List of Ausaf A Bari's Reviews
Dr. Bari changed my life, to say the least.

I have suffered severely intractable epilepsy secondhand to autoimmune encephalitis for nearly 7 years. I have suffered three types of seizures: tonic clonic, complex partial, and focal aware onset.

My epilepsy has not responded to about a dozen AEDs (anti-epileptic drugs), and was not responsive to immunotherapy either. After discovering that I had autoimmune encephalitis, 3 forms of immunotherapy were tried on me: IVIG therapy, Plasmapheresis, and Rituximab infusions. These treatments, as well as my medications, did NOT work to control my seizure activity.

Most recently, before surgery, I had an average of 9-10 complex partial/focal aware seizures daily. I struggled doing normal daily activities, felt extremely exhausted, depressed, and hopeless.

Towards the end of 2022, my lead neurologist had let me know that we had exhausted all of our options and that I was going to be referred to neurosurgery for a consult. My epilepsy was severely drug refractory.

After meeting with Dr. Bari in November '22, my first neurosurgery was scheduled--which was the implantation of 12 intracranial depth electrodes to monitor my seizure activity and determine whether it was localized or not. If the results determined that it was localized, the goal was to resect the part(s) of my brain that were causing my seizures.

After my case was discussed and presented at a surgical conference, I received a call that my seizures were localized and that the next step was to move forward with resection.

Another consult with Dr. Bari was scheduled for my next surgery, which was an anterior right Temporal Lobectomy, as well as a Amygdalohippocampectomy. Dr. Bari was extremely knowledgeable, thoughtful, and confident in the success of this surgery--which eased many of my anxieties. He answered all of my questions thoroughly, provided me with an immense amount of detail about the operation, and comforted my family and me.

The thought of neurosurgery was extremely intimidating to my family and me, however I was very hopeful and confident in Dr. Bari's ability to surgically remove the areas that needed to be removed, without resulting in any neurological deficits or complications.

I am still recovering from surgery, but I am thrilled to share that for the first time, since 2016, my post-op EEG results did NOT DETECT ANY SEIZURES!

Dr. Bari and his team are wonderful, thoughtful, comforting, and considerate. My biggest fear became the most life-changing experience in my life. I am eternally grateful.
Dr. Bari is an exceptional neurosurgeon in every area, from the level of his expertise to the quality of care he delivers to his patients. A true asset to UCLA and all the patients he treats. My mother underwent a major procedure at UCLA and Dr. Bari and his team made the whole daunting process appear so effortless and manageable, shrinking my fears and anxieties away with comprehensive, step-by-step explanations of the process and ongoing support. Outstanding patient care and bedside manner. Couldn’t ask for more from a doctor, team and hospital and I feel so fortunate my mother received such excellent world class care.

He is very nice, kind, knowledgeable, caring doctor.
Dr Bari and his wonderful team treated my right hand essential tremors with MRgFUS on August 22nd. The results were immediate and life changing. I can not say enough positive things about the entire team at UCLA. I live in Arizona and I am so happy that I chose to have the procedure at UCLA. I was able to eat soup at the airport before flying home, something I haven't done in years!! Dr. Bari was kind, caring and respectful. I never even had to ask for another warm blanket. He knows that I can't wait until the FDA has approved treatment for the non-dominate hand. I know that everyone's experience is different, but if you are considering MRgFUS, I highly recommend contacting Dr. Ausuf Bari at UCLA. Good luck.
Dr. Bari is a gem. His knowledge and compassionate bedside manner truly helped ease my moms anxiety with neurosurgery. I cannot recommend him enough. She has undergone 2 neurosurgeries with him for facial pain and I only have stellar comments about his care. Truly one in a million.
I have never had any surgery in my life, but when I got in a motorcycle accident and it left me with severe nerve damage, I was referred to my doctor. There was absolutely no wait time, the staff was super friendly and very knowledgeable.everything was available for me to review through MyChart app and made everything so easy. My Dr. Ausaf Bari was super informative and made me feel very comfortable and confident that my first surgery is going to be in good hands.
I suffered from a benign essential/familial tremor for years. Over time, it became so intense that writing legibly was impossible, eating with a fork or spoon was difficult and holding a cup or glass without spilling was a challenge. My experience with Dr. Bari and his associates was truly life-changing. He performed an MRI guided, focused ultrasound procedure on my brain. It was non-invasive. There was no pain. There were no side-effects. And there was no recuperation period. In my case, the results were immediate. When the procedure was over and I stepped away from the MRI machine, my tremor was gone. Completely gone! Truly remarkable. All the while, before and after, Dr. Bari, Dr. Menezes and the support staff were attentive, thorough and professional - a world class operation. My older brother and my mom both suffered from tremor. I regret that they never had the chance to undergo this procedure with Dr. Bari. It would have changed and improved their lives, too.
The zoom visit was nice, Dr. Bari answered my questions in a professional manner and he explained it in a way that I understand.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
