We were only in this program for a few weeks since our daughter ultimately needed a higher level of care. But during the time that we were at HTP, we were so impressed with the level of individualized care that our daughter received. I totally agree with the other reviewer who said that other organizations pay lip service to providing a team-based approach but that HTP really delivers on that promise. Everyone on the team, including the therapist, nutritionist, medical doctor, psychiatrist and other staff and support staff were completely on the same page regarding our daughter’s status and needs. HTP maintained a continuous stream of open, ongoing communication with us and our daughter the entire time we were there and all of it was delivered with the highest level of expertise and compassion. They always made time to help us, answer our many questions, and fully supported us until we were able to transition out of the program. I am so thankful for this organization and the people who work for it.
Was forced to go here as a patient and it was truly awful. The therapists are the most incompetent ones I have ever worked with. Honestly the worst program I have ever been in, please do not send your children here find another solution.
HTP took the time to get to know our child and our family, incorporating our experiences with mental health and therapy before creating the right plan forward. We knew going in that wait lists are long; the estimate that they gave us was accurate and they provided guidance for how to care for and support our child in the interim. Our time at HTP was during the height of the pandemic. Their protocols were good and care went uninterrupted thanks to their ability to quickly pivot to online when needed. (Though, I think everyone would agree that in-person is the best approach.) HTP worked closely with us on a transition plan after the program and we're happy to say that our child is thriving three years later.
I'm incredibly grateful for the compassionate, high-quality care provided to my teen (and our entire family) by the Healthy Teen Project. In particular, many medical systems pay lip service to having a team-based approach; at HTP, every member of my child's care team was completely up-to-date with what was going on with my child any time I communicated with them - it was impressive. I'm thankful for the intensive support they provide to the whole family. I recommend HTP without reservation.
We were so fortunate to have HTP as our child continued her recovery. The HTP team is experienced and compassionate. They understand how to challenge the ED, and are great coaches for parents. Having a child with ED is distressing for the entire family. We are grateful for all that the entire HTP team has done for us.
I tried to come here for php but they wouldn't admit me and kept making a huge fuss over the fact I'm vegetarian and severely lactose intolerant, making excuses that they "couldn't accommodate me" and proceeded to push back my start day for about 2 months until they finally suggested residential so because of that my parents couldn't get me on wait lists for residential until later on so I ended up in psych wards for ages which were not helpful and a fairly traumatic experience, until a spot opened, all because of something so preventable.
I must say I never write reviews but I was shocked by the negative one given here. The program literally saved my daughter life. Katie Bell is an amazing and kind human been and all the staff was really amazing. An eating disorder can be very overwhelming for the entire family and if I look at my self when my daughter started the program I felt so confuse, tired, upset with the entire world and yes I did felt sometimes everyone was doing the wrong thing. But I must say, they did not give up on my daughter and I did not give up on them and they just did what I could not believe could be done. This program does help, I could not be more grateful about what they have done for us and I will not stop thanking them for taking my daughter in their program and for literally performing a miracle. It is hard, and you are not suppose to love things that make you uncomfortable and they defined did, make us all uncomfortable at time, but the results were great and I truly believe my daughter would have not be where she is now without them all. Definitely highly recommended.
The Healthy Teen Project (HTP) program works! We had tried Family Based Therapy (FBT) before but that did NOT work for us at all. Fortunately we found HTP and never looked back. HTP provided us what no other treatment program could in a single place: non-resident program, medical health monitoring, personal therapy, group therapy, in-house dietician and nutritional education, strict structure, discipline, parent education and a positive, supportive environment for both teens and parents. HTP didn't just help our teen, they helped us as a family too. FBT gave us all the responsibility as parents, residential programs (which we didn't try) took ownership for a period of time but then they would give all the responsibility back to us and we didn't have a clue of what to do. HTP does it differently. Half of the treatment is at HTP and half of it at home and the parents become part of the team. I appreciated that the staff of HTP educated us and told us what to do -as a family, and how to prepare for and manage all the tough challenges. As opposed to FBT, where as parents we had to be the good guys as well as the bad guys, HTP took on the tough role for most of the day, and then afterwards home became a place for kindness, understanding, love and support. We continued enforcing the structure and rules specified by the program, but we weren't the bad guys anymore and the fights stopped. As things improved both physically and mentally, things got easier and easier as we slowly transitioned to having more time at home until final graduation. I could only guess that the negative reviewers had different expectations or an extremely serious situation. HTP provides great treatment, structure and guidance and we had an important job to do as parents as well. We were no longer alone and that was already half the path to wellness. HTP has helped a lot of families (many more than the reviews we can assure you), and we have personal proof that HTP works. Everyone we met at HTP is extremely committed and they truly believe in the purpose of the program. We would not hesitate to recommend them.
This institution can potentially make an eating disorder worse, as well as increase depression and anxiety symptoms. Make sure you ask very specific questions about their practices before you trust your child into the hands of HTP. We were too quick to commit our daughter here because it all sounded so amazing in their initial sales pitch, but we ended up spending months undoing the damage this place caused to her health and psyche. HTP missed a serious and life threatening diagnosis that a competent therapy group diagnosed one week later. We're grateful we withdrew her out of HTP pretty quickly - the only good decision we made in this overall experience. I would never recommend this institution to anybody.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
