List of Amy Oro's Reviews
I'm sorry but after almost 17 years of having Amy Oro and Altos Pediatrics be my kid's doctor. We have decided to look for a new doctor. My daughter is going to be 18 so thank god she won't have to come here anymore, however, my son still has about 3 + years and we plan to switch. I can't stand the staff that works there. They are probably the worst people and could care less about anything except themselves. Oh, and did I mention they will charge you for making them actually have to work. Example, I bring a short 1-page health form that Amy Oro is required to sign and provide a couple of dates on vaccinations. This will take 1-2 weeks? Are you kidding me? if I want them to rush it's $20. What a scam. They are rude and just bothered every time you ask them a question, careful cause they may charge you $20 to answer it. Communication with the docs is non-existent. The docs are not listed in the MyChart listing. Not sure why, I guess, I would have to pay $20 to have them listed. Stay away, I'm sure there are better Pediatricians out there in the Los Altos, Mountain View area.
Dr Amy has been taking care my two kids. She has been very professional, kind to the kids. The conversations with parents have always been very pleasant too. Staffs are very friendly. My kids had few emergency cases before; we received great care, advices, and follow-ups as well. I am very thankful for the cares she and the clinic gave to my children.
My children see another doctor within the Los Altos Pediatric group, whom we love and trust for over five years now. However, my son was presenting a fever for over three days and I brought him in. Our normal doc couldn't see us that day, So Dr. Oro did. She looked my son over, and decided his fever was caused by bacterial or viral infection....continue monitoring and give us a call if it doesn't go away. Fine. I get it. I understand the reluctance to use antibiotics so much with kids, but he's had a fever for nearly three days. I called in another three days, and my wife took Finn into the office. Again, he had to see Dr. Oro as she was the only available doc for patients rolling in without an appt. Again, she looks him over and suggests waiting for several more days because she thinks his body was trying to fight back. It had been over a week of fevers at this point and I told her that he really needed to be starting an antibiotic at the very least. No, let's wait and see was the answer I received. After several more days of lethargic behavior, sporadic fevers (outside of the ibuprofen/tylenol doses), his color not looking good, we head back to the docs office for the third time....it's been just about two weeks at this point. This time I informed the front desk that seeing Dr. Oro was a no-go.....that another doctor was required to see him. My 7 year old son was so out of it after fighting fevers daily, he was taking on a grayish pallor and couldn't even get himself up on to the table. I had to pick him up... Thankfully, our regular doctor at the practice managed to see us that day. I gave her the rundown on symptoms. She gave him a thorough checkup and provided us the appropriate antibiotics, which I had been asking for since the first appointment. My son started to look and feel better inside of the next 36 hours, and made a quick recovery and was back in school three days into the antibiotic. So frustrating!Dr. Oro may be technically proficient within the majority of her pediatric practices, but her inability and/or reluctance to provide medication/antibiotics within the appropriate timeframe, which we were well inside of, put my son in danger. He's a healthy kid, but if Dr. Oro can let a nasty virus or bacterial infection stay at work on a seven year old for near two weeks while presenting a consistent fever, then I have a major issue with her judgement.I don't like complaining, but this doc really scared me. Two thumbs down.
Dr. Oro has cared for a whole generation of my kids. I have 3 and we started with her 18 years ago. She is very, very good and dedicated. And the clinic that she runs with several other female pediatricians is a well run and a caring place. So, if Dr Oro is not available or in office at a given time, there is plenty of exceptional back-up help for urgent care situations. Dr Oro and Altos Pediatricians are top notch. Just go....
Great office and doctors. Dr. Oro is knowledgeable and respectful. The team works together to provide service when sicknesses come up.
She is a great pediatrician - very good with parents and kids. She never rushes any appointment and takes time to LISTEN and answer/explain to parents' queries. My 10 month old daughter was hospitalized for a whole week for pneumonia because her previous pediatrician did not diagnose it on time. Neither the pediatrician nor anyone else from the clinic (old Camino medical group - Fremont and Mary intersection) came to see her in the hospital even after repeated requests from my husband and hospital staff. A friend suggested Dr. Oro, and with just one call (I didnt even have to transfer medical records), she came the same day to check my daughter in the hospital. She reassured us and explained all the treatment, told us exactly what to expect. Since that day, she has been our pediatrician and we have no regrets with either her or the others in the office. She is absolutely a great doctor.
She missed things with both our boys, and did not follow up on known problems!
We love Dr. Oro! She has been especially helpful with food allergies and transition to solids. Dr. Oro gives excellent practical advice, some of which she has probably learned from being a parent herself. I also appreciate that she respects the individual choices I have made for my daughter and understands that each family is unique.
Dr. Oro is great with babies, teens and those in between. (And she's good with parents, too, which is probably just as important.) She's a good listener and is able to put kids at ease. Dr. Oro is part of a practice with several pediatricians, and the others that we have seen we have also liked. Years ago we felt that the practice was overly busy and therefore it seemed like there was always a long wait. The office is efficient with insurance billing, school and camp forms and the like.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
