December 2021, Dr. Chaplan is the best orthopedic doctor in Monterey County.

It was one of the worst experiences of my life. He didn't even take look my X-ray, left without answering any of my questions.Front desk: Terriable! $25 for medical record?? Why those staff works here and treat people this way??Not recommend this doctor and Clinic to anyone.

Dr Chaplan was able to see me timely and accurately diagnosed my problem and offer a solution. His staff was professional and friendly and we're we'r to answer all my insurance questions.

Please don't go to this office, there are the worst ever!

I visited with Dr. Chaplan on Mon Dec 3, 2018 and my experience was nothing like the two bad reviews I had read that made me be fearful of going to my referral there. The receptionist and other staff, and above all, Dr. Chaplan were very welcoming, caring and professional. Dr. Chaplan shows genuine care by inquiring about you and that puts one at ease.

Very unprofessional staff, this says a lot about the doctor. My husband had surgery with Dr Chaplain and after receiving 3 weeks worth of physical therapy, the physical therapist recommended more physical therapy. Paperwork was sent over from the physical therapist office asking for a new prescription, the prescription was never sent. After 3 weeks of dealing with Susie’s constant excuses, I decided to drive over to the physical therapist office to prove her wrong. Susies Excuse #1: Cant send a new prescription because the Dr has not been in, I have it in my desk as soon as he gets in I’ll have him fill one out. Excuse #2: The physical therapist office didn’t send the 3rd page, I need the 3rd page in order for the doctor to write a new prescription. Excuse #3: I just realized it’s Workers Comps fault, they have the visits expiring 8/31/19. Truth of the matter is that it’s Susies fault that my husband had to wait 4 weeks to get physical therapy. After talking to Martina from Dr Chaplains office I come to find out that Excuse #1 was one of Susies lies, Dr Chaplan has been in the office the whole time, it was Dr Gerbino that was out a few days. After picking up the fax confirmation from the physical therapist office I come to find out that all 3 pages were indeed sent, another lie from Susie. After talking to workers comp I come to find out that once again Susie was lying, visits expired 10/31/19. What is Susie trying to cover up? Obviously 🙄 she doesn’t want Dr Chaplan to find out she is not doing her job. On the last conversation with Susie I told her my husbands knee was still hurting and swelling, (perhaps if he would have gotten the physical therapy it would have been a different situation) we had an upcoming appointment and on the previous visit Dr. Chaplan had said that he was hoping that next time he saw my husband he would be ready to return to work, I told her I hope he understands that this whole situation was not our fault and he would extend his disability till he finished his therapy/feels better. Susie went on by saying Dr. Chaplan was fully aware of the situation and that she could assure me that Dr. Chaplan was not going to send him back to work till he felt better. Long story short, we went in to see Dr Chaplan, my husband told him his knee hurted and got swollen when standing for long periods of time, he tried to show him some pictures of his swollen knee, Dr Chaplan said pictures don’t help him he needs to feel the knee to know if it’s swollen. He was very unethical, it seemed he didn’t care. He was upset because he hadn’t received the therapy, his staff is so good at convincing him that’s it’s everyone else’s fault but there’s. At the end, he ended sending my husband back to work with only two restrictions, avoid climbing stairs and no kneeling. I told him what about standing, he can’t be on his feet for 8 hours. He responded by saying he shouldn’t have a problem with it. I told him Oh yes he does he’ll be in pain and his knee will swell. He didn’t care, he said come back in 45 days. Very unprofessional, not to mention that when we first saw him he looked at his MRI and said he would go in and sew his meniscus. When he did the procedure he did a whole different procedure without consulting us, he went in and cut his meniscus. When we saw him all he said was since I had to cut the meniscus you are proponed to arthritis in your knee, way to go doctor. I would not recommend this doctor or his staff to anyone, I could see why takes workers comp cases.

Very Unethical Doctor. Does not listen to his patients need, feel like the doctor was rushing me to recover, when I was asked how I was doing it seemed like he didn’t believe that I was still in pain and that my knee was still getting swollen with prolonged standing, he sent me back to work even though I was not physically ready to go back. He is not the only unprofessional unethical person, his staff Susie and Martina are very unprofessional. They constantly lie to cover up for there mistakes, when the first lie doesn’t work cause you prove them wrong, they’ll find blame on someone else, this says a lot about the doctor.

We love Dr Gerbino, but today we saw Dr. Chaplin and it was one of the worst experiences of my life. He was rude and condescending, he did not discuss my son's broken arm with me, he refused to put him in a cast, and he left without answering any of my questions. Terrible experience. I would not recommend this doctor to anyone.

He was rude and condescending, did not discuss my son's broken arm with me, scoffed at the idea of putting him in a cast, and berated me for removing the splint even though the ER Doctor told us to do so to clean him up.
