List of Jennifer Kaufman's Reviews
Improper technique. Misdiagnosed. No follow up. Rushed and pretty sure the procedure was also rushed
I assume - hope - her ability to carry out my endoscopy is better than her bedside manner. I've read the reviews... seems Dr Jennifer Kaufman receives a lot of 5's - and also her fair share of 2's. This leads me to wonder if she decides on the spot to whom she's going to extend a friendly manner to and to whom it's going to be all business. For me, it was the latter. It doesn't costs a lot to smile, show some friendliness, some humanitiy. Especially in a situation where an invasive procedure is involved. Particularly for a senior doctor that has been doing this for many years. She had only a few minutes in which she could have demonstrated some friendliness and she clearly chose not to. For that, I will make sure I don't deal with her again. Many doctors at the Holly Street Clinic can carry out the procedure. I overheard others doctors relating to their patients very well, very nicely. Bottom line: 'A' for doctoring skills (hopefully). 'F' for friendliness.
My initial appointment with Dr. Kaufman was very disheartening. It was a phone consultation and I described my situation. I suggested I thought it might be something as simple as ulcers to which she scoffed at me and suggested it was something significantly worse. This of course kept me worried until my endoscopy and colonoscopy appointment a couple of weeks later. After the scopes were completed, she walked into my recovery area and said everything was fine and I could go back to eating like normal. I said, but that is the problem, I can't eat without throwing up! She literally shrugged, suggested I follow up with my gp about eating disorders, told me she took biopsies, would be in touch and walked away. That was it. The staff told me that someone would follow up with test results. Weeks went by, and no communication. I called daily to find out and finally someone gave me results. Nothing of significance. When the problem still persisted, my GP put in yet another request for me to see Dr. Kaufman. Her office gave me an appointment 6 months out and told me to call M/W/F at 9am to see if there was a cancellation earlier. I did that and never heard back at any point. My GP tried finding another doctor to help, but no one would take me one based on Dr. Kaufman's notes and that I was already scheduled for an appointment. My situation continued to get worse, lost 80lbs in 6 months, becoming dizzy constantly and even passing out. Today was supposed to be my appointment. She had her staff call to cancel on me because I had another colonoscopy/endoscopy scheduled for this week, from another doctor (because the situation has become so bad and her track record of taking months to help me, I didn't want to risk waiting into the new year for another one). She refused to see me. She has treated me like an inconvenience, suggested I have an eating disorder, essentially black listed me from receiving medical assistance from anyone else, and I'm still suffering. It's been nearly a year. I just want to get better, and she is the reason now it's taken so long. I understand the system is in dire straights, but having doctors like this with zero empathy or desire to help with something that isn't easily taken care of doesn't help. It further clogs up the system since we have to try and seek assistance in many places.
Outstanding team and wonderful doctor! My appointment was a best as it could be.
Dr kaufmans staff at the Toronto Immune and Digestive clinic is a 0. Endo was done on time so she is punctual. However, I can't rate Dr Kaufman as competent because she sent a prescription with no licence number and no Dr's signature. Wasting my gas, time and delaying my recovery. I still after 2 days cannot get ahold of her to have this fixed. Totally incompetent.
Following up on the experience with Dr. Kaufman from 10 years ago. Dr. Kaufman, like most good practitioners, had a waiting time, but unlike the first clinic to which the family doctor referred us, which had a waiting period of 2.5 months, Dr. Kaufman was able to see us in just under 4 weeks. In our experience, she was efficient, we felt she was "on our side" in terms of advocating for our health after a serious diagnosis and really cared that the health issue would be addressed as soon as possible - even calling the surgeon directly to book asap. Our experience was very positive and the communication with North York General very quick - and that's what you want when your health is compromised.
Saw Dr. Kaufman years ago for unexplained extreme abdominal pain that had gone on for years but was worsening and becoming more frequent to the point where I couldn't work anymore. I remembered today the experience of seeing her. She did all the tests including a colonoscopy and when she found nothing, she treated me like an inconvenience, like someone who was pretending or didn't know what they were talking about. Treated me like this while I was suffering at home in pain running out of savings and never knowing if I'd feel okay again. Thinking back to that, it was a horrible time. All she had to say was it's not a problem within my specialization, you'll have to talk again with your family doctor. That's all. Anyway was an awful experience during a terrible time and I thought important to share.
Awesome staff. Very, very unhappy that she is moving location (the new one is quite inconvenient for me - Allen). Have had 2 colonoscopies with her and lots of follow-up. She is a bit brief, but if you have your questions ready, they will all be answered.

Best staff and doctors at the Holly St. Clinic....very attententive, helpful, professional and so friendly...

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
