List of Cheryl J Powell's Reviews
unprofessional dr and rude to patients
The scheduling department is the worst I’ve ever had the pleasure of speaking with. Apparently I never have the right referral, from my doctor? And they won’t just tell me what code I need. It’s very confusing. I’ve tried several times. But an appointment also wouldn’t be available until September. And was told that like I should try somewhere else. Thanks for all the help.
I'd give less if I could. The staff is less than no help. And instead of working with a new patient, especially a referral they just act like there isn't anything they can do. I have had to get several new referrals to get whatever the right codes are and the ladies who answer the phone keep saying it's not right. But won't tell me the specific code I need to be seen? So now months are going by and the staff has the worst attitude. No appointments till 6 months out to place is a joke. I've spoken with several different people answering the phone and all should be working at Burger King rather than answering phones in a professional doctors office.
First and Foremost this is a very unprofessional, rude, ophthalmologist. It’s been a year and yet my dad hasn’t not been seen. Very sad to see that in your own community staff such as this workplace are not the ones helping out. Instead retaliate against what you say and it shouldn’t be like this elderly people are also humans too. Do they not have parents themselves? My father’s appointments has been postponed so many times and now that he had an appointment couldn’t been seen because his insurance didn’t place the right referral to the surgical hospital and how is my father supposed to know this; after a whole year they just tell us this, are you serious? Where is there work ethics at? This is very concerning and I will make sure to bring this up to the California Board of Optometry and Medical Board and look into a lawyer this can’t continue going on! I see the continuous negligence that this staff provide to people this is very unacceptable and disturbing that people continue to go to this clinic.
I read the reviews what does the staff have to with doctor's character I found Dr C Powell very professional
She's a wonderful doctor to me it's easy to talk to her with my problem and she listens thank you for being my doctor
Just went here to check on my eyes. One thing people need to know is that this is not an optometrist (you will not get glasses here). The front desk girls are super nice and friendly, Dr.Powell was very nice and opened with my proceedure. Im confused as to why so many negative reviews but I would honestly book ahead of time if you dont wish to wait. My experience was excellent and Im already booked for two more appointments here. I will be seeing an optometrist on the side, this is more for the care of glaucoma, eye defects etc.
What Dr. Powell and her team were able to do was an absolute miracle. My family and I couldn't be more grateful or have anything but positive things to say about her practice. She and her team have been instrumental in helping my mom get her vision back. Prior to meeting with Dr. Powell, my mother met with another ophthalmologist who said that my mom's situation is an impossible case, leaving us feeling hopeless and devastated. Our experience with Dr. Powell couldn't be more different. She spoke with such conviction and optimism that my mother would be seeing in no time. She was so very talented and reassuring. Admittedly, the process to get the surgery was challenging, but it's 100% a reflection of the medical system, and not Dr. Powell and her team. To anyone who is dealing with the process, my piece of advice is the 2 P's: Persistence & Patience. Of course, either said than done but when it comes to Medi-Cal and getting prior authorizations and approvals, it's just the unfortunate reality of our current healthcare system. But it's 1000% WORTH IT!! I will never forget the day when the lights in my mom's world came back on. Dr. Powell has profoundly changed both my family, but most of all, my mom's life through her gift. My family and I are so happy and glad that we put our trust in her and her team's hands.
My grandma has been coming here for years and loves Dr Powell!! She's always so professional and straight forward. My grandma refuses to see anyone else. Yes, there's a wait time but there are wait times everywhere especially right now when everyone is understaffed. The parking does suck but that's out of their hands since its a medical building. I appreciate her staff for always being so welcoming especially in a time like this.
Horrific experience. Dr Powell has the absolute worst bedside manner. She is a disgrace to the medical field. I simply walked out, with no words spoken on my part, after she spoke to me in the most inhumane way. I will opt to pay out of pocket for an eye doctor, until I do I hope I don't go blind with my budding glaucoma.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
