Ucla Health Manhattan Beach Primary Care's Online Review Report Card

I used to like coming here. However, as of late, it feels like a factory, where they churn you out as quickly as possible, and nickel and dime you on lots of little things. There is no desire for an exemplary patient experience and one is left with a bunch of excuses. I raised my concerns to the "patient advocate" but they just ignored and didn't do anything.

This is a great resource for the community. The doctors/staff are excellent, they're available, interested and engaged. Our children grew up with great pediatric care and we all continue. Dr Austin, Dr Tran and others are fantastic and care.

We have been taking our 93-year-old mother, who has dementia to Dr. Tran for over 4 years now. Dr. Tran and the staff are kind, understanding and always on top of issues. We rarely have to wait long and when we do it is worth it because obviously the medical team is working with another patient. Dr Tran has personally called to follow up after visits and makes us feel that she truly cares about her patients.

I saw Dr. Dupree yesterday, everyone from the receptionist and nurse are nice. Dr. Dupree is exceptional and do the exam perfectly. Doctors like him make UCLA a prime provide for LGBTQ care, yeah, that rainbow U logo. I saw other negative comments, and my suggestions are you need a good insurance for any UCLA locations. Top notch service comes with a price, and this is not your community health center around the corner. The facility itself is nice and clean, with underground free parking perfect for a warm day. They have all the essentials, can do exams other primary care usually don't have the equipment to do.

just wanted to say that adam garibay at harbor-ucla medical center, is great made me feel so comfortable and safe constantly reassuring me everything was going to be ok and very professional.

I really like the doctors here but customer service could use some improvement. Trying to get an appointment and get in touch with a real person is impossible. I've called several days in a row; first time got an auto message saying they were in a mtg and to call back another time- there's never an option to leave a message. Tried calling multiple times today and was just put on hold with some god-awful music; made an appointment for the future using the app but need to get in touch to have Rx refilled sooner; tried using the Chat feature on their website and they told me I needed to call to talk to someone. Sent message directly to the "doctor" and they said they didn't have my records or my insurance card on file which I've been going here for two+ years and had all Rx's filled by the same doctor. Very odd to me.

Was referred to Dr Sherman, filled out a pre-screen online to hopefully cut down the time spent in the office. It took 20 min to fill out all of my details, create a login etc. Only to be messaged a few hours later that my appointment was canceled and the dr is no longer accepting new patients. Why not include that somewhere before I waste my time? Poor communication, if they can't get this right, I'd be worried about further communication if I actually did see a dr.

Efficient scheduling and notification portal. Fast test results. Great staff. The UCLA portal is the best. Found this place after a previous Dr Office canceled my appointment without notice. It can't happen here, you get push notifications, text msgs, phone calls. They are on it.

The doctor doesn't give eye contact because she spends most of the few minutes spent with you just reviewing your file on the computer. No greeting or warm bedside manner. They find ways to charge you without disclosing that you will be billed. If you go for an annual well visit, sometimes they incorrectly code as a returning sick patient so they can bill you. Even if you say you want only the preventive visit that your insurance covers, they still push the extra blood tests and EKG, etc and they won't tell you that its not covered.The actual physical is a few minutes. My brother is a family doctor who explained to me that a physical exam should take about a half hour if done properly. Never happens.If you mention anything beyond your physical, you are billed for it. I kid you not. Once she asked me on her way out the door, " Do you have any questions or concerns?" I said, no I'm just tired of adult acne. "I can write you a prescription for that", she responds. And she left. Not only did I not fill the prescription (over $100 for a tiny tube that insurance doesn't cover), but I was billed $100, because it wasn't within the scope of a physical.UCLA is a profit driven institution, not patient centered. Sad.
