Richard Berkson's Online Review Report Card

I was a patient of Dr. Clark in Dr. Berkson's office. He left the practice and switched me over to Dr. Mohtasebi. I will not be seeing Dr. Mohtasebi again. The telehealth appointment with her was so bad that I told her she would not be my doctor moving forward. That didn't go well, either, so I had to actually tell her, "I'm getting off the phone with you now." And then I ended the video call. I'm a person, not just a collection of lab results. I've been dealing with thyroid issues and endocrinologists for over 20 years. I stayed on the Telehealth call with this doctor too long. I should have ended the Telehealth call before I lost my temper, but I didn't. I gave her a piece of my well-informed mind because my quality of life *right now* matters; and I deserve to have a doctor who believes that my life is worth living well and who will find creative solutions to make that happen. Dr. Mohtasebi is not that doctor.

Great doctor

Very professional, courteous and timely staff. My experience has been good. I look forward to be a long term patient. Dr. Yasman Mohtasebi is the best endocrinologist that I have ever had.

After moving from the bay area I've been in desperate need to continue with a new endocrine team and I finally have that now. I've seen the same endocrinologist for more than 15 years in the San Jose Bay Area. With Hashimoto's disease and type one diabetes with some complications throughout my life it's been very difficult to find a specialist that just gets it that knows their job and who is damn good at it I feel super blessed to finally find that in Dr Yasaman Mohtasebi! I look forward to getting my levels back on track and because I know she knows her stuff I know this will happen, she was very clear and forthcoming about my medications and her plan for my well-being I felt very cared for I felt heard and I haven't even been able to fill that with my primary care so I'm super super grateful again for that not to mention the staff there were so helpful they help me complete my paperwork as I am also visually impaired . They were very informative kind and courteous. From the looks of the outside of the clinic you would never know unless you came what a wonderful team they have I guess it shows you can never look on the outside of a place to know what really is happening inside super super grateful

Hmm... I'm trying to decide the best way to write this without being unhelpful. Positives: Visiting the office has always been great. Everyone is incredibly helpful and kind. I personally have been going there for 3 or years and haven't had issues with waiting more than 10-15 minutes when I've gone. My doctor is Viswanathan. I like her a lot because although she's firm, it's because she really cares and wants the best for her patients and isn't afraid to shake up treatment methods to do so. I feel the sentiment is the same for the other doctors there as well. Negatives: Phones. While it's a VERY busy office, it is almost impossible to reach someone or get a call back the same day of leaving a message, which can be super frustrating for anyone living with a chronic condition and pressing matter. I go to other offices that use a callback method, but the difference is that they get back to you within the hour of your call... not a day, days, or never. I wish they d change their practices, because while the office is great overall, important things have fallen through the cracks at times and u wasn't able to reach someone there. So they're great, but going to this office requires lots of planning and oversight on the patient's part.

The phone rings forever, in the week that I called several times daily, NOONE EVER ANSWERED THE PHONE, NOT EVEN ONCE! Now, I can understand a short staffed office, being on vacation etc BUT the message states that ALL CALLS WILL BE RETURNED WITHIN ONE BUSINESS DAY..... three messages left, four days gone by and not a single returned call. Perhaps Dr Berkson has no idea how neglectful his staff is being to current and prospective patients. I'm glad I found out before it was too late. I have never encountered such an unprofessional Doctors office....DONT WASTE YOUR TIME!!!!

Have you ever said: "My doctor's appointment policy is that I don't ever have to make an appointment. He's never busy." OR "My doctor's waiting room has plenty of chairs It's always quiet and empty." Dude!!! You're seeing a doctor that NOBODY WANTS TO SEE!!! Not the case with Dr. Yasaman Mothtasebi and the the rest of The Endogrology Team in Long Beach. These guys are busy! There is only one reason for that. THEY ARE GOOD. What is wrong with all you self-centered little whining b*tch**s that you think you're too good to be put on hold?! What do you think the office staff is doing while you are waiting for them?! Having High Tea with the Queen? Yes, they'll cut you short when you start blabbering. Yes, they're a little edgy but if you weren't such an uptight Orange County Republican you'd realize the support staff are caring and real and funny (a real added bonus!) I'm not lying. And yes, they can be a little cocky on the phone but it is only out of a true sense of pride that this is one of the best - possibly THE BEST endocrinology teams in the world. I live in Hollywood so it's more than a little jog to get to them in Long Beach. Sylvia, the office Manager who made my 1st appointment chuckled proudly (and yes, a little cocky), " We have people from all over the world who plan their sunny SoCal vacations around their appointment with us." FYI: She's my new bff! Really!

Ok, so after about 2 years and 2 other endocrinologists, I found myself back to Dr. Berkson. My PCP asked me to try and see Dr. Berkson again because apparently the endocrinology I was seeing at the time was not able to manage my symptoms. After only 5 months of seeing him, Dr Berkson was able to manage my thyroid disease. My thyroid numbers are still not perfect but it's getting more stable and we are on our way to decreasing my medicine dosage. The office is still the same old bungalow and the wait time is still very looong but I have learned to accept it. I thought to myself, the wait time is a lot better at the other endocrinologists that I have seen, but I was not getting better - i think that is worse that having to wait for your appointment, right? Staff has gotten better. They are nicer, more prompt and you can tell that they have the willingness to help. Don't let the conditions of the office affect you like it did to me. Looking back, had I stayed with Dr. Berkson before, I am probably off my medications by now.

Dr Berkson is not currently working and I'm uneasy with Dr. Mohtasebi and her quickness to prescribe meds without all the testing completed. The office staff is attentive in person, but very bad about answering phone calls or returning calls after a message is left.

This review is for Dr. Mohtasebi and office staff. They will not answer phone ever!!! I've been diabetic for 15 years and was recently sent here because previous doctor was a pediatrician and I wanted a doctor who sees adults. Mohtasebi won't even listen to what I have to say for my diabetes. I'm on an insulin pump which gives all facts about how much insulin I need so when I ask for three months supply she refuses to give any. Pretty sure if I don't get insulin I die. Office staff lost my paperwork for pump supplies. When I did manage to get a hold of office staff after being on hold for an hour they never returned the call. Huge waste of time. I recommend seeing someone else.
