List of Alon Avidan's Reviews
Dr. Avidan, Director of UCLA Sleep saw me ad the advice of my primary physician. We were told that he is the most knowledgeable sleep physician in Southern California. We were amazed by his gracious nature and his warmth. He saw us with his sleep fellow and were learned so much about this condition. He called me after my sleep study and spend an additional 30 minutes reviewing the treatment. An amazing physician!!!!
Dr. Avidan's office told me that in order to see him, I would need to schedule an appointment with sleep pulmonary specialist first. I made a generic Zoom appointment, with pulmonary with no treatment plan, and the pulmonary doctor went out on personal leave. So after waiting 1 year to see him, the day before my appointment, they canceled my appointment- they said that SINCE I had seen "several sleep specialists," (a bold faced lie), I was not eligible for an appointment! I followed instructions to see another doctor first, but then was penalized and canceled for seeing the other doctor, and was told to go ahead and continue my "treatment plan, and continue under the other doctor's care," even though I was not under anyone else's care. I am furious that he controls every aspect of Ucla sleep neurology, as he won't even allow me to see his fellows! Total centralized power and abuse of authority!
I wanted to see Dr. Avidan as per recommendations from my internists and waited for a few weeks until they had a chance to review my records. After seeing four previous sleep physicians over the last few years, none could figure out my condition, or explain it in a way that makes sense to me. I spent about an hour with Dr. Avidan and his fellow and found that the visit was incredibly informative. Despite seeing them via zoom, I still had all my questions answered and was given a detailed account on what to expect. They referred me to the Sleep lab for a more complete evaluation and I received the results within a few days. Dr. Avidan actually called me on the weekend to discuss the plan and I was moved by the level of professionalism and dedication that they expressed. I have to acknowledge that the wait time was long end it took some time to communicate back to me but it was well worth it. I will always remember there patience and expertise. They answered all my questions and never did I have a sense they were rushing me through the visit or interrupted me. It's rare to find physicians who take such time and dedication and I was so happy that the fellow was with him to learn about bedside manners. Funny Cool
Since we didn’t catch Dr. Avidan’s name during our teleconference with him in October 2021, my husband and I have referred to him as Dr. Rude which best describes his attitude and behavior. When one becomes part of a study program at UCLA, one would hope that every medical person that has contact with a patient would conduct themselves in a courteous, professional manner. Unfortunately, that was not the case with Dr. Avidan. Since he refused to make any effort to solve a problem we were having getting a replacement CPAP machine for the one that was recalled, the one that was ordered by a UCLA doctor, the same doctor that ordered the sleep study to begin with, we have been forced to find help outside of UCLA where doctors actually treat patients rather than collect data. Unfortunately, time spent being tested multiple times both in person and via teleconferences was time wasted…over a year without any constructive help. My husband is 82 years old….he can’t have that time back.
He is a great doctor. My husband Nasser Abolssedgh is his patient. We never want to not seeing him. Hope to seeing him soon. Sincerely yours Nehzat Bohlouli Nasser's wife
Dr. Avid an is very friendly and is attentive to my concerns. He collaborates with fellows during our visits, so two doctors at once which is pretty cool! He is very knowledgeable about sleep disorders and does his research. Very good bedside manner. I would recommend him to anyone hands down.
After visiting 2 other neurologists, I was hoping this doctor would be able to provide some insight to the conditions I was having. He ordered the same test a previous doctor already took because he didn't trust the testing facility of another doctor. Not only was the results of the test the same, but it also cost me over $300 out of pocket I was not prepared for as well as a lot of headache just to get the test done. In the end I learned nothing from all the effort and when I told him I was hoping for more investigation, he basically told me to get more sleep (which I can't because I have pain at night). Then I had to pay $40 more dollars just for his response which I did not ask for.
I am a physician in the neurosciences with a neurological sleep condition who has tried to see this physician. The process is unprofessional and unresponsive. I will not be seeing this physician and certainly will NEVER refer any patients to him or his group.
I needed to see a neuro sleep doc. He was only one, clearly didn't want to take my case. He didn't even look at my medical history before offering a(n inaccurate) diagnosis. I would have been better off seeing a non-neuro doc than to have wasted my time w him.
I waited weeks just to have him look at my referral. Office staff couldn't communicate accurate info. He diagnosed me w at least 3 diff things before/during visit. He never looked at my history. He didn't fully answer any of my questions. He clearly didn't think my case was worth taking, pawned it off onto his resident. If he wasn't going to put the effort into actually helping me, DON'T TAKE THE ...

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
