MIchael Fitzpatrick's Online Review Report Card

See my review of Mission Hospital in Laguna Beach. Dr. Fitzpatrick is perhaps one of the worse communicators I have seen in this field.  He was the covering physician for my dad's surgeon on the day that he had his knee replacement.  He was condescending, rude and basically shouted at me when I asked him to speak with the nurses at the hospital for not providing adequate care.   Both he and the nursing staff seemed to lack knowledge of how to care of inpatients post-operatively.  I get that a TKR is often an outpatient surgery.  But as long as you are in house, after regional anesthesia, you have to be mindful of bladder function and check for output usually within 4-6 hours of the procedure.  That is normal.  Protocols which are routine at other hospitals seemed completely foreign to them.   Their lack of knowledge and lack of concern resulted in an overdistended bladder which needed to be catheterized and drained of 1100 mL of urine (about 3-4 times what a normal bladder is comfortable holding).  This will likely delay return of normal bladder function.  Hopefully my father does not need to go home with a Foley because of this.

I cannot say enough positive things about our experience with Dr  Fitzpatrick and his entire staff. My son unexpectedly needed surgery before he left for college. They have gone over and above since my initial phone call to make certain that he was taken care every step of the way, and on a timeline that will allow him to leave for school. The follow up care has been excellent as well.

Amazing doctor. He is knowledgeable, caring, puts you at ease. Great experience with his office. Trusted him from the very first visit. Four days post surgery. Everything went great. I am confident that the end result will be great. Thank you doctor!

The front desk associates didn’t acknowledge a single patient who walk through the door. Their personal conversations during business hours mattered more. The doctor himself does not want to do any actual work and he also reeks of booze. Worst experience in a medical setting that I have ever had.

Dr Fitzpatrick fixed my totally torn rotator  cuff and torn bicep. He is an excellent surgeon. The surgery went great and my shoulder feels like new. No pain whatsoever.

I was recommended to Dr. Fitzpatrick by a colleague of mine that had a shoulder replacement done with him. He is not only extremely knowledgable, he also took his time explaining everything to me so I completely understood all my options. I highly recommend Dr. Fitzpatrick. Also note, his staff was super friendly.

My first surgeon said I was to old for the shoulder surgery. Dr Fitzpatrick said he could perform the surgery successfully but rehabilitation would be longer. Surgery and rehab were successful. Here it is 5 years later and I have absolutely no issues with the shoulder at anytime.

Had shoulder surgery with Dr. Fitzpatrick recently. Doing great. Had previous wrist surgery with him. Also great! There’s no better Ortho! My son & husband are also prior patients.

I had some major shoulder ussues that had i to correct.. I entrust him to do the procedure. He gave me a brand new shoulder. He is the one that you want to if you want to feel brand new. I had mine done in 2016 and still feel brand new til this day.
