the procedure and recovery. Having never had a medical need such as this in the past, it took a huge load off my mind to have it all handled without much input from myself. From what I could gather, he did a stunning job with the aortic valve replacement. I am very happy with the overall experience and excellent outcome and it's just early March 2022. Amazing stuff......!!

I’m glad Dr. Sakwa was my surgeon. I could not be more happy with the outcome of the valve replacement surgery performed by Dr Sakwa. I had no complications. Everything went perfect. Now, 6 weeks after surgery, I am back to being active and I feel great. I highly recommend Dr. Sakwa.

I did a lot of research into local heart surgeons after it became clear I would soon need an Aortic Valve Replacement. Dr. Sakwa stood out as a leading expert at minimally invasive procedures which I was hoping to have performed. My cardiologist also said Dr. Sakwa would be a good choice of surgeons. At my first consult with Dr. Sakwa he confirmed I was a good candidate for a mini thoracotomy instead of doing the more traditional sternotomy. He listened to me, answered all my questions and clearly explained what I could expect from my upcoming operation. I walked away feeling confident that I was in good hands. Shortly thereafter, my aortic valve was replaced at Long Beach MemorialCare hospital without a hitch. Dr. Sakwa and everyone at Long Beach MemorialCare performed superbly. I had no complications at all. I have to admit the first couple days after surgery were rough. There was pain which I was warned to expect even for having had a minimally invasive procedure. But I quickly improved and was discharged 4 days after surgery feeling much better. As I write this from home 6 days from my surgery, I have no pain and I'm quickly regaining my strength. I would highly recommend Dr Sakwa and Long Beach MemorialCare hospital for cardiac surgery.

Dr. Sakwa is extremely knowledgeable & kind. He explained the prognosis and my options, answering all my questions. I highly recommend him.

My experience with Dr. Sakwa is ancient history. Dr. Sakwa replaced my Aortic Valve in 2007, in Royal Oak, Michigan. He did a triple bypass for my wife 10 years later, he did a marvelous job in both cases. I have recommended him several times to friends since. I might even travel to California should I ever need his services again.
