List of Alexander Taghva's Reviews
Had microdiscectomy surgery performed by Dr Taghva 5 weeks ago. I had gone through 60 days of severe sciatica caused by an herniated disk. I tried acupuncture, chiropracticy, deep tissue message, Pilates ,and finally epidural injection with little relief. Went to see Dr Taghva who reviewed my MRI and suggested Microdiscectomy surgery. I had the surgery 7 days after seeing him. This was my second surgery with Dr Taghva, the first being having two discs replaced in my neck in 2021. I have had positive outcomes after each surgery. Both surgeries have allowed me to continue to live a pain free active life. I did a lot of research finding the best surgeon before finding Dr Taghva. I would absolutely recommend him to anyone looking for a neurosurgeon.
Dr. Taghva and his assistant and the office are awesome. I'm happy with my surgery and the service I received!!!!
Response to his response with original review below. Your sorry means nothing. Funny how you're more attentive & quick to respond to your reviews 🙄 than you are to the patient (ME) when actually being face to face in a scheduled appointment. So, first... The name used is a partial name not a FAKE one. My name is Crystal. It's not always what you say but how you say it. Oh, my bad that you couldn't just run & pull my file so that you could review before responding, what a joke. Secondly: Yes I did have a previously FAILED surgery that led to the removal of stimulator BUT YOU (again) are completely WRONG in assuming the FAILED SURGERY was performed by a different doctor. YOU & YOUR TEAM ARE THE ONES WHO PUT THE STIMULATOR IN. YOU & YOUR TEAM FAILED ME. 3rd. "It doesn't sound like something your team would say??? So am I now being called a liar? I really hope you do take it seriously when one of your team members tell a patient thst "it's in your head" ESPECIALLY after the fact that YOU performed the surgery. Does this mean you perform non-needed surgery on folks? You can try & respond to reviews to cover yourself & defend yourself against any not so good reviews BUT your responses are NOT needed, this review is not for you to respond to, it's for the people who are considering going to you. & 4th, Great, good for you , that you that don't generally receive feedback regarding your attentive-ness BUT in my case, YOU were so far from any time of acknowledgement or attentive-ness of me during my APPOINTED, SCHEDULED (& paid for), Face to Face meeting with you to discuss the implant stimulator surgery. WHAT A JOKE.... Original Review: I should have known when Dr. T couldn't even look at me (just the screen) for less than 3 mins, i should have just left but was told he was the best. Best what? After a very unsuccessful surgery of a stimulator that had to be removed several months after being put in because leads kept twisting and slipping, I now have post surgery issues that are life effecting EVERYDAY, i was told by Dr's assistant (because AGAIN, DR.T had no time for me) that it was all in my head. wow, im disgusted. They should be ashamed of themselves .
Upon seeing Dr. Taghva, I immediately noticed the difference. He not only took the time to understand my situation but also suggested a minimally invasive laminotomy. I underwent the procedure and was even able to return home the same day. Now, I am completely pain-free. I'm beyond grateful to have found a surgeon who prioritized my well-being and offered an effective solution without resorting to invasive surgeries. If you're seeking a skilled and compassionate neurosurgeon, Dr. Taghva is the one!
I cannot recommend Dr. Alexander Taghva enough. After experiencing debilitating sciatica pain, I initially consulted with Dr. Liauw. Unfortunately, my experience was disappointing as he spent very little time with me, didn't conduct a thorough examination, and immediately recommended a fusion surgery with screws and rods. Concerned about this aggressive approach, I consulted my primary care doctor, who referred me to Dr. Taghva, mentioning his more conservative treatment approach.
After discovering a synovial cyst in my lumbar spine that caused me tremendous leg pain, I initially consulted with Dr. Burdi who suggested a fusion. Concerned about undergoing a fusion at my age, I sought second opinions. Thankfully, both friends and my general doctor pointed me towards Dr. Taghva. From the first meeting, I felt at ease and trusted his expertise. Instead of jumping straight to fusion, Dr. Taghva proposed removing the cyst first, mentioning that there might be a small chance for a fusion in the future. I underwent the procedure through a minor incision and was back home on the same day. A year has passed since, and I'm elated to report that I'm pain-free. My only regret is not writing this review sooner. Thank you, Dr. Taghva, for your exceptional care!
In recent years, dealing with my medical issues has become even more daunting. Suffering from a cervical herniated disc, I was plagued by relentless neck and arm pain and even noticed a disconcerting loss of strength and feeling in my arms and hands. I consulted with numerous orthopedic spine surgeons, and each time was told that fusion was my only hope. One piece of advice that stuck with me was from a dear friend who mentioned, "Ortho doctors tend to think only about bones, but neurosurgeons think of nerves." Taking this to heart, I sought out a neurosurgeon's perspective and was fortunate to find Dr. Taghva. He took a different approach, suggesting a disc replacement over fusion. The procedure was smooth, and to my astonishment, I returned home the same day without the pain that had haunted me for so long. My heartfelt gratitude goes to Dr. Taghva for looking beyond the bones and truly understanding my needs. A gem in the medical field!
Dr Taghva and his staff are simply the best! I had a failed 3 level spinal fusion 5 months ago that was causing intense nerve pain in my right arm. After multiple visits to the ER and many visits to another Dr, he was the only Dr not afraid to operate on me to correct the issue that was causing all the pain. I can’t express the amount of gratitude I have for both him and his staff. I am forever grateful to you Dr Taghva. Thank you to him and his staff for helping me through this road to recovery. Thank you thank you thank you 🙏
Dr Taghva, Bryan, and Gabrielle have all been so amazing! Dr Taghva was patient, nice, and took the time to explain everything to me. He gave me options and didn’t pressure me into surgery, however he was very realistic about my symptoms and my lifestyle/career/ home life moving forward. Dr Taghva did an excellent job with my surgery, and just 2 weeks out and I am feeling so much better! I was so comfortable trusting me with his care!
Excellent skilled treatment and overall care from Dr. Taghva and his highly trained team. Pre-op, the PLIF surgical procedure (L4/L5 lumbar spine), as well as Post-op all went smoothly. Mission hosp. staff for my 3-day stay also performed at a commendable professional level. Very pleased with the results.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
