List of Martin Fishman's Reviews
We called Dr. Fishman on a weekend that our Ophthalmologist was on call and they gave us Dr. Fishman's cell number. He answered promptly and recognized the symptoms I described, put our minds at ease & recommended a follow up with our own Ophthalmologist next week. He was very knowledgeable and kind.
Have been a patient for years. And when first going to him, he was personable and friendly. Over the years 10 + he has become remote, unfriendly and has his staff do all the testing. Time to retire.
Brought my elderly mother in for an eye appointment. Had an appointment at 2pm checked in and was not seen till 2:40 ... I had to go wait in line to ask the front desk girl if my appointment was in fact at 2. Perhaps I was just early I thought. The front desk girl was extremely dismissive and said yeah it was at 2 ..they're getting the exam ready.... And walked away. Then we waited another 10 minutes until a nurse came out. 8 people came after us and we're all seen within minutes of their arrival. I understand everyone is getting a different service but this is absurd. The front desk person did not apologize for the delay still unsure what happened very disappointed in the customer service we received. If someone dropped the ball then acknowledge and apologize and handle the issue. There is no excuse to continue to make us wait another 15 minutes after I called them out. What's the point of making an appointment?
The green haired receptionist is rude and unprofessional to senior citizens! Shes been out right mean to both of my folks at different times! You may have “been doing this for a while” but my folks have been seeing the doc there for 30 years! Maybe when you were in high school? Slow your roll you still have a job!
A doctor's doctor. My cousin is a physician, and he recommends Dr. Fishman, if you can get into his schedule. As a patient, I really don't care if I have to wait for my appt, or if the online scheduler is working or not - all the things that affect Yelp reviews. My concern is with surgical and diagnosis skills. And according to my cousin and his circle of physician friends, Dr. Fishman is the best.Cataract surgery both eyes, and stents placed to help with glaucoma. No issues, and happily, my IOP is at the low range of normal. He is very good.
Set an appointment four weeks ago to see Dr. Fishman. I arrived 10 minutes early for my appointment. 45 minutes after my scheduled appointment time I was told I would be next and he would see me in approximately another 15 minutes. Got a refund and left. Arrogant doctor with no respect or courtesy toward any inconvenience his patients may incur. Time to see a new doctor. Should have read the reviews first. Stay away from this one.
Dr Martin Fishman performed removal of cataract and lense implant at El Camino Los Gatos Hospital this morning. The anesthesia perfect woke up and felt as good as going into surgery no after effects. The staff was great and Dr Fishmans calming demeanor very comforting . Going back in 3 weeks time for the next eye. Good bye glasses and astigmatism. Insurance pays for it. I highly recommend Dr Fishman.
If he's not the best, no one is.
So this review is for the outcome of 2 procedures done on my Father, who has since passed away, this was done back in 2003. I took my Father to this office to have cataract surgery, which was done correctly, by Dr. Fishman, and he had no problems from the surgery. However, he needed an additional in-office procedure at another time, which was due to having calcium deposits on the cornea, the front clear part of the eye. I watched the scraping process with a very small blade, took off the calcium. My Father had some type of eye drop to numb his eye while it was being done, This is not something most people would want to watch, but I did! Dr. Fishman did not give my Father a prescription for pain medication, for later in the day. Later that evening, my Father was in horrible pain! This was a man, who never complained about pain, He had a high tolerance, I knew he must be in agonizing pain. The next day was just as bad. I would not recommend this procedure unless you have plenty of pain pills on hand, or unless Dr. Fishman has prescribed them knowing you will need them. My Fathers' eye was sore many days.I personally do not recommend this doctor, who seems so unconcerned about the pain level of a patient. He should automatically know the eyes are very sensitive to even the smallest thing, let alone a blade scraping across to get calcium off.I read other reviews, and also believe the staff do not schedule very well, at least back then. We always had to wait, and wait.
In 2003 approx. I took my father to see Dr. Fishman, he diagnosed the problem quickly, and did a corneal scraping. Unfortunately, the pain experienced after anesthetic wore off, hours later at home, was intolerable. If you ever have this done, ask for strong pain meds for later in the day. Dr. Fishman also did cataract surgery on one of my Fathers eyes, and it was successful, no problems at all.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
