List of Ucla Health Marina Del Rey Primary Care's Reviews
I saw Max Goldstein about a bad injury to my abdomen. During our appointment he talked over me, cut me off, and made me question my own understanding of my own injuries and health history. He bluntly told me I was just playing a victim, suggested I've never done anything with my life, and I should be on Cymbalta. He mischaracterized our meeting and my concerns in his notes, lying about the severity of my injuries and downplaying the rude and callous way he addressed me. I continued to seek answers for the excessive pain from the abdomen injury that put me in the ER 4 times. I was later diagnosed with celiac plexus trauma, MALS, visceroptosis, on top of a linea alba tear off xyphoid process and diastasis recti from xiphoid process to umbilicus, and two organ herniations. The nervous system damage also shut down my EO, IO and Transversus, which created a lot of instability in my abdomen and thorax. I never got a chance to explain most of this because Goldstein treated my injuries like a joke, and I walked out, depleted, that another doctor at UCLA failed to care. I feel doctors are taught to profile against anyone they deem are suffering mental health issues. Doctors are not therapists, and are prone to their own biases. People with mental health struggles can have bad injuries. Mental health struggle and injury aren't mutually exclusive. I felt my concerns rejected, and me biased against, and my body is still very impacted from utter lack of care. What a waste of time and energy. Shame on UCLA. Shame on Cedars Sinai.
Dr. Tsai is not someone I would ever recommend seeing. She is careless in her visits, makes mistakes and passes the cost on to her patients, and she is extremely avoidant. She lacks integrity in her practice.
I had the same experience as other reviewers Nick and Logan. Wish I would have read the reviews before my appointment so I could have canceled. I came for an annual preventative health exam, and was billed for both that visit AND an office visit for the single brief encounter with Doctor M.G., apparently because I answered his question about how my health has been. Mentioning a recent food poisoning issue was enough for them to bill me for a separate office visit that is "not part of a preventative visit" even though it was the same 5–10 minute conversation. I could not have reasonably expected I would be charged a second visit by answering that question. Looking back, it seems like a trap so that they could charge more. I'm extremely disappointed and will never use UCLA Health again due to the loss of trust.
Wow. Can't believe all the negative reviews! I took my mom here yesterday for her PCP visit. We saw Dr. Brian Boben, who is new there. I highly recommend him. He was so kind and knowledgable and really took the time to assess my mom's issues. My mom can be picky with doctors and their staff, but she was really pleased with the location and building (new and very clean), front desk staff, nurses and especially with Dr. Boben. Unfortunately, since my mom is elderly, she was referred to a geriatrician, so she probably won't be seeing Dr. Boben again. I am sad he is not in-network for my husband or me, or else we'd go to him too. BTW, sounds like a lot of people who wrote negative reviews didn't check with their insurance company first to make sure this place is in network.
Can't believe this old building charges to park . Then you see security sleeping on there chairs. I'm I suppose to feel safe with someone sleeping all the time . Come on really , that should be fraud.
Went here for two years, never had an issue. This is first class care.
While the doctors were great, the billing and administration process and teams is very very bad. I have to get routinely tested (every 3 months) and my tests should be covered 100% under my medical insurance. I have gone in complete circles with this team for both of my appointments as I was charged over 500 dollars initially for my first visit followed by almost 200 dollars for my second visits. It's an absolute corporate nightmare to get the right people on the phone. They just bounce you around a billing line, the lab line, doctors office, back to your insurance, etc. they also don't provide your insurance info to the lab at first so you get billed for the entire bill at first and have to call to have them adjust it. Predatory billing practices at its finest. DO NOT GO THROUGH THIS NETWORK OF BS!
Horrible! Horrible! Horrible! In every way. Shame on you, UCLA for allowing this!
Don't go here. It charges you $508 for a 10 minutes office visit. I did my annual check with them in March and got a $100+ lab test bill, this is a mistake by insurance company and they corrected it. And then I went here again in June because my upset stomach, doctor asked me few questions and wrote a prescription. My appointment was 11 am and I left at 11:20 am including the wait time in the room. I called the billing department and they said $508 is "UCLA price", they can not do anything to adjust the bill. I don't think I will go this place anymore. I will find other doctor/ faciltiy. **Lesson learned** You should always call and ask for estimate before you go to any doctor. Stay safe and health.
Very disappointed. I tried this place out for the first time on my annual physical (which is supposed to be a zero charge event). Prior to seeing the doctor, the nurse asked me to discuss anything going on health-related ... I did and then the doctor asked me some follow-up questions. Without telling me this would happen, they billed me for TWO visits: my annual physical and a second doctor's visit. I thought it was a mistake and called UCLA Health to let them know, but they refused to correct the error, because that's their actual policy. My "physical" was free, but the "second" doctor's visit cost me $200+ out of pocket and more from my insurance company. How is that not illegal double-billing? I paid the bill and told them I'd never be coming back. Who wants to deal with that type of BS? Not me.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
