this was the worst appointment ever. i took my father for first time and we waited an hour to be seen.to top it off i wanted to speak to the manager she was the worst she did not help us at all and was really rude. Another thing was the girls in the front desk are unprofessional.this is really disappointing they need more training and be professional .

Andrea was very polite, I’m very good at explaining my situation. The thing she’s not sure snot, that my anemia has gotten worse since my ileostmy reversal operation, she is requesting labs for so we can figure out what to do about it. She very conscientious, attentive and kind.
My horrible experience with the negligent unprofessional and rude office manager. They forgot to request a bed for me and instead of apologizing turned around got angry thinking maybe by bullying me, I would go away. I did go away and left but told the doctor how I felt. Then Dr Marathe in hospital where he lied to me on the effect of my first chemo telling me there was no change when in fact the cancer has shranked 60%. My insurance liason wanted me to report him to medical board but I did not want to ruin his career.
The dr was amazing but the front desk and some of the MA’s are unprofessional

My husband is in need of his medical records for another Oncologist and this place will not send the records. We have signed releases but there is always something wrong. I have been trying for about three weeks. His new Oncologist will not issue an appointment without these records. From all his doctors these people are the worst! I was told that I could pay for the records at .25 cent a sheet if I needed them so bad!!! What is wrong with this Oncologist office? If all the other doctors accepted the signed releases why can't this office? Is it about the money?? Have some compassion for people that are fighting cancer and stop making everything so difficult for the patient.
I rescheduled an appointment, I usually see a doctor at Long Beach office but they reschedule me to the Alamitos office to be a phone call appointment. On the appointment day somebody called me to let me know she is sign me in and that the doctor will call me on the appointment time scheduled, the was to be about four hours later from the sign in. I waited forty five minutes past the appointment to give then time, and I called to check why the doctor have not calling yet. Office personnel tell me the doctor will not call me because I need to came in person, they have plenty time from the day I rescheduled to the day of the appointment, and on the day of the appointment to let me know what was the problem, but no they did not have the professionalism to call me and let me know what was going on. Then I called Long Beach office and ask then for an appointment to see the doctor I regular see, they give me the appointment for a couple day after to be also by phone and again play game with me the doctor did not call me, then I call to check what happen and repeat the situation as previous day. Both Long Beach and Los Alamitos office have a office personnel that need to learn how to treat patients, as for me I will never go back to the Oncology Institute even if they are the only Cancer office available. I do not recommended.
.. So, I called on 1/26/21 to make an appointment with the oncologist Dr. Marathe, for my father who was just discharged from the hospital. When I called I asked the receptionist if my father would be authorized to be seen- they asked for his medical insurance information and she responds, “oh yes, the doctor is within the network. I was like that’s AWESOME!” So, he doesn’t only need to see him one-time post discharge but he will continue to be authorized to see him if needed. I get to the appointment half hour early, we complete the new patient paper. 5 minutes later I am being told that she had to send the request for authorization. Another 5 minutes fly by and she says, “I’m seeing here that although we are waiting for authorization your father will need to pay $188. dollars because he is not within network. I don’t know much of how Covered California works but I’m livid by this time because although I made the payment she came back and said that my father cannot be seen because she still didn’t have authorization. I was beyond livid at this time. I had the following words with the girl that originally made the appointment. So, it is very disheartening when we are told that my father has to follow up with Dr. Marathe, an “ONCOLOGIST” I went there worried and upset at the information I was about to receive, then they tell you he can’t be seen. So we waited a week for staff to decide to submit a request on the day-of for authorization, charge me a “copayment”, and in the end say, we can’t see you! Apparently, a patient is entitled to see an out of network doctor post surgery or admission without a payment. This practice is sooo insensitive to the patient and families. And yes, no one was friendly nor did anyone else step in to try and help. There was no manager on-site. I did report this to the manager who was off site. I wouldn’t want other families to go through something like this. So inefficient and unprofessional. Apparently the request was submitted prior but because people are working from home we fell through the cracks. Just saying just in case you are referred to this office. A call prior to explain what to expect and or the possibility that he may cancelled would have been the right thing to do

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
