List of William WARREN Kwan's Reviews
The whole office is professional, knowledgeable, and accommodating. Would recommend to anyone.
Dr Kwan himself was knowledgeable and warm, but his office staff was unorganized. in addition, I've only been able to visit him once, as everytime I call to make an appointment I get the answering machine, and never get a call back. I guess it's time to try someplace else.
This is a long overdue review of the fabulous Dr. Kwan! I’ve been seeing Dr. Kwan on a regular basis for nearly 15 years – ever since I moved from LA to SF. I was seeing a celebrity derm in BH, and was skeptical I'd find the same quality of Derm in SF. I originally chose him for his excellent educational background, but he is so much more…I can say with confidence that Dr. Kwan is not only the best Derm, but overall, simply the best doctor. He is kind and patient, and he really listens to you; before suggesting treatment, he takes into account an overview of your life, health, and skin. He never makes you feel embarrassed or uncomfortable, and is compassionate and empathetic. He is determined to provide each patient with his best effort and skill, leading to outstanding, professional, and thorough care. I have referred him to numerous male and female family and friends, of all ages, and ethnicities, and after they see him for one visit, they stay with him forever. I have followed Dr. Kwan thru 3 office location moves (his current Tiffany building office is stunning!) and I will never consider letting anyone else manage my skin. I now live 90 minutes away and he is still my Derm. He has treated my skin for the years that really count in the aging process – my 30s and now thru my mid 40s. He keeps me fresh and youthful with a variety of cosmetic beauty treatments, but I’ve also seen him for serious derm issues, including resolving an allergy creating frequent dermatitis, removing a dangerous birthmark, melasma, surgical scars, horrific spider bite infections, etc. Even when I've had a lapse in insurance, I pay out-of-pocket to see him; he is just that good. Dr. Kwan will never push you to do more cosmetic work than you need or want; he wants you to look your best, but in a natural way, without looking fake or overdone. He will discourage a beauty treatment or product that you just don’t need, and does not push overly expensive products on you (he even suggested a drugstore $10 CeraVe cream for my trip to super dry Antarctica!). Skin is sensitive and seen, and he always approaches treatments and medications carefully and without overly extreme measures. Each time I see him, he tells me that if a treatment is not working, has an adverse effect, or I don't like how something cosmetic looks, to simply reach out to his office, and he will see me or talk with me ASAP, and we will review and update/ alter treatment. He strives for perfection and your happiness. If the visit is for a medical reason, his office staff typically follow-up to make sure the treatment is working and the issue is resolved. He is an exceptionally good Derm, but what really impresses me about Dr. Kwan is his immense knowledge of medicine outside of dermatology. When he asks how I’m doing overall, I’ve brought up other non-derm medical issues I’m dealing with – many were unique and seemed hopeless, and he provided sound advice that was more useful than my own specialists! His wealth of medical knowledge is profound, and his ideas on how to resolve other medical issues have changed my life. Clearly, thru constant research and continuing education, he keeps up on the most current dermatological treatments, but what is most remarkable is his keen understanding of everything else medical. It is truly impressive, and I attribute it to his extraordinary intelligence, his high level of interest and curiosity about medicine and helping others, and his innate understanding of the human body. A huge thank you to Dr. Kwan for all of his years supporting me with such fantastic medical and cosmetic care, and insightful advice, and especially for keeping my skin youthful and flawless – he is my secret weapon! If you are searching for a new derm, he is the best.
1. Did not retrieve my records from Florida when I took the steps to sign record release and provide all information with enough time before my first appointment. 2. Skin photo treatment missed the entire lower 3rd of my face. 3. SAW & NOTED LESION ON LEFT UPPER ARM ON FIRST VISIT AND DISMISSED IT. TURNED OUT TO BE MELANOMA INSITU LESS THAN 1 YEAR LATER WHEN A DOCTOR IN COLORADO BIOPSIED IT. REQUIRED DEEP SURGICAL REMOVAL. 4. I don't care about the view of Union Square
Have been going to see dr Kwan for over ten years. Knowledgeable, experienced and friendly - he never pushes any product or treatment that is unnecessary. I have recommended Dr Kwan to many friends!
I used to go to Dr. Kwan all the time when I lived in the City. I had to switch doctors when I moved to the South Bay. I went through a period where my skin was red and inflamed. My doctor in Los Gatos couldn’t figure it out and had me try a bunch of differnt things. Nothing was working and the customer service and wait time was ridiculous. Frustrated, I reached out to Dr. Kwan and he was able to diagnose me within a few seconds of walking into the room. He prescribed me some items that started working within 36hrs! This is why I still make the one hour commute up to the City when I have any other concerns. I don’t trust anyone else with my skin.
I had a silhouette lyft A little laser on my dark spots(Cheeks) Five stars for sure Great Job Doctor Kwan, And your Custom products are amazing! Kudos to you and your staff.
Ive been a patient of Dr Kwans for over 10 years.I see him twice a year for sun damage check ups and for other issues as they arise. He has always given me good advice and great service over the many years I've been seeing him.His union square office is centrally located, staff are super welcoming and dr Kwan treats his patients himself.Glad to see his downtown practice survived the pandemic - look forward to being his patient for years to comeThanks Dr Kwan
Updating my review to highlight this insanely sexist email from Kwan. "Male sensibility"??? Seriously?
I've been a patient of Dr Kwan's for four years and adore the team. While Dr Kwan and his team rank highly on bedside manner and attentiveness, they failed to identify issues that UCSF was able to point out right away. Here are a few examples where they disappointed me this year. - Dr Kwan decided to do a puncture test (ie minor surgery for a biopsy). He said it wouldn't scar (which it did), and the UCSF dermatology center was able to identify it just by looking at it.- Had a similar issue with another skin problem, but instead of minor surgery, the prescription was benzoyl peroxide. Again, the UCSF dermatology center was able to identify it right away without me having go through weeks of using the wrong thing (which dried out my skin)- their SkinCeuticals line is not suitable for people with sensitive skin. This was recommended to me by the team, but the cleanser has fragrances like Limonene! Turns out I am highly allergic (after some patch testing given my skin around my eyes flared up after I started using it). Products at a dermatologist should be fragrance free!!!If you're looking for something simple and cosmetic, I would still recommend Dr Kwan. If you have more couples dermatology needs, I'd recommend you try elsewhere. I wish I had gotten a second opinion sooner.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
