List of California Center For Conscious Acupuncture's Reviews
Yang-chu is the best acupuncturist I've ever been to. What he did for me after my doctors' failure to help me but offer medication, was incredible. For days, I could barely get out of bed or sit or walk from an intense sciatica nerve pain I got after lifting. After three sessions in a week's time, I could do all those things more comfortably and now a week later I'm back to normal. When I lived in NYC, for sports injuries, I went Chinatown to older, very experienced acupuncturists, they were good, but none were as thorough as Yang-chu was with me. I highly recommend him, I promise you will see results.
After months of suffering from chronic pain in my back and ribs and trying to navigate the healthcare system, I decided to try eastern medicine for the first time. I was referred to Yang Chu by a friend of my wife. He took time to listen and gave me a thorough examination as well which included a software based objective analysis of body and my Chi. After my first treatment, I felt relief I'd been seeking for months, within an hour of leaving. Within a month he reduced my pain by 50%-75%. He is a very thoughtful, funny and highly skilled practicioner and I recommend him highly. I have found both a solution and a friend in Yang Chu and you can as well.
Don't waste your time. Here was my experience with this guy, and I'm only sharing this review because of the absolute hassle this guy gave me over the phone before a follow-up appointment, and when he told me to come see him for a second session, and then promptly decided that he was refunding my money and couldn't work with me. I've had a fair amount of acupuncture, one of my good friends is an acupuncturist, but I saw his good reviews and that Yelp was offering a coupon for $75 worth of value at the small business for $50. I called ahead and asked his rates. He said it was $45 for the first 15 minutes, and $35 for the additional 15 minutes, so I bought the $75 coupon. He also told me that each session is determined by the amount of work that needs to be done based on diagnosis. All in though, $80 for about half an hour, or about $2.66 a minute, so I should be receiving about a half an hour of treatment, right-? Well, he sized me up rather quickly, did a bit of basic acupuncture on my leg and some work on my ear to treat an issue in my shoulder, taped some ear seeds inside my ear to "continue treatment" for a few days, and then told me to check in with him on Friday to see what else was needed, whether an additional round of treatment or some cupping. Cool. On intuition, I timed our session from the moment I walked in the door. 19 minutes. When I called him on Friday to find out if I could use the remainder of my session, which is still about $35 in value, he was insistent that his treatments are not based on time value despite the fact that he has a set dollar rate per minute. He said that as far as he was concerned, because I showed improvement before I left, another treatment was not needed and his work was done. Mind you, I've shown improvement, but I'm still in pain. I told him, I was expecting at least a half hour worth of therapy, and would like to use the remaining amount on my coupon or dollar value. He invited me to come over ASAP for a remaining short session, so I dropped everything I was doing and went to his home office. Once there, he told me not to take my shoes off and again tried to reiterate a different story on how he determines value, which frankly, means that he should not be offering any Yelp discounts. He then very brusquely told me that I was FOUR MINUTES LATE (on our first meeting, he called me to the minute at the start of our session time, and I was parking in the parking space below his walk up. 30 seconds late, including the walk up his steps, and since when does a session start before the client gets there if he happens to be running a minute or two late anyway?) He then brought up his "treatment", noting that he put ear seeds in my ear, "which he didn't have to do". Very noble, but he didn't tell me the time that he was doing it that there was an additional charge, or that it was an above and beyond sort of service- he was just using it retroactively to build a case for himself. I had to break down on a calculator how much time or value I believed I was still owed. I haven't straight up being harassed at this point by an acupuncturist who portends to be doing healing work. He owed me another 12 to 15 minutes based on his own rate, or about $40. He gave me $40 cash, told me he can't work with me, and showed me the door. I moved another appointment to go to his place of business ASAP because he had agreed to treat me but only if I drove right over. Moral of the story, while my injury is slightly improved, this guy's demeanor puts him in the wrong business. There are a lot of Eastern healers in this town with exemplary training and people service skills. Anyone who nickels and dimes or changes their story after the fact is not someone worth your time, money, or energy. Save it for someone who isn't giving you the bait and switch. And if you still agree to go to this guy, don't buy the coupon. He won't value it for its actual worth. Thanks for the ear seeds, bro. Above and beyond.
Yang-chu at CCC is the best acupuncturist I've ever been to. What he did for me after my doctors' failure to help me but offer medication, was incredible. I consider myself so lucky that I came across Yang-chu. I have suffered for the past 5 years with chronic digestive issues, food sensitivities. I tried many treatments, diets but nothing helped. I would break out in rashes, cystic acne, I had PROBLEMS. I had lost a ton of weight because I couldnt tolerate most foods. Within 3-4 sessions, i noticed a difference. I couldnt eat, fruits, nuts, shellfish. I'm happy to say that I am now able to all 3 of them. That in and of itself makes the time and money I spent on my treatment with Yang-chu worth it. I am grateful because he gave me results! This man KNOWS what he is doing. I highly recommend him!
Unbelievable. A true healer- honestly changed my entire health journey- couldn’t recommend more! After years of trying different things, Yang-Chu changed my life and my health. Go see him. Amazing.
Hands down the most effective and conscious healing experience I’ve ever had. I’ve been to many doctors and practitioners seeking help for several long term health problems, including chronic pain, and none have been able to understand and truly address the underlying issues like Dr. Higgins. If you’re serious about getting well, make an appointment. Maybe several.
I was crazy because my jaw was hurting and locking up.. I went to a chiropractor and massage therapist to help the problem , they couldn’t help me.. My jaw got much better after I saw Yang-Chu.. he found the problem and fixed it..!!!
I'm so grateful that I found California Center for Consious Acupuncture and Mr. Higgins. Having gone off hormonal birth control, I was hoping to realign my body's energy and get back to feeling more like "Me". Within 1 session an inflammed ovary had gone down in size. Within 2 sessions I had a menstrual period that I would call AMAZING and much less painful than normal (read: pre-hormonal birth control) periods which have sent me to the ER many times before. Within 3 sessions, my constant upper respiratory phlem was breaking up, and on the 4th session my stubbornly cold feet were no longer kicking my partner out of bed at night. I hold so much gratitude for this method of healing and alignment.
Dr. Higgins is a superbly intelligent human being who combines the modern tools and works with ancient methods . Yang chu has helped me in so many varied ways with my ails that I cannot possibly enumerate them. He is thoughtful and listens . Suffice to say that if you can use his services you will be a very lucky individual . He is a treasure . I would highly recommend him. Sincerely Mrs. Liz Lopez

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
