List of Timothy Vavra's Reviews
Dr. Vavra is a top quality Primary Care doctor. He is very personable, cares for his patience and always has time to address questions or concerns.
I should give this doctor a zero rating. My dad went in to see him for knee pain with swelling and he could not walk. He was crying from the pain he was feeling. This doctor looked at my dad's knee, did not do a full assessment on him or look at prior xrays he had at urgent care. This doctor was more "concerned" and pushing my dad to get the COVID vaccine instead of looking at the reason my dad came there to see him. That very same day my dad went to the ER because he could not tolerate the pain and was not able to walk anymore. His knee swelled up to the size of a watermelon. The ER doctors where he went were very surprised that the PCP did not send him straight to the ER for this. After aspirating the knee and sending out cultures, he was found to have an infection. His pain was very hard to control even with the strongest pain meds he was getting. The next day he was in surgery getting the knee cleaned and a drain was placed. It turns out my dad has a Staph. infection in that knee that needs 4 weeks of antibiotics. If we followed this doctors orders and waited 2 weeks for the ortho referral, the infection would have spread further than his knee, he would have gone septic and he could have died. Thankfully the amazing team at the hospital he is at right now did not blow off my dad the way this doctor did because he does not have the COVID vaccine. It is ones own choice to get vaccinated and a doctor seeing the condition a patient is in should not focus on something that is insignificant to the problem at hand. Loyola patients or others who are thinking of changing physicians think twice about going to him because all he cares about is getting the insurance check instead of patient care. The way he treated my dad could be the way he treats you or your family member.
Dr. Va es really feels your pain...
after many years of seeing him, i had to change because his dismissive attitude and failure to treat my very serious health condition has caused me permanent damage. Not even apologetic. Did not even attempt to help me get to the proper specialists. Never followed up. TERRIBLE physician if you actually have a health problem. Years of flu shots and random sore throats--he's ok but just go to walgreens for that!
I am impressed with the quickness of getting appointments, friendliness of staff, his easy going and compassionate bedside manner, professionalism and accurate diagnosis of my medical conditions. I prefer his non-invasive style of procedures. Easy on the eyes, too (from a females viewpoint).
It is amazing that you can still find a doctor that will take the time to listen to you and truly care. He has been a wonderful family physician. The Loyola staff in his office is top notch too. We are so pleased to have him for our primary care doctor.
Dr. Vavra is great. He is like the old German Doctor I had when I was a kid. Very thorough and great bedside manners. He cares. Being affiliated to Loyola means great care in any area of need.
Dr. Vavra is one of the nicest, smartest, professional doctors that I have come in contact with. I am always able to get an appointment. I am never rushed out of the office. His nurses are the best too. Very friendly and caring.
Because of insurance changes at my job I had to leave Dr. Vavra's care. I was devastated. I realized what kind of doctor's are out there. Dr. Vavra knew my family's medical history and my history by heart. He follows up and personally cares about you. I suffer from depression also and found him to be very understanding.
I have had very good experiences with Dr. Vavra. He has never hesitated to refer me to a specialist or for further testing. I was sorry to read some of the negative reviews. One thing to remember is that you need to take charge of your health care. If you feel you are not being heard or treated properly, find another doctor. As for the reviewer whose appointment was canceled, I understand your frustration but it happens.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
