I highly recommend you DO NOT USE Dr. Esther Tow-Der as your surgeon! She was extremely negligent and careless during what should have been a routine hysterectomy. She performed this surgery on me in late February of 2022 and immediately thereafter, I started having major bladder issues. After consulting with a local Urologist, I discovered Dr. Tow had stitched 2 holes through my bladder while doing the surgery with the Da Vincini Robot. I was immediately referred to UCSF and had to wait until July to have surgery to repair the holes in my bladder. The repair surgery was unsuccessful so now I need a 2nd surgery to again, try and repair my bladder. She hasn’t even called to apologize or check to see how I’m doing when she’s the one who caused the issue. I have been confined to my home for over 7 months with nothing but medical problems & surgeries and it’s far from over. Stay away from this doctor!

Did not feel heard about my distressing health issues. When describing said issues, I was given a vocabulary lesson because I didn't use the correct terminology and was quizzed on it before leaving. Not something you really care about when your health is on the line. Was told that we would exhaust all avenues before resorting to birth control as a solution. We only did one thing before I was told to go on the pill as a final solution. Would not recommend this doctor. It felt like she couldn't care less and the faster she could get me out, the better.

Turns out I had preeclampsia and she had me induced at 34 weeks. With the contractions my blood pressure was only rising so I asked for an epidural and she answered back “please honey, if you were having bad contractions you would be in tears right now”. How would she know how much pain I can tolerate? Very unprofessional. Also has to have the epidural done twice because the first time it wasn’t done correctly and I was bleeding from my back. I wasn’t dilating fast enough and she sent me in for a c-section. I was in the hospital for 8days after giving birth. I couldn’t walk for 3 months after the c-section. I didn’t get a diagnosis. Nothing was done for me. Just felt that everything that could go wrong did. Later I was diagnosed through a specialized doctor that the c-section procedure had punctured my nerves from my back causing me to lose all movements and feeling in my left leg. Worst experience ever!!

Tow-der is not a person I would want to have as a primary doctor. Two times I've had to deal with her during my wife's pregnancy and OMG the second was not by choice. She has no empathy and only see's her patients as if they were a profile. Shows no emotions or concern for her patients. What you and I would consider excessive, she considers normal. We will definitely try our best not to run into her during the baby's delivery, I would hate to have her delivering our baby or monitoring my wife during it.

Amazing Dr. Tow-Der! I love her expertise, her professionalism, her kindness, her talents! She delivered both my kids, each a completely different pregnancy, and met every need. I'm so thankful for you Dr. Tow-Der!

She made my high risk pregnancy the scariest experience. Long story short.. I was in the hospital for 7 days after delivery due to the fact that I was paralyzed from my left leg. They couldn't figure out what went wrong. I was unable to walk or assist to my newborn for 3 months after delivery. She didn't request any x rays or test to be done while I was there. She had the worst bedside manners. Very rude and not compassionate at all. Has the "know-it-all" attitude. Not going back!

I love Dr.Tow-Der. She’s an excellent surgeon. She performed 2 of my c sections, an ablation, and a hysterectomy.

I read some of the negative reviews and was very surprised.  I know that everyone has their own opinions, but in MY opinion, Dr. Tow was very professional!  She sat down and explained everything to me in detail and was very personable and knowledgeable.  I would definitely refer Dr. Tow patients.
