List of Julia Kahan's Reviews
Dr Norman Kahan has always been very caring and helpful. He might run behind sometimes but it is usually because he takes his time to make sure all his patients' needs are met
Dr Kahan did bi-lateral chevron and aiken osteotomies, left foot 3/22/18, right foot 6/28/18. Right foot is usable, but right foot is a whole different story. I'll spare the gory details. In a nutshell, I now walk on the 4 small toes of my right foot. The compression staple on the aiken osteotomy failed and my big toe is still bent as it was originally- only now it's much closer to the other toes. I saw 2 podiatrist after I knew something was wrong, but they told me nothing. 1/30/2020 last resort I had Dr Kahan order custom orthotics. During fitting tech had my stand with she behind me and said I was walking on the 4 small toes. I live in foot-pain HELL! Worse pain than my bunion ever caused. If you can shop around for your doctor. And do anything and everything to avoid surgeries of any type. Update 11/10/2020 return to Dr Kahan to give her opportunity to correct her error but she refused to take me as a patient bc I filed medical complaint on her. Doctors are people too so obviously my expectation of acting like adults was too high.
What kind of professional doctor are you? Dr. Julia Kahan gave my mother the worst attitude and treatment after making her drive all the way to Los Gatos and spend less than 5 minutes discussing her surgery. There was no professionalism nor basic decency, shame on you Dr. Julia kahan. It's one thing to deny a surgery understandably, but to tell her 'you're done' and storm out of the room is the most childish act I've ever heard. We will not be coming back and I hope others take this experience with them.
I love Dr. Kahan! I had both surgery on my shoulder and knee by her and she did an amazing job!! I definitely recommend her:)
Dr. Julia Kahan is an amazing doctor/surgeon. I have had 2 surgeries done by her (torn acl and torn labrum/shoulder fracture) and i definitely trust her. she truly cares about her patients and i am truly blessed to have her as my orthopedic surgeon. i definitely recommended her:)
Dr Kahan did a stellar job repairing a meniscus tear! It's been a year and all her projections on a timely full recovery are right on!! Great supportive MD!!!
I have been to dr Julia Kahan for 2 knee surgeries and hand surgery after getting hit by a a car. Julia did a amazing job. I now can walk normal and even wakeboard. Other doctors told me they could not even do the surgery because it was so badly damaged. I have experience nothing but professional care from her and her staff. So I don't know how all the negative comment could be true. When she helped me to walk again.
Qualified, caring and a radiologist/ X-ray on site. Everything an accident prone human needs
should have reviewed Yelp rating before I visited her office. I do not recommend this doctor. she literally spent 5min with me after 30min waiting. I explained to her what my problem was, but it does not look like she understood my problem (or even tried to understand my issue). She just sent me to a physical therapist, who does not even take my insurance, and who does not have an opening for next 2 weeks. Well, my wife told me to visit physical therapist a month ago, and now I heard the same treatment from a doctor. the difference is I had to pay for the later. useless and unwilling to help. only reason I give 2 star for this doctor is I was able to make the same day appointment, which is pretty unusual, but now I understand why I could get the same day appointment.
I started seeing Dr. Kahan about 2 years ago as a second opinion. I had two surgeries in 2012 on my left ankle and I knew something wasn't right. When the previous Doc told me it was just scar tissue and I'd have to have a third surgery which may or may not work, I was fed up and absolutely devastated. Having those two surgeries from that Doctor, I decided to go for a second opinion that led me to Dr. Julia Kahan. She listened to my problems, suggested an xray and MRI, and found I had advanced arthritis (at 22 years old) and the mistakes made by my previous surgeon. We did try non invasive treatment first, which I was extremely grateful for. The 5 year span after those surgeries completely changed my life. I couldn't stand for long periods of time, I couldn't hike, walk on sand, and eventually had to quit my career which required me to be on my feet for long periods of time. I was so depressed from being in constant pain and not being able to do anything I love. Then Doctor Kahan came into my life and I couldn't be happier. After non invasive treatment wasn't really doing much for me, we did a subtalar fushion surgery. She is incredibly honest and straightforward, which I also have a huge appreciation for. The healing journey was long, but she was on top of it. Also, there is a period of time after surgery where there is no copay, which I found nice since I couldn't work and I was in there almost every other week. There was an xray every single time, she sent me to physical therapy (something my previous surgeon didn't do either time) and really kept on me about doing what I needed to do as her patient to heal in the best way possible.Dr. Julia Kahan truly gave me my life back. I can't describe how happy I am to have found her. She is intelligent, and as long as I live in San Jose, I will come to her with any orthopedic problem I may come across, and will refer anyone and everyone to her.As for the wait times, there were only a handful of times I've had to wait for a while, but honestly that doesn't bother me. I actually really appreciate her straightforward demeanor. I don't see it as rude at all. Her staff has also always been so lovely and welcoming every time I have been in, even on the days when they were really busy. Truthfully, I have seen over 6 specialist BEFORE my first two surgeries trying to get a grasp on what was going on, two horrible, botched surgeries, and years of chronic pain. Dr. Julia Kahan literally changed all of that for me, and I am now able to move on with my life and do the things I used to do, and the results of the surgery she performed were flawless.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
