List of Matthew Talarico's Reviews
Dr. Talarico is an excellent doctor but when i had a chest scan come back with issues, I could not get a phone call or visit with him to discuss the results and his staff was not helpful in explaining the condition. I had to see his NP who was not very empathic or encouraging.
He spent more time telling me about himself, he is energetic, holistic, ect. I wanted a cancer screening, he kept asking about other things, then wanted me to book another appointment in a few months. He told me I was in good hands and abruptly left the room. I didn't get the cancer screening! Don't waste your time here.
Doc is one of the best doctors I've ever been to. He's friendly, informative, professional. Matt takes the time to listen to you .add exolain
Dr. Talarico’s office is mismanaged from the top-down. Be prepared to constantly follow up with inept office staff. This includes any faxing, emailing and phone calls to other specialists and labs that need to be communicated by the office. The practice also seem to be booked over 90 days in advance which means any medical concerns need to be fulfilled at urgent care. Don’t expect any follow up from these urgent care visits from Dr. Talarico. My mother had to wait 3 months to get a follow up from an x-ray for her knee only to find out that the Doctor couldn’t access the files/locate files. He said his “computers were down” but didn’t reschedule or communicate the results when the computers came back online. Many other medical offices in SLO county seem to be able to handle simple follow up with ease, but not Dr. Talarico or his office staff. Many have commented on his “good bedside manner”, but sometimes effective problem solving starts with organization and good old fashioned hard work. This office seems to lack both.
Very kind and a good listener
He is very approachable, understanding, and truly wants to help.
ITs a shame what Dignity (couldn't pick a less apt name) has done to the Central Coast doctor's office experience and Dr. Talarico is another one of their casualties. A decent enough doctor but that does you no good if you can't navigate the office, get timely appointments or get a quick answer.
Dr. Talarico is unequivocally the best doctor I have ever had. He is super knowledgeable, caring, patient, and humble. Because he is popular, you do have to be proactive with making your appointments. However, I have always been able to get a timely appointment, especially if I am able to take advantage of a cancellation. Would I like to be able to call and get in the same day, every time? Of course. But no matter how annoying my current boo boo is, I have to remind myself I am not the center of the universe, and I need to work with the office staff and be flexible. The office staff are responsive to my calls, including Dr. Talarico's assistant. When leaving a message, I have always received a call back from her by the next business day. A few years ago, when wanting to set an appointment, I did experience some problems with getting the office staff to respond to my messages, requiring me to call until I could get through to one of the staff, but this issue appears to have been remedied. If you want a doctor who actually listens to you and takes the time to ensure you understand his recommendations... and a doctor who doesn't just throw prescription medicines at you, especially the "prescription of the day" that pharmaceutical companies are pushing on providers... he should be your choice.
We had to change doctors due to our insurance. My husband had several medical issues. Dr. Talarico was direct and told him exactly what to do inorder to improve his health and KEEP HIM FROM ADDING MORE MEDICATIONS. As well ask for me to be included at the next appointment for healthy support at home.Wow! A doctor that understand team effort. My husband's health has improved tremendously in the last several months. He is a busy doctor but gets straight to the point. We are happy for the change in his health.
"Always" a problem with getting routine prescriptions refilled. Takes several weeks to see him for "urgent" medical conditions. Don't bother waiting your time; the office staff is terrible.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
