I love Dr.Porras . My daughters have been going to her for a while now . But honestly it’s so hard to get an appointment with them for past year . I have been taking my daughters when they are sick to urgent care or emergency. The one one time I actually see their doctor is when they have physicals . It’s so frustrating. I have switched them doctors for that reason.
Initially I had an amazing experience with this office when my son was born and we’ve been coming here up til now that he’s 4. Dr Diaz has always been an amazing doctor, but sadly in the past 2 years it has been impossible to even get a visit with him, we’ve gotten other doctors because he’s never available. And now we haven’t even been able to get an appointment at all when my son’s been sick. We were sent in for a sleep lab in Madera months ago, I’ve called for results because I have never received them and still no answer. My son continues to have the same sleep issues and I’ve had no answers. It’s so upsetting to have drove out in hopes of getting an answer and know nothing about my child’s health. Now I’m trying to find a better provider out of desperation. Do better Valley Children’s.
Unfortunately I have to give this office a very low score. I use to work for valley childrens hospital and I am quite ashamed to give such poor reviews about this office. I could never get a hold of front desk at all and would only talk to operator. When my child was sick they would not see him even if you wanted to get an appnt I had to wait 6 months to see his provider. So ridiculous that why are you guys taking in so much patients and we have to wait so long to be seen? In merced, this is very unfortunate since the hospital is so far away and you have to take them into an urgent care. You would think that Valley Childrens would be able to do better because they are “rated to be one of the best”. The hospital staffs just do their job. I have not had a bad experience with the staffs. The drs are great. I feel like they try their best to always explain to you. Other than that the office is always filled with patients and you can never get an appointment soon. Always waiting for months. I am hoping to switch drs. Wether you have medi-cal or private insurance don’t choose this place. Look else where because when your child is sick they don’t care for you and tells you to go to urgent care. I hope that this place does better since it’s a clinic that represents Valley Childrens. Hoping that everyone gives the honest reviews and this place would be able to do better because it really needs too.
Dr Diaz is an awesome pediatrician, he takes his time talking to parents and answering questions and concerns. Unfortunately, his front office needs some cleaning up to do. Who hires these people anyways? The girls at the front are always rude and you can expect not to get any warm welcomes. Not only that, their billing department is the worst. The girls that work there lack professionalism and patient interaction. I had issues on two different occasions where I received a bill for service and had to call my insurance just to find out no claims were ever submitted or denied. Either the girls there are too lazy or don’t know how to do their job. They refused to resubmit a claim even after I called my insurance just like how they wanted me to. “The insurance will just deny it again,” is how they responded. After being frustrated and upset the girl there has the audacity to tell me she will do “a courtesy” this time to resubmit the claim, and of course when she did it again it goes through. It’s like they give you no answers, it’s either talk to your insurance or pay because we can’t help you. If you took the time to talk to your patient and see what may be causing the denial things will be much easier. If it was not for Dr Diaz, I would have gone elsewhere. Lately, I have been thinking about switching Drs. They need to train their staff to provide better care or hire new ones.
I absolutely love Dr. Porras, she’s an amazing doctor, but the overall service is terrible. I can never get an appointment for my daughter when she is sick. I always have to take her directly to the ER and even then when I have to make a follow up appointment, it is impossible to do so. They are always SO booked, so it almost feels like my daughter doesn’t have a set pediatrician. I really wish I could take my daughter in when she’s sick, rather than stressing about which ER I’m going to have to take her to. If your child is one to always get sick I would NOT recommend this office.
Never able to get in for same day appointments. After going to ER with pneumonia I had to sit, wait and insist until my son was seen for the necessary follow up appt. The staff on that occasion was rude. Drew up wrong vaccines once, tried to have me sign a vaccine waiver for one that he did not need per CDC guidelines on another visit. As for the Dr's, I like them, Dr Porras and especially Dr Diaz but the inability to get existing patients in when they are sick while still accepting new patients is insane. Two week wait is not acceptable. I will be switching providers.
The Doctors are amazing and very good at explaining everything. It is very frustrating that it's impossible to reach anyone through the phone. Call back to back for over an hour just to be told by a voicemail to leave a message and will return call within 2 hours. And not even receive a call back.
Wait time is so long while the staff speaks Ill of the patients and spends most of their time on their phones and giggling amongst them self's.
Horrible service. They never answer the phone (only appointments). If you need to follow up on anything like referrals you have to go in person. Been waiting months for 2 referrals.. Had to file a grievance with insurance company.
I don't recommend this office. I have two children. Both seen by the variety of drs. In this office. It is nearly impossible to get a same day appointment if your child is sick. I have had one child diagnosed incorrectly and finally after a third injury was given the MRI I requested but only after I went to the higher ups. Then my other child recently injured in a car accident had been suffering with pain for a month. We asked for MRIs to verify nothing else was wrong or causing her back pain and we are denied because they don't find it necessary. She was recommended PT. We did that with our other child just to spend money and later find out the diagnosis was wrong. I rather not do that twice. My first child's injury only showed up in a MRI, so what if it's the case with the second child. We need drs. Who care. This office has let me down to many times. This isn't even the half of the things they do wrong. Our children should have better care then what is being provided by these drs.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
