Dr. Nicholas Stienstra is the best rheumatologist I have ever seen. During our appointment, he took his time, looked over my lab work thoroughly, explained each exam result, asked me detailed questions about my symptoms, examined me fully, answered all my questions, and created a detailed plan to move forward.I felt like I could trust him without hesitations. It's obvious that he loves his profession. If you have rheumatology issues, I recommend Dr. Stienstra without a doubt.

I really wish I would have checked the reviews on this practice prior to becoming a patient at Montage Medical Group in Monterey.Throughout my entire pregnancy I have had a total of seven appointments canceled on me. When I questioned why those appointments continuously get canceled, the receptionists would come-up with the same dimwitted response all several times - "Dr. Clark will be out of the office. Sorry. That's all we can state at the moment". So, the questions is this; why book out your clients if you're going to be out of the office all of the time with no other practicing dr's covering for you?! It's absolutely mind blowing especially being a high-risk patient. Their receptionist also told me that there were no other appointments I could book with my dr after they canceled on me, but I could be seen by a nurse practitioner (this was my only option all several times they canceled on me). Being seen by an NP is fine, but not every-single-time your dr has to cancel on you while being a high-risk pregnancy patient. Seven appointments is almost 50% of the appointments you have when you're pregnant and is just absolutely unacceptable and unprofessional.Also, I have been told several times that my husband/partner could come with me to appointments and then when he arrives with me they turn him away due to Covid-19 rules which is totally fine, but don't say one thing and then waste your patience time once they get there... especially when your own staff can't even follow simple Covid-19 mask rules by wearing face coverings properly in the work space - what a joke!At 30 weeks pregnant, I am now having to find another practice that is more reliable and and professional as the staff at MMG are exactly the polar opposite of just that.

Primary care kractitioners are now scheduling patient visits at 10 minute intervals (1:10, 1:20, 1:30, etc). Practitioners are competent, but hurried & harried in exam rooms. Medication refills are freqently overlooked, mistaken, failed to be sent to pharmacy. A new class of Medicine Technician is now involved in this process. Errors are much higher since then they arrived. My phone calls to clarify these problems are never returned despite their pledges to do so. I am very disappointed in a system which function well 5 years ago when l joined. They have many more enrollees due to Obama Care (a good thing). New practitioners are filed with appointments within days of arrival. Curent practitioners are likely appeased by bonuses & promises of future relief from new practitioners. Staff training is inadequate & error rates climbing.

The best branch of Montage, the front staff, especially the redhead is great! Great doctors

Love dr Cunningham and Ariana the nurse for caring so much about the urgency of my requests! Such an empathetic staff. Very recommended - best in the area for sure.

Dr. Cunningham is the best gynecologist. Great listener and is on call if you have a emergency or something comes up... Great office staff...

dr. stauffer is a remarkable urologist. he is fantastic in making you feel like a valued patient. and fyi, his office is easy to get to-- just up the hill above the roundabout.

I would not recommend. I called 3 months ago for an appointment and could not get one for three months. I had one scheduled for the end of June and got called that they had conflicts and had to reschedule. The next available appointment is September. Absolutely horrible service. I do not recommend. Bad news for them because I refer people to doctors in the area and this one is off the list. So disappointed. I got lucky and was able to schedule an appointment with another GYNO in the area and have an appointment next week. When one door closes another opens!

Preface: This rating does not regard the collective individuals and practices within MMG, and is based on what I believe to be ignorant decisions, or perhaps the processes for decision-making of the specialists or medical group who have declined my referral. Unfortunately, systems that lack integrity effect the whole system, and so below I have given my statement for the rating I've provided and hope for this decision to be reconsidered. Over the last 3 years numerous physicians (10 to be exact) have been giving me the runaround, referring me to specialists who have yet to find the source of my sinus issues. From being prescribed just about every allergy medicine under the sun - holistic and traditional medicine -, to having surgery for a deviated septum which was to "absolutely fix the problem", to seeing numerous (4) ENT's, a rheumatologist, and now waiting for 3 months to visit an allergist that's over a 2 hour drive away that I've yet to visit.I was finally designated a PCP, Montage Medical Group, and I have to say my first (and so far only) experience with Dr. Cuenca was actually pleasant, for the most part. He listened, looked over my charts, asked some questions and agreed that my issue has a probable neurological component (as did Dr. Grewal (ent) AND Dr. Udwadia (rheumatologist), but Dr. Cuenca also suggested I see the allergist first before the neurologist...ugh! But being a good physician he sent the referral anyway (I hope without any stipulations) to the specializing neurologists within Montage Medical Group - Dr.'s Michas-Martin, Alexander, and Legarda - all of whom declined the referral on the basis that there was not enough evidence. I was told that after visiting the allergist that the neurologists would reconsider the referral...I have followed the instructions and guidance of each of the preceding physicians, all whom have been wrong in identifying treatments or healing modalities to, at the least, minimize my symptoms if not "take care of it." I have expressed with conviction my disbelief in this being allergy related, and with good reason to believe why it very well may be neurologically related... this same reason why 2 specialists both agreed (of course after having implemented their requirements per their specialization).I'd like to acknowledge the Norman Cousins' and Tony Robbins' of the world who sought beyond the initial "opinions" of their treating physicians, and who sought 2nd and 3rd opinions, following their intuition, or "gut" instincts until they found a physician who was willing to truly listen and help. Here is a statistic from Epidemiologist Dr. Barbara Starfield of Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, reporting "in 2000 that around 225,000 deaths occur annually in American hospitals due to the adverse effects of medications, infections, and errors. This makes hospital care the third leading cause of death in the United States behind heart disease and cancer." (Dossey, 2009). The phenomenon of medical errors and adverse events is not uncommon or unheard of. Errors in diagnosis often occur from "Handoff's", including teamwork and safety culture (Cuong-Pham et al., 2000), Diagnostic Errors, Surgical errors, etc. Cuong Pham et al states that "Misdiagnosis is prevalent in specialties such as cardiology, infectious diseases, oncology, and neurology."No negative remarks can or will be made upon my behalf concerning the specialists, personally, who have declined my referral to see them (even if the referral has been submitted by 2 doctors and agreed upon by a 3rd). I can assume reasons why they have declined it, but instead will hope that they rescind their decline and reconsider the request submitted (and agreed) by the 3 different doctors.
