List of Gabriel J. Halperin's Reviews
Updating my review due to extreme disappointment!I had my ingrown removed and a few weeks after went to get the root of my nail burnt. Tell me why months later my nail has fungus, is black, and nail looks deformed? I am beyond upset because my nail was healthy (as you can see on the pictures I previously posted) and after getting the root burnt I have this problem. I now have to take oral medicine to cure what Dr. Wong caused!!!My review is to alert you of my HORRIBLE experience!!I regret coming here for this procedure!!
Dr. Halperin used to always take care of me and listened to all my concerns. Although the wait time was usually a couple hours, it was well worth it. He never made me feel just like a patient like some other doctors do.
I don't see how this place has more more than one star. They deserve 5 NEGATIVE stars for their service and dirty office. When you make an appointment plan on waiting an hour and a half beyond your scheduled time and another 45 in the room... that is if you're lucky to get a room and your not ushered to the back corral where you might,/might not get a spot with an exam chair instead of a folding chair out in the open where everyone sees and hears your business. Even if you get an exam chair everyone can still hear your business because it's open with just folding curtains to separate each patient. Dont believe me, come into the building from the back door as if you have an appoint and you can tour the corral that's just to the left of the entrance. I was SHOCKED and disgusted to see the doctor put the nail clippers in her pocket after working on my mom.
While I like Dr. Wong, her office refused to call my insurance to get an authorization for my follow up visit no matter how many times I called Dr. Wong's and asked them for it. My insurance told me repeatedly that I needed one. Dr. Wong's office said they would have a supervisor call me but she never did. And they still wouldn't pick up the phone to make the simple call the insurance needed. Wong's office kept claiming I didn't need a new authorization but my insurance said otherwise. I needed to go to the follow up because my foot had broken 3 months ago and the doctor (and me!) wanted to see if my foot set right. But because they wouldn't call my insurance to get the authorization, I had to cancel. This is bad, dangerous care. I hope Dr. Wong sees this so she knows. I thought about writing a letter to her but don't trust the staff at the office in getting it to her properly. Bad practices with the staff here. I don't recommend this office. It affects your health.

After being treated here by Dr. Wong and being satisfied by her treatment, I must admit that recently, the front desk area needs to be revamped with regards on how they treat their patients/customers. As of Monday, 8.24.2020, my visit with Dr. Wong was going great open till I went back to the front area to pay. There was a slight discrepancy which I asked a few questions about. The person I spoke to, named Karen, kept insisting something that I had previously not been explained about and offered to get more information for me, which I gladly excepted. However at this point, when she couldn't find the information or people to help me, she began to guilt me about the line forming behind me. To remedy her situation, she printed out my insurance details and told me that I needed to contact my insurance. Which I then did the same day and then again today, and the information provided to me seemed to make a lot more sense than how Karen had been trying to explain it. My insurance also called a person at the practice and the person seemed to corroborate the information being explained to me. When I called the practice back to confirm a couple more details and to maybe get some final answers on some of the questions I had, I spoke to two other individuals, one named Erica and one whose name wasn't provided to me but both these individuals were incredibly helpful and patient with me. The third person that picked up the phone while I was on the call was once again, Karen. Almost immediately, she began to speak over me simply repeating that she had already giving me my information via a printout and that I needed to speak to my insurance to which I notified her that I had already and that my insurance spoke to somebody at her practice, but because I was on hold I wasn't aware of who they spoke to but all the information that was relayed about the practice was correct with regards to my insurance, Karen offered to let me speak to her supervisor which I of course excepted but was then told that the supervisor wasn't there anymore. She kept insisting that the information she gave me on Monday was the correct information but again, my insurance and the person my insurance spoke to said otherwise. Her voice began getting a bit more louder and condescending and I informed her that all I needed to do was simply ask my questions so that she could understand my position, since she wasn't acknowledging or addressing them anymore. I informed her I didn't need my policy explain to me contrary to what she insisted on doing. She kept speaking over me, repeating herself as if that was going to help the situation and at one point began saying that I was getting upset which was not true at all. I tried my best at this point to explain that I wasn't upset, I had been a customer there for just about four years and that I liked it there and that all I had were some questions and if I could speak to her supervisor like she had offered but as she kept speaking over me, she hung up on me.I have to admit, I find this type of treatment incredibly horrible especially for a practice that has such great caretakers in the back with the doctors and all the technicians assisting the doctors. I am a blind, disabled individual and frankly cannot think of any other time this has happened to me before. All I had were questions about what I perceived as a discrepancy and because of the treatment I received from Karen, and even though I enjoy the care that Dr. Wong provides, I cannot recommend anybody come to this location since this is the type of treatment I received just because I asked a few simple questions. During my phone call with Karen today, she also mentioned to me that if I wasn't satisfied with my insurance that I should go look for somebody else. I reminded her at this point again that I am blind and disabled and that there is a current pandemic to which she replied " well, that's all I can say to you" I was amazed that this was the type of language being used just for raising concerns I had. I reminded her at this point again that I am blind and disabled and that we are currently in a pandemic and was just trying to find information to my questions that she didn't have answers to.I understand that the practice, as a whole, is undergoing changes as doctor Halperin has retired from the practice but I would hope that some of these changes include better training of any personality types like Karen, where they actually try to help a customer with any and all concerns and not just scold, speak over them and then ultimately hang up on them for having questions.
After enduring close to 4 days of pain & suffering due to an infected ingrown toenail I decided to listen to my husband, scheduled an appointment, and took the drive to his Podiatric. My appointment was scheduled at 2:15pm, I arrived 10 minutes early given meter street parking unless you're lucky and find parking on a residential street (thank God, I was lucky)!Upon entering the building, i was greeted by Lupe (the receptionist). I signed myself in and she took my temperature. She asked if it was my 1st time, I replied, "yes." She proceeded to give me paperwork to complete and took my driver's license & insurance card. I completed the paperwork and handed to Lupe. The wait began. I signed in at 2:05pm and was assigned a room roughly around 2:50pm. You will become inpatient; however, it's a busy office and luckily there was 2 doctors seeing patients. Let the fun begin (sigh)!I was waiting patiently in the room when a young man named Alex walks in. He was in charge of asking all the questions to ensure I received the services desired. The BIG moment...Dr. Wong walks in. She is so sweet and her voice is soothing. She takes a look at my toe and says, "we're going to take care of you. I'll remove the ingrown of both corners given your toe is fully numbed." I was all for it. She proceeded to explain what she was doing (spraying my toe with cold air as she injected around my toe for numbing purposes) and was comforting during the process. She said, "let's give it five minutes to ensure it's numb" and walked out.Alex walked back inside the room, gave me after care instructions, and plaeces a curtain to cover me from seeing the procedure and set everything up for the doctor. Dr. Wong walks back in and said, "i'm pitching your toe. Do you feel that?" I replied, "not at all." She removed both in grown nails and advised to allow 3-4 days before I start running (since I asked how soon can I start running again). Once she was done she informed me Alex would bandage me up & give me prescriptions for antibiotics, pain medicine, and antibiotic cream. Alex walks back inside the room, bandaged me up, gave me the two prescriptions, and sheet indicating the out of pocket cost of $160.Karen assisted me with scheduling my next appointment & processed my payment. She was very professional and friendly. Alex was professional, friendly, sensitive to my emotions, good sense of humor, and above all gentle with bandaging my toe (after all was said and done)! My overall experience was beyond excellent! I highly recommend this Podiatric Office to anyone in need. Customer service, professionalism, and friendliness are top notch!Thank you Dr. Wong, Alex, Karen, Lupe, and the young lady who calls your name & puts you in a room (I didn't get her name, sorry) for the 5 star experience!!!
I had a fantastic experience with him. He really helped to give me a solid diagnosis of CRPS in my right foot after a bad car accident. He was one of the first doctors who believed and validated I had this uncommon condition. He had a great sense of humor. I was really sad when he retired last month. I do like his replacement, but he had big shoes to fill. I believe Dr. Yi will be a solid replacement. I already have a good amount of trust in him. ????
I have many Workmen’s Comp Doctors and personal Doctors, but Dr. Halperin is my favorite Doctor by far! Doctor Halperin is very thorough and listens to his patients. He is very passionate in his field of medicine you. He gives me hope!Thank you Dr. Halperin ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
