List of Karen Kunzel's Reviews
I’ve been going here 4 years and Dr Kunzel is great. However, the front desk failed to alert me ( a whole week in advance) that she was out sick for a whole week. I drove an hour and a half away from novato to here, and missed half a day of work and the receptionist didnt seem to have a crumb of remorse. She had told me she called me and it went to voicemail, I have no record of a call. Even if that was the case, no one tried to call me again! I am very weary of leaving bad reviews but this was crazy to me! Patients time is very important. Please communicate with your patients more effectively, perhaps by text. It’s 2022. Thanks
Staff is super rude. They failed to call me and tell me my appointment had been cancelled when they had a whole week to do so. Lied to my face and told me they gave me a call! Lost money missing half a day of work, and spent a lot of gas money (Drove an hour and half a way since i live in novato now) and they had zero remorse! Acted as if it was my fault i didnt answer this made up call!! And seeing the other reviews.. maybe its time to find a new doctor!
I had switched to Dr. Kunzel in the middle of my 2nd pregnancy and was very happy with her. I continued until my insurance wouldn’t cover that particular office/doctors. I was very comfortable with her and she was always very thorough with all my appts whether annual or another issue. Will miss going to her
Warning: Dr. Kunzel has the worst bedside manners! She is very insensitive, rude, disrespectful and will try to spend less than five minutes with a patient. She needs to retire because she doesn't appear to like her job and doesn't care to communicate properly with patients. She did not examine me. She barely spoke with me for 2 minutes then she got up to leave when I was still asking her questions. She opened the door and was speaking loudly with the door open. I'm sure everyone in the waiting room heard my medical business based on Dr. Kunzel standing in the doorway with the door open as she was trying to leave. Why did her staff schedule her to see me for less than five minutes or did she just want to be rude because she didn't want to do her job? My wonderful gynecologist in the same office, Dr. Trobough, retired so a couple months later I was referred to Dr. Karen Kunzel who was supposed to take on Dr. Trobough's patients. I scheduled the appointment since I had three IUIs with Dr. Trobough and wanted to continue the treatments to help me conceive with Dr. Kunzel. Initially, it appeared she was going to help me when she learned I had the treatments with Dr. Trobough. She had not read my file to prepare for the appointment. Once she discovered my age, she got up to leave and told me directly that I was old and my eggs were old and she will not provide the IUIs even if I used donated eggs. I told her that I already knew my chances of pregnancy were low with my own eggs but I knew that women still have chance to conceive healthy babies as long as they are not in menapause. Both Dr. Trobough ( my previous gynecologist at the same office) and my primary care physician, Dr. Kamaraju, told me that women can still get pregnant and have healthy babies using their own eggs, (even though the chances of pregnancy are low after age 45), as long as they are not in menopause. I told her this and she disagreed and rolled her eyes. She didn't care about my privacy as a patient and most of this short conversation was with her speaking to me in a harsh and loud tone with the door open as she was in the doorway trying to leave as soon as she knew my age and knew that I wanted to try to conceive with my own eggs. I told her that it was my business if I wanted to try to conceive at my age; I told her that my aunt had a baby at age 48 and my other aunt had a baby at age 52. Both of my aunts did not plan their pregnancies and both did not have fertility treatments. Dr. Kunzel didn't seem to care and it appeared that she didn't like her job or had any patience to speak to patients. How can anyone be this rude and disrespectful without realizing? She chooses to have the worst bedside manners because she is narcissistic and heartless. Regardless of whether you need an annual exam, want to conceive or already pregnant, Dr. Kunzel is the worst doctor for any woman. I would never recommend her and I am seriously suspicious of any good reviews about her.
Dr. Kunzel has been my doctor for at least 25 years. She delivered all three of my children via cesarean and the surgeries all went well. I find her to be a no nonsense kind of doctor, which works perfectly for me. I don't need her to be overly friendly with me, I just want her to be a good doctor. And that is what she has always been for me. She has always listened to me and is always helpful with any issues or concerns that I have. I have never had a negative experience with her or her office.
Beware of this doctor and her staff. If you need FML or disability papers completed in a timely manner by competent people, forget it. They have no idea how the EDD website works. Uploading was an issue for them. The Doctor thinks she knows what is better for your own body than you do. If you dont feel comfortable taking a vaccine while you are pregnant, she does not care. Dont ever let someone tell you they are an expert on your body, no matter what the CDC recommends. T Choose a doctor who can respect your beliefs and wishes for your own body, cause its "your" body. Also, now she wont even be the one to deliver your baby if she is your doctor as she only works specific hours. If you wNt a doctor that will be with you throughout your pregnancy, find another. This one is almost retired and has one foot out. I wish i would have seen all the other bad reviews on her before I chose her.

Very selfish, uncaring and not professional. If you want a doctor who is rude, disrespectful and doesn't care about your health, then this is the doctor for you.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
