J. Augusto Bastidas's Online Review Report Card

It is reassuring to hear from the hospital staff that Dr. Bastidas is the best. Not only is he very knowledgeable and a great surgeon, he's also candid, funny, and very supportive. He takes the time to listen and thoroughly address any questions and concerns.

Nobody WANTS to need a surgeon, but he is absolutely the person we needed right now. He is the one in our area that does the surgery my husband needed and he has made sure every step of the way to take care of him beyond anything we could have expected. He took the time to get to know my husband before talking shop and responded quickly and graciously when things started getting real and I had more questions. In the hospital, I texted him because of some concerns, he didn’t respond, he showed up. Medical schools need to have him as guest lecturers until he can no longer speak to teach all the students how to be a good man and surgeon. The nurses don’t love him, but we believe its because he will take nothing less than exceptional treatment for his patients. His billing practices are impeccable, straight forward and cuts through the insurance garbage. I don’t know him very well, but honestly he’s one of my favorite people ever.

If I could rate this a 0 star that is what it would be. I called dr office for a follow up as a referral from a fellow surgeon and I got a response from a very rude Pat Bastidas. I think it is very unprofessional and rude to assume based of protocol what the assumption of every patient is and that is horrible service if this is how it works with this office. I hope I actually get a call from the surgeon whom I am suppose to speak to and not a very rude and unprofessional person again.

I only saw Dr Bastidas for a bit at El Camino, but the impression he left was very positive. My dad underwent some very suspicious GI surgeries in China and has been having complications ever since, and his insurance sucks. Dr. Bastidas actually picks up his phone, and took the time to patiently explain everything he suspected was going on, and next steps. Very transparent and gives honest advice.

This Dr is the best surgeon I have experienced and as an extremely athletic individual I have experienced surgeries over my life time. He is very personable with his patients, taking the time to explain exactly what your options are and moving quickly once a decision is made. He is efficient and yet cares enough to take the time to insure easy QUICK healing, allowing patients to immediately get back to their lives and athletic activities . He is one of the few Dr's who checked in on me as a patient just hours after the surgery. And since I had no pain after the surgery (a testament to his skill and care) he allowed me to go home, sleep in my own bed and get back to my life. These days .. 2020..being at any hospital is scarey. I am so happy that I was lucky enough to have had him as my surgeon!!. In my work in neumuscular therapy, I have my own patients and would highly recommend him to all

This guy will never touch me again. He was brutal to me as the on call surgeon at Good Sam. He prodded my wound area with scissors and a q tip with no pain meds. I cried for hours after he assaulted me. His bedside manner was horrible. No explanation of what he was doing, just aggressively went at my incision causing me so much pain and discomfort. What a complete jerk!

Had an emergency cholecystectomy with Dr. Bastidas at O'Connor. Excellent bedside manner, very professional and good sense of humor. Operation went without a hitch. The man is amazing because he seemed to be at O'Connor all day and the surgery was at 9pm and he met me at 5:30 am the next day to follow up. Haven't done the in-office follow-up but he was certainly no different in the follow-up (like some docs). Would definitely recommend.

Dr Bastidas is one of the finest doctors and gem of a person you would probably ever meet in your lifetime. I credit him for performing a successful operation to remove tumor from my duodenum. He is extremely courteous, answers all your questions, does his homework thoroughly before seeing you and is extremely well networked and respected in the community. I would recommend him without hesitation you are in the hands of one of the best surgeon's in the world.
