My husband Bill was assigned to Dr. Watson Desa at the old FHP hospital. Bill had experienced a seizure at work (he also worked for FHP), which WAS witnessed by his coworkers. There was NO question as to whether he had a seizure. Bill was subsequently admitted to FHP hospital. Instead of ordering a CT scan of the brain, which is the standard of care post seizure, Dr. Desa bullied my husband into having a permanent pacemaker inserted into his heart. HE WAS 36 YEARS OLD. Well, guess what? AFTER the pacemaker was put in, Bill continued to have seizures. Dr. Desa completely missed the aneurysm in my husbands right temple ... the size of a golf ball. Dr. Desai also flat out refused to allow Bill a second opinion. We believe Dr. Desa wanted practice with pacemaker insertion. The aneurysm was successfully excised by Oleg Chikovani, at Hoag Hospital. We cannot recommended Dr. Desa ... he is incompetent. His care of my husband was medical malpractice. NEVER TRUST THIS MAN!!!

Dr. Desa saw my mom for abnormal EKGs. He was very kind and understanding. He answered each an every question as if it was the most important thing in the world and never once acted as if it was the dumbest thing he had ever heard. He was very patient with us and understood exactly how worried we were. I highly recommend this doctor.

Found Dr. Desa in 2007 when I was admitted to Community Hospital E.R. for soaring blood pressure. Prior to meeting Dr. D, I'd had other cardiologists who were very perfunctory and impersonal, or just reviewed charts prepared by their P.A.'s who saw their patients and dispensed pills, and assumed one didn't have a brain. In one case, I decided I'd be better off with a veterinarian! Dr. Desa is so different from the usual impersonal cardio-office. Dr. Desa takes time for and really listens to every individual patient -- and remembers what you told him, even about your personal and/or family life. If you're having trouble with a medication, or symptom, he listens. He also sees all his patients himself, not through a p/a or nurse-practitioner. He feels like a friend, and because he cares, it shows in his professional practice and procedures. Dr. Desa has shown me that cardiologists do have hearts of their own, after all!
