Arash Akhavein's Online Review Report Card

This review is strictly for Jeannie Su who works at this same comprehensive urology group. I initially wanted to make an appointment with Dr. Arash but Dr. Su was the only one with the earliest open availability. So I went ahead and made an appointment to see Dr.Su which looking back now it makes sense. She's probably one of the newer doctors there and hasn't built up the clientele quite yet. I'm pretty sure I know why no one is lining up to see her.Dr. Su did not bother to look over my chart before coming in to the room. She came in very rushed and not well put together. She quickly rushed through my concerns and downplayed my symptoms and the way that I was feeling. She also talked over me which didn't help the situation at all. She performed a quick exam and said she saw nothing wrong with my situation. She said based off the limited lab testing they did prior to her coming into the room I had no issues. Dr. Su didn't really offer any explanations or advice on how to help me with my situation. She just offered to send me home with antibiotics to try out and also a medication to help with urinary discomfort. However, she forgot to prescribe a particular medication in the process. Due to cancer in my medical history Dr. Su asked me why I wasn't seeing the urology oncologist for any of my urinary issues. I let her know that they only see me for cancer related problems and that I was there for UTI like symptoms. I am also currently cancer free so I have no reason to see my oncologist for this particular issue. She seemed frustrated and said well they SHOULD see you there for those type of concerns. She then stated it was fine that she could still see me? I don't understand the need to make me feel like I wasn't welcomed or that I was wasting her time. Speaking about time, my appointment was totally rushed. My appointment could have not taken longer than 5 minutes. After she prescribed me with medication she quickly walked me outside to the front desk. She threw some medication samples and coupon my way and said her goodbyes. I knew from that moment it would be our final goodbye because I will never ever be coming back to this place. I apologize to Dr. Arash for leaving this review here but this is a warning to others to avoid Dr. Su she is cold and has horrible bed side manners. As I sit here and write this I'm still experiencing the same symptoms and I can obviously tell there's something wrong. Please people don't let these doctors get away with the way they half-ass practice medicine. Please call them out on their bull sh*t and praise the good doctors who still care about their patients and value their career.

I very highly recommend Dr. Arash Akhavein. He is a deeply responsible, kind, and diligent physician. At a minimum he saved me from serious damage and quite possibly he saved my life.I self-referred myself to him about three months ago after experiencing somewhat mild though persistent symptoms. At this point I had seen two other physicians and had not received proper guidance. Dr. Akhavein took my concerns seriously and ordered a MRI. He called me as soon as the results became available to inform me that the scans had revealed a tumor in my abdomen. Dr. Akhavein had a patient and detailed discussion with me about my situation, and provided me with advice on next steps. The tumor, which was malignant, has since been surgically removed and I have learned that my prognosis is good.My life would have taken a different trajectory had it not been for Dr. Arash Akhavein's high capability, ability to truly listen, and diligence. My family and I are deeply grateful to him for saving my life. Thank you doctor Dr. Akhavein!

Very knowledgeable and a fantastic personality. Arash answers any questions with passion & explains everything so the layman understands.What a great combination!

Dr. Akhavein is an unusual doctor -- in all the best ways.  I was referred to him after going to Cedars-Sinai for a large and painful kidney stone. Upon meeting Dr. Akhavein I found him to be jovial, relaxed, relatable, and an entertaining conversationalist.  He showed a real interest in helping me and went to great lengths to explain the procedure I needed and answer all my questions. In the hospital for the procedure, the staff and nurses all seemed to think highly of him. Again he took time to explain everything that would happen and exactly what I could expect afterward so that I was not surprised or anxious. I cannot rate him highly enough. In each of my interactions with him I sensed real excitement for his profession, a contagious enthusiasm, complete competence, and enthusiasm for helping people feel well.

Dr. Akhavein is the nicest doctor I have ever met. Normally, doctors are not very friendly and approachable. But Dr. Akhavein is super nice. He treated my kidney stone and is very patient. He would call back to answer patient's question even it was after office hour. I highly recommend him as your urology specialist. If he treats you, you are in good hands.

I’ve been going to there office for the past 3 years now and not once have I ever had a bad experience, It’s safe, everyone is exceptional at what they do, extremely thorough and extremely attentive to accuracy and detailI recommend everyone that needs there service to go there and have your situation taken care in a very professional way

I really can't say enough about what a blessing Dr. Akhavein has been in my life. He took the time to listen to my concerns, to address my anxiety, and to explain his plan for how he would be taking care of me and assessing my condition. When results came in, he did not allow me to leave his office until all of my questions were answered. Every procedure was done with great care, and I also have to mention how professional and kind his entire staff is. They always made me feel comfortable. I am so grateful that my family doctor sent me to Dr. Akhavein.

Dr. Akhavein has very communicative and patient and enthusiastic and positive and .... I had a great experience with him and his office staff. They are all very professional but very friendly. I didn't know Dr. Akhavein before my surgery but he saw me every day in the hospital and communicated everything in a way that I could understand and not be freaked out. He was a great surgeon but more important made me feel good every time I saw him and spoke with him. I never write these reviews but when you have a great experience, you want to shout it to the world. Thank you Dr. Akhavein and staff for everything.

Dr. Akhavein is very warm, kind and upbeat. You never feel like you’re rushed (like many docs now a days) and he makes sure to answer all questions in detail!! He actually doesn’t mind questions which is refreshing! He is very knowledgeable and patient and is very responsive to phone messages too!! All around a great doctor and person!

I love my appointments with him. He throughly examines and keeps track of exactly what is going on. His staff always brings joy to my face. He is amazing.
