Dr. Anthony Kim is a miracle Neurosurgeon! My husband had a major accident and injured is cervical spinal cord severely. We were so blessed to have Dr. Kim examined my husband and operated on him. It was an 11-hour surgery and I waited in the hospital lobby not knowing what fate awaits us and if my husband will ever mobile again. My husband recovered, he can walk and use both of his arms now. Thank you Dr. Kim!
Had a very long consult with Dr. Kim about my spine issues and how to best manage my pain. He has great beside manner and took a lot of time to explain my X-rays and MRI. He was very thorough and answered all my questions patiently. He was very honest in that at this time I do NOT need surgery. I was grateful that I was referred to him and highly recommend him.
D Kim performed a very extensive (c2 --t3 surgery) that was unnecessary and left me in great physical and emotional distress. I do not recommend him under any circumstance.
I went from not being able to walk more that 20 feet without severe pain back to living a normal life. No one takes the risks of spine surgery lightly but i suffered no ill effects. Dr. Kim was always patient and explained things thoroughly. Recovery took time but I am so happy to be able to walk normally with no pain. I give Dr. Kim my highest recommendation.
I would tell everyone about Dr. Kim in fact I have not stopped talking about him since I left the hospital. He is smart "great" at what he does and a down to earth Doctor. So very happy he came into my life.
I am so grateful for this Doctor. Dr. Kim's level of care compassion and patience are awesome. Two years ago my husband's spinal condition was very serious and extremely painful. Dr. Kim's skill has enabled my husband to resume a normal life without the threat of being confined to a wheel chair. Dr. Kim and his coordinator, Elizabeth are wonderful.
Superlative. Although one might not like the information and assessment given by Dr. Kim, he is truthful and will give you the hard facts. At the same time, he is compassionate. Our daughter had only a 10% chance of surviving emergency neurosurgery. She's alive and recovering. The ICU nurses were in awe. Everyone at the hospital was filled with admiration at his expertise. For us: a miracle.
His staff could be better considering how good he is. He was very attentive with me..my one complaint is cancelations of appointments. He is very straight and honest ...he is very humble, compassionate and I guess this makes up for hi staff being so poor, some believe that the staff you surround yourself is the kind of surgeon you are but aside from his staff he really is very good
I agree with other post about front desk staff, they are RUDE. I'm also a doc and would fire the front desk staff if they worked for me. Dr. Kim and his assistant, Melissa are enjoyable. Dr. Kim has no say over other staff, they're hired by the senior partners. I have serious back issues, and most doctors would be in a hurry to cut me open and collect a big checks. I have seen Dr. Kim for 5 years now, and he has watched my condition for any changes. There is no guarantee that surgery will fix my problem, but a high probability surgery would worsen. It was the first surgeon's desire to operate that left me in my present condition, and Dr. Kim does not want to worsen the equilibrium I have without higher probability of success. He has used my case for Symposia to illicit ideas from other spine docs, and he has sent me to see his mentor at USC. Everyone agrees with Dr. Kim to wait for better technology before treating. I'm glad he has taken his time, I could not handle being worse off.
In my opinion, the doctor is completely absent regarding his patients. He doesn't return phone calls. He orders tests and doesn't follow up with his patients. But the worst is having to deal with his personal assistants. They are rude and unhelpful. However, the doctor is unresponsive to complaints about them. In general he is not approachable to his patients in any way at all.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
