This place rescheduled me 2 times without me even knowing and didn't even bother to call me, how they say they do, to tell me about my 9 am appointment, which I missed because of them.

My experience was over-the-top! The staff was very informative, helpful and professional. I highly recommend to anyone. I was very impressed with their counselor, Sapna N. with her holistic approach with counseling.

I am very thankful and blessed to be a graduate of The Recovery Center Of Monterey! As a Fibromyalgia patient and chronic pain sufferer, I was addicted to High Level prescription Opiates for 8 years! Now I am 5 Years & 5 Months clean off of the pain meds. Woo-Hoo! Dr. Lee Goldman is the director and MD in charge there. He is my absolute HERO!! (On a side note: I, and my 19 year old son, have had the pleasure of being in his care for nearly 20 years when we went to CHOMP for Emergency Care because he is an ER Doctor there as well. He is very wise and talented in his profession, and certainly one of the very BEST Doctors I've known in my 58 years of living). As a Recovery Doctor, he gets to know his patients as individuals. He treats people responsibly and carefully with patience, good advice, and medical/medicinal attention that truly helps patients through the process of recovery from alcoholism and addictive substances. I still see Dr. Goldman on a regular basis for after care support. I am glad and comforted in knowing that The Recovery Center is here to help me for, pretty much, as long as I need it. I've been through other recovery programs in past years including in-patent programs. The Recovery Center is an out-patient program, yet it still covers the spectrum of recovery education for patients, EXCELLENT Counselling Services, and referrals that provide everything that people on the path to recovery need to succeed. They also have support options/referrals for friends and family of recovering addicts. Financial assistance was available when I was there, it probably still is - for those who qualify. I will have to strongly disagree with the 5 star review. In a nutshell approximately a week before I was to complete the program I was involuntarily discharged. Being clean and sober is nothing new to me. In 2000 I was a paid employee at the Door to Hope. I was at the Recovery program because I spent the last two years in Tijuana Mexico strung out with my husband, an ex con and deportee from Salinas that started shooting up heroin at 13. I left him because I almost died down there and had to be put in a nursing home for 3 months prior to leaving him in order to learn how to walk again since I almost lost my leg from an infection from IV drug use. Ten years later I never touched the stuff again, it took 6 long months, regular appointments with Dr. Bennett’s who monitored and slowly tapered down my subutex intake, and a lot of money. Unfortunately, the intake lady didn’t take any of this into consideration as she eves-dropped in on a private conversation I was having with my mother on my cellphone in the kitchen area with the doors closed regarding an upsetting comment my mother had made to me right as I was leaving to my outpatient program. I was sitting in group just steaming mad and as soon as we had a break I called her and asked her why she was acting like such a “bitch.” I didn’t call her a “bitch” but she told staff something about it and 15 minutes later without hearing my side of the story Dr. Carnazzo told me I was discharged. Totally unfair and if I wasn’t already so determined to get off heroin it could’ve led to yet another relapse and ultimately death for me at the rate I had been going. I really doubt not much has changed over there. Favoritism, violating HIPPA guidelines, and these types of incidents are no way to run a rehabilitation center for drugs and alcohol.
