His repeated surgery on my finger and thumb ended in very serious infection that he did not know how to handle and treat it. I had to change surgeon for the third surgery.

Dr. Elzik is an extremely talented orthopedic surgeon. He rebuilt a joint in my hand and I could not be happier with the outcome. I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone seeking a hand specialist.

I have never been to any doctor, especially a specialist, whose practice runs so efficiently. I was a new patient, and the electronic pre check in/copay meant ZERO paperwork. I didn’t get called back until 30 minutes after my appointment time, so to my astonishment I was in X-rays 2 minutes later. Two minutes after that Dr. Elzik was performing my procedure. It is a rare doctor who respects his patients time. In and out in under and hour with X-ray and procedure! Every single staff person was kind and helpful as well.

I am a Neurosurgeon at Mission Hospital, Hoag, Hoag Orthopedic Institute, and Saddleback Memorial, so when my dad broke his wrist I naturally reached out to numerous colleagues to find the very best. Dr. Elzik was recommended to me by a multitude of primary care and specialty orthopedic surgeons, so I can at least attest to his excellent reputation in Orange County among physicians which is probably the highest validation of reputation possible. My dad was under Dr. Elzik's care, and he offered both conservative and minimally invasive surgical options. He took a very caring approach and at the same time discussed the technical nuances of his approaches that made it very clear to me that he was a thorough and very technically skilled surgeon. I tell my own patients all the time that you only want to get surgery once, and given that, you want a good surgeon. Dr. Elzik is not only very genuine and caring, he is a surgeon's surgeon with regards to skill. Take it from another surgeon in Orange County who did his research thoroughly, Dr. Elzik is best in class. You will be in great hands!

My husband was playing with my son's skateboard, tripped and hurt his wrist. After a few weeks of pain, he decided to go see Dr. Elzik. Dr. Elzik gave him instructions on what to do, a special device for his wrist, and he felt better within a few days. Kind, caring and THOUGHTFUL doctor!

Great experience with Dr. Elzik and his office staff today. Dr. Elzik was professional and friendly with my 12yo daughter, which put her right at ease. Scheduling the appointment was fast and easy. The on-line check-in process was user friendly and effective. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful with the additional paperwork that I needed. I slipped on an ice cube in my kitchen with a brand new knife and cut through the tendons to my pinky and ring fingers. A week after the ER I went into the surgery center and it hadn't healed well. I normally am someone who wants a second opinion, but if I did, I wouldnt have had the time to fix the damage in full. Dr. Elsik is probably one of the confident doctors I've ever encountered and I have a lot of experience in the ER and OR. The surgery was exploratory and invasive due to the time passed, but my hand came out with full function and only have acute nerve pain due to using my hand 4 weeks earlier than I should have. I'd trust him with my life, his confidence was so comforting when having the make a big decision like that, I'm beyond grateful for the recovery he allowed me to have!!!

I sustained a Barton Fracture while out walking one day and subsequently tripped on a curb. I went to Mission Hospital for treatment and X-rays confirmed the break. I was referred to Dr. Mark Elzik for surgery. Dr. Elzik was very nice and carefully explained my injury and the risks involved along with setting expectations for recovery. Since I am 70 years old I was worried that I would not be able to obtain full recovery. Dr. Elzik implanted a titanium plate and 6 weeks later I am happy to say I have full recovery! I am so greatful to Dr. Elzik and Emily, my physical therapist for their expertise.
