List of Steven Lake's Reviews
Been going to Lake for many years. I have never had a problem. A very honest, soft spoken, knowledgeable doctor. Willing to spend time explaining procedures and making you comfortable.
Doctor Lake is thorough and came highly recommended; I've never had any issues. He does have other medical staff conduct physicals (last one I had was from a cardiologist from India) but he'll ask if your comfortable with that (everyone needs to learn somehow). The main issue I'm having now is that they're extremely slow on processing a short-term disability claim through work (thanks COVID). The insurer needs treatment notes and test results from Dr. Lake, but seeing as I couldn't see him (because COVID) and I've already sent the insurer labs and doctor's authorization to return to work, I'm thinking my claim is going to be denied.Nothing like doing the right thing, calling work, informing my manager of my status, having a positive work ethic and getting screwed over because something which I have zero control. They've had an entire MONTH to do this and now it's down to five days; unless there's a minor miracle I'm expecting a denial. If they can't even send a single page fax, I'm almost completely certain they won't process my disability claim from the state, which would be funny if someone from EDD contacted me asked if if I got paid from work...I'd tell them no so the state would have to pay me for two weeks of missed work instead of one (because the insurer doesn't cover the first week of disability).I instructed the receptionist just to fax them a statement with the dates of my positive and negative results, my return to work date and something staying that I never saw doctor when I had COVID because the office won't allow patients with COVID entry into the office. He's a great clinician but their office staff, while polite, can't seem to process what I'd consider a simple request.
I wish I would've known about Dr. Lake 25 years ago when my previous primary physician retired. Dr. Lake is thorough and will actually talk to you & take an interest in your health. If he prescribes you medications, he will also follow up with you routinely to make sure that you're ok with the meds & they're doing what they should be doing. At my first appointment, he explained how he approaches patient care, and I've yet to see anything that tells me he's not invested in his patients' care. His front desk staff is great and getting appointments to see him in a timely fashion has never been a problem. I'd recommend Dr. Lake to anyone seeking a physician to be actively involved in his or her health! Thank you, Dr. Lake!
I have been his patient for some time and I appreciate his attention to the whole person.
Dr Lake was either having a bad day or he really needs to stop practicing already. He was so rude and belittling to my uncle and I. He made assumptions a majority of our visit and when we told him otherwise he proceeded with a smart ass remark. If I could give him "0" stars I would. He was the worst experience, hands down! I don't care to ever see him again.
I have been a patient of Dr. Lake for a few years now, he is very professional and takes time with patients. He has always been very accurate with my illness and prescriptions.
He listens to you and is always available if you have a problem. His front office deserves a 5 star rating always helpful and kind.
Dr. Lake became my doctor over 25 years ago and now he takes care of my parents, grown children, and brothers and sisters as well. He personally met me at the hospital when he told me to go to the ER for abdominal pain. He gets to know you so that he knows what is going on with you. I trust him completely.
Uuh..I thought I was the only one who had a BAD experience with this doctor. Read the 1st review below and I totally agree how he behaves with elderly patients. This doctor did not answer his phone two days in a row when the nurses urgently contacted him during night (because he was on call physician for this patient) when the post surgery patient had medical problems. The nurses had to get hold of surgeons. When asked by surgeons and the nurse next day, he said that he never got any calls (???)...a lie!! Also the way he talked to the patient was very rude, and abrupt. Total lack of any compassion. He just did not care. For rating him here I had to pick at least 1 star, and he deserves zero. He should not be assigned as an on call doctor by Long Beach Memorial Hospital.
I found Dr. Lake when I was a Patient in intensive care. I believe that if not for Dr. Lake's attentiveness I would be dead today. I have always been treated with respect and I am never hurried when I am in his office. Dr. Lake is always aware of new findings in medicine. I have been well taken care of.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
