List of Vikas Y. Rao's Reviews
I had a subdural hematoma which is a pool of blood from a ruptured vein on the surface of my brain. Although it didn’t need surgery, it reabsorbed and got better on its own, I could tell Dr Roa really knew what he was doing. His staff was high level and impressive too. If I ever have another problem I would not hesitate to involve him.
One person before surgery - interested, caring, kind & respectful. NONE of those things after surgery. I had some complications & he had no intention of seeing me after the surgery. Finally got to see him. His answer to my problem of the brain shunt he put in not helping my symptoms and causing stomach pain? Dr. Rao stated "Well, it was your neurologist that wanted the surgery..." Seriously?? So this doc performs surgeries just for the money with disregard to patient health and safety? - Yep!
On his way to a retreat my husband started having strange health signs. I told his friend to take him to Mission Hospital where Dr.Rao discovered terminal brain cancer that we had no idea was there. 5 months later, he used a special dye to further go in and aggressively get the most humanly possible amount of this terminal cancer. Yesterday he went to see if he could participate in a research study. One of the doctors told us that Dr. Rao did so well that the people in charge of deciding who can be accepted into the study just might deny my husband’s participation… meaning that there is not enough cancer/tumor present! THAT, dear reader, equals he has saved or at least extended my love’s life two times in the last 6 months!
March 21st, 2022 I came into the hospital via ambulance with a subarachnoid hemorrhage, ( a burst aneurism, a stroke stemming from the brain.) Dr. Rao explained the situation with care to my husband and did surgery early the next morning. He put in a “coil” through my groin up into the artery containing the aneurism. I used to say “ Hey, it ain’t brain surgery.” Now I truly get it! Amazing skill! Dr Rao checked in on me several times in ICU and answered all my questions in understandable terms, and offered more info on my follow up visit. He is personable, talented and I would recommend Dr Rao. His assistant was excellent too. I’m so sorry! I can’t remember her name!
Dr. Rao did my Retrosigmoid surgery on my Acoustic Neuroma 2017, he is an amazing very knowledgeable surgeon and professional. I highly recommend him.
Dr. Rao saved my life when my vp shunt got infectedl after a cut along the shunt track. When he removed it there was puss and a ton of blood cells. Unfortunately all the infection made me crazy and hallucinations. I'm doing a lot better
Dr. Vikas Rao saved my life in Dec 2016.He diagnosed me with a subdural hematoma and operated on me and I am still alive today. I am forever greatfull to him. He is a great neurosurgeon!Bruce Lotz
Dr Vikas Rao is an excellent doctor. After my former neurosurgeon Dr Nwagwu left, I was transferred to Dr Rao and he has been excellent. The office staff are great as well. Danette really helped me out with getting an appointment
Dr Rao is my hero!! I was diagnosed with a Colloid Cyst and he performed the surgery I needed that saved my life. I will be forever grateful for the skilled surgeon he is and his calming bedside manner. Dr. Rao and staff were always attentive and compassionate which made me feel like I was their only patient. Being a gal, he left me with a full head of hair with no sign of surgery to be seen by those who did not know. I am happy to report I have made a full recovery Thank you, Thank you, thank you!
The whole team was wonderful. Danette got me schedule for the CT scan and Dr. Rao fully explained the results showing me the details of the scan, and explained what I need and don't need to do in the future. I appreciate their efforts!!! And the office staff was great too!!! Thanks!!!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
