List of Stephen L. Tocci's Reviews
I was in bad shape, mentally and physically, when I saw Dr. Tocci for the 1st time. I had been in chronic pain, and without a diagnosis for over 2 years and I didn't want to go on. He examined me and gave me a diagnosis of Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome, just like that. It was a miracle to have a name for my nightmare. He was/is kind, patient, communicated everything clearly, even with diagrams. He's the best, he saved my life. I had successful surgery and I'm no longer in pain. I cannot thank him and his expertise enough. I couldn't be more grateful. :-) His office staff, and the surgery center are great too! Highly recommend Dr. Tocci!!!!!!!!
Very competent and kind physician.
Attentive and knowledgeable, spent a lot of time examining and explaining. Had surgery on 2 hammer toes, very happy with the surgery center and their staff especially the anesthesiologist
Dr. Tocci is great! He is very knowledgeable, has a wonderful bedside manner, and he was able to quickly address my problem without jumping to a surgical solution (which another doctor said was mandatory).
Dr. Tocci is amazing. He always takes time to explain everything in detail so that I understand what is happening. His bedside manner is phenomenal, not only is he is super sweet and caring, he is extremely knowledgeable in his field. I would literally trust him with my life.
Dr. Tocci was recommended to me by my primary care doctor for bunion surgery. I have to say my experience has been amazing. Dr. Tocci was very engaging with every visit I had and very honest and upfront as to how everything would go. I’m 12 days postoperative and my foot looks amazing. I would highly recommend Dr. Tocci for anything foot or ankle.
Dr Tocci is part of the Community Orthopedic Medical Group of which our family has gone to other (excellent) physicians there. Unfortunately, Dr Tocci is the exception and is a prime example of the type of "high-volume" doctor that I've tried to avoid. He spends very little time with the patient (5 minutes maximum) assessing, diagnosing and prescribing treatment. In addition, he does not collaborate with the patient regarding questions, treatment, outcomes, etc but rather rushes as quickly as possible through questions with minimal answers. In my case, the result was a misdiagnosis of a stage 3 ankle sprain with a fracture of the Talus upon viewing his office x-rays. On the Second visit (post CT scan) he then advises that the Talus is fine, but there is a bone "chip" that needs to be removed and strongly suggested surgery that week. He also advised that I had only a grade 2 sprain (the difference being significant in that grade 3 is a complete tear of the ligament into 2 sections, and grade 2 is a partial. Again I was rushed to schedule surgery. Upon telling Dr Tocci that I had a list of questions, he replied "I bet you do" and again gave minimal answers. Upon leaving his office, I obtained a second opinion from another orthopedic surgeon that spent a full hour with me reviewing my CT scans and explaining the mechanism of my injury. To my surprise, Dr Tocci never told me that the bone "Chip" was actually from the Extensor Digitrorum Longus muscle having pulled away a part of heel bone with it when I fell! This type of fracture is known as an avulsion. Had I allowed Dr Tocci to remove the "chip" the Extensor Digitrorum Longus muscle would have been permanently disconnected from my heel, crippling my ability to balance once I'd recovered (this muscle lifts the toes upward). The second surgeon strongly advised against surgery to let the "chip" heal and form a "union" with the heelbone, since avulsion fracture rarely need surgery! A new MRI was ordered 4 weeks later and indeed the chip had formed a union with the heelbone and I can now lift my toes with no pain. The problem with Dr Tocci is not his experience or credentials which I do not dispute, but rather he is unwilling to take the time to apply his knowledge for the benefit of his patients and would rather "churn" them via quick visits and unneeded surgeries to increase his income.
Absolutely horrible. I was left with much worse pain. He not only didn’t treat my original neuroma he cut a new and worse one.
A happy Patient, I saw Dr. Tocci for a bunions and hammer toes. I had some apprehension about surgery as I heard friends who had surgery else where with poor results. Dr. Tocci's great bedside manner put my mind at ease. I found out that my pain was also from some bone spurs that he shaved down during surgery. It's been 2 months post surgery. The recovery was much easier than I expected. My foot looks "beautiful", straight toes! I plan on doing my other foot as well with Dr. Tocci.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
