William Gilbert's Online Review Report Card

My first time meeting with Dr. Gilbert and his jokes were inconsiderately not something I would like coming from a doctor whom I just met. He laughed along with his tech on a sensitive topic we were discussing which I thought was rude, I was very offended. I found it unprofessional and rude. It's my first pregnancy and the laughter and comments made it seem like they were belittling me. I'm not rating him on his knowledge and whatnot, but my first time experience with this doctor and office was not the best. I have to return for another follow-up and I'm dreading it, hope I will not meet him again and get another doctor.

Dr. Gilbert is a wonderful and experienced doctor. Unfortunately he's spread thin and his two other colleagues are not so great. One has the bedside manner of a brillo pad and the other is flippant and condescending. So 1/3 of the time, when you get to see Dr. Gilbert, things are wonderful. The other 2/3, it's frustrating.

As an RN I tend to assume that I'll be taken care of during my own appointments by whom I regard as my colleagues in the larger framework of healthcare. It was an ill-fated pregnancy with my beloved son that brought me to Dr. Gilbert for some high-risk guidance and an overall assessment. I found him to be very succinct, but not in a rude way. He's direct and to the point because I'm sure he's seen it all before. I felt like I was in competent hands, even if the news he was giving me wasn't good. He recommended some additional tests and had his office staff check with my insurance to ensure it would be covered. It was sent to a specific laboratory with whom my insurance is contracted, which was fine by me. Some months later I received a bill for $3000.00 for one of the tests conducted. My insurance said they plainly do not cover that test. That if the office had called to inquire they would have told them that. What's more is that they have no record of ever hearing from Dr. Gilberts office. I've done the research and I can see for myself, now with the benefit of hindsight, that they do not cover that test. If anyone had told me it would have been even remotely that expensive I wouldn't have agreed to it. The icing on this cake is that I never even received the results of that test. It wasn't mailed to me, and I wasn't called and provided the results. I didn't even get them when I requested all of my files from his office in an attempt to negotiate with my insurance company. My calls to Dr. Gilberts office were unreturned. So that's just it. I paid the bill, and I'm lucky to be able to afford to do so but I'm sure this kind of a financial hit could take a more serious toll if I had been any less fortunate and that's why I'm warning others about my experience. It's so easy when a doctor tells you "It's all taken care of," and "it's covered," for you to believe them. Now that I have been through all of this I know to scrutinize every transaction and request reference numbers. I'm not nearly as naive as I was six months ago. I think he's a good doctor but I think like most he's spread very thin and that's when mistakes like this happen.

Dr. Gilbert is the BEST OB/GYN M.D. I had a very complicated pregnancy and could not find a doctor who see me, then Dr. Gilbert said he would take me and my child on. Thankfully he did. My son is now 12 years old and taking classes at Sacramento State College.

If I could give negative stars on this doctor I would! I never met someone so rude, sarcastic and UNPROFESSIONAL. I hope when he is sick in the hospital someone will be as rude to him and he was with me. Request another doctor! go to Yelp and read what other patients have to say about him.

He is the greastest doc ever. I had a very complicated pregnancy and delivery. And if it wasnt for Dr.Gilbert that had done my csection I wouldnt be ok with what happen. but he is such a great doctor that I trusted the decisions he made and didnt bat a eye. Thank you Dr.Gilbert
